I was moving from Colorado to an apartment in Vancouver when the apartment told me they weren’t sure they’d approve me to move in anymore so I set up a storage space rental. The representative I spoke with was helpful over the phone. I ended up getting approved for the apartment when I was in Idaho on my way here so I called as soon as I could to cancel the storage unit. The manager was understanding and he went the distance to get me taken care of. I’ll definitely keep this place top of mind if I should need future storage.

Ken was the best! Set me up with a storage unit that was the size I was going for. He explained everything quite clearly and processed setting up a new account quickly. 99.9% improvement over the last place I rented storage.

Rented a unit here online yet had to go in person to obtain access to the unit, which is ok. Rent was a good price and we were pleased with the size of the unit. Everything was ok the first month or so. The more instances we went to the unit the more we realized the people coming and going are not decent people. For months the gate was broken and only open during ‘business hours’ which was not what my lease determined as gate open hours. However, I fully understood for the security this make shift gate would have to do. They raised my rates every chance they got. I contacted the extra space online chat to discuss this rate hike as it was nearly double my rate. They were able to adjust as they determined it was well above comparable units in the area! That seemed to get them off my back about a price increase for awhile until I got another which was again doubling my rate while both the gate and elevator are BOTH broken everytime I’d stop there. They don’t send emails to notify you of these things being inoperable.The big issue I had was they could email me ‘tips’ for storing my stuff but never email me regarding their maintence issues. They also only send you a little postcard to notify you of a price increase. I would think an email as well would be beneficial but because state law only requires written notice via mail they don’t want to do anything above that.Yet if you are late on rent or auto pay is off, expect calls from them 2 days before due date and then everyday after it to harass you. They will also email you if you are late, but not to notify you of a price increase.I contacted their district manager about my concerns and was met with a very snarky and arrogant response. Telling me they have to increase the rates because someone drove through the gate and that’s going to cost them 20,000 to fix. It’s not my responsibility to pay for that. Ultimately I got everything out of there and left. They are still calling me to try and pay a ‘balance’. I’m not paying for their gate to be fixed!Beware - price hikes, Tweakers, access when they want you to go in, and rude staff!

I have had a unit at this Extra Space on Columbia Blvd in Portland, OR since 2017 and I could not be happier with this company. They have kept my precious belongings safe and untouched the entire time. I have had times when I needed a few days to cover the monthly fee and the late fees are reasonable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Very clean in and out. Nice music in the building and lights that turn on as you reach your unit. Excellent security system. Carts and elevators make it a breeze to move in and out. Great peace of mind while living in another state. Will never choose another storage company now that I have been treated so well by this company. Thanks Extra Space!!!

No matter how perfect your move is it is always stressful and storing my most precious possessions has never been more stress free and seamless as it as been than during my time with Extra Space Storage. Angie worked miracles to make my circumstances a nonissue and even her boss Ken was a breath of fresh air! Thanks isn’t enough, you guys are amazing!!

The management the friendly and helpful, one issue I was told I would receive an email with code next day to access the building at 6am, no email so I had to return later that day to get code. So far I have had issues with being able to gain access at 6am when they say it’s open I had to wait this am 20 minutes until the security showed up to open gate and that’s the last thing I wanted to do after working 10 hours is to sit in a parking lot for another 20 minutes Before I can unload and go home. If they can get that issue fixed, they’re great!
