Driving your 9000 lbs forklift on the sidewalk? Portlanders can't even ride an electric scooter on a sidewalk... I understand there is no code enforcement in Portland but good lord Georgies is entitled. Get a clue. Sidewalks are for pedestrians, not forklifts.

Georgie’s has everything you need for pottery and ceramics. The high and midfire clays and glazes are up front and the low fire materials are in the back room, which is nice for keeping things organized. All major brands are represented—Amaco, Mayco, Laguna, Speedball, Coyote, etc. Georgie’s brand clays are out on display in the main room, but there are a ton more in the warehouse that you can ask about stock. I was able to buy one of my favorites, IMCO paper clay, on my most recent trip. I’ve heard from others that prices are higher than some other stores, but the convenience of being able to see test tiles in person and avoid shipping costs outweighs that for me. Maybe if you were a production potter you’d want to go elsewhere, but it’s perfect for an active hobbyist! So grateful to have this store close by!

This place is fan-frickin-tastic, whether you are into pottery, or even if you want to buy your child some clay, Georgie's is the place to go. They have at least 20-30 flavors of pottery clay in stock at all times. They also carry boxes of air dry, and plasticine clay.
They even sell wheels for the throwers, and they have kilns, tools, and molds for any type of hobbyist. I didn't know that so many pottery glazed even existed!
On top of all of their amazing inventory Georgie's offers pottery classes. Whether you want to learn to throw, or learn how to run your kilns, they have classes for everyone.
If you don't own a kiln yet, but want to create ceramic pieces, Georgie's has got your back too! For a small fee, you can bring in your own handmade items, and they will fire the pieces for you! The sales person who helped me, even loaded up a 50lb bag of ceramic plaster that I bought.
Georgie's makes me wish I had gotten into pottery years ago. I'm so happy that they have everything needed for people who want to get into ceramics! It's a great hobby, and Georgie's is the place to go, to learn, and get started!

This place is magical. Every time I go I have to practice huge amounts of self control to not blow all of my money on glaze and clay. The workers are always super helpful, they keep things well in stock, and their clays have quickly become my absolute favorites. They hold tons of different classes for different skill levels. I feel super lucky they're just across the river from me.

THEY ARE GREAT!!! Because of a train I was not able to make it to "another pottery supply" so found Georgies through a recommendation from a pottery shop, Mossy Creek. I called in my order while on the road and was going to deal with bringing some kiln shelves on the plane with me. Got there and did some more shopping, went to pay at front counter. They were so helpful and when I realized I did not want to deal with those shelves as a carry on (and was not going to trust in a checked bag) we split the order and shipped part. Shipping to Alaska is never cheap but we are use to that. From the gal that answered the phone to Katie that took my order, to the 3 or 4 at the counter that helped, to the additional suggestions that were given to this rookie potter it was a great experience. ? store seemed well supplied and I will keep them on the top of my go to list! Sorry I didn't remember all the names. I think one gal at counter was Frank?

Just payed for my raw materials at the front counter and then waited 50 minutes for them to bag up 3 10# bags of materials they didn’t have prepared. The front counter didn’t convey to Nick the guy who filled the order that I was waiting. The front counter played it off like it was his fault. Horrible customer service by a woman who didn’t seem to know what customer service is. So frustrating!

My son needed clay for a ceramics assignment that had broken and was due. We arrived a minute before closing and they very kindly let us in and looked up the same clay that the school purchases, got it for us and rang us up. They never acted like they had somewhere else to be, they were too cool, or that we were a pain even though it was after closing. We are definitely going to look into classes here.

Working in pottery saved my life growing up. It’s where my teacher got all of our materials, and where I got all of mine when I began reaching out to the children in my community through pottery. Georgies will always hold a very important place in my survival.

We are so lucky to have this amazing ceramics supply store here in Portland. The store has everything you’ll ever need or want for working with ceramics including classes and studio space. The staff always goes out of their way to be helpful. I wouldn’t know what to do without this store!
