βI was on a time crunch to get what I needed in short window and the staff were 100% helpful getting me the camera I needed in the time i needed it. They helped me make the right decision with a bit of trial and error and I am so grateful that I was able to buy a camera in person vs online as I was able to have the benefit of discussions and deliberation with a experienced photographers. This was especially helpful as I was in need of a camera upgrade, a serious decision to make the friendly staff helped me through the process to find the right fit for me. βI use to buy records and gear from Platinum in Seattle in the late 90s, they were awesome then and still are! I needed a new DJ controller, everyone online were sold out and I happened to come across Platinum Records Portland store online (didn't know they were still around). They had my equipment available and shipped it out next day with free shipping! Great local company, glad your still around. Bonus note. They have thousands of vinyl for sale as well.β

βOver a long weekend I had the pleasure to meet Gary at True Audiophile. I was requesting his expertise in setting up and aligning my turntable. I am grossly incompetent at this and when youβve invested a not inconsiderable sum of money, there will be some peace of mind knowing a professional has looked over your gear.
Gary was very quick to respond and a date was set up. I dropped off everything at his place and had a wonderful chat about hifi.
It helps that my tastes align with his. Heβs a great story teller and really knows the hobby inside and out.
To make a long story short, my table and arm proved to be very, very finicky. However, Gary took all the extra time needed to get to the bottom of the issue. He was in constant communication throughout the entire process. To his credit he was going to get this table and cartridge singing no matter what. He must have put in at least double or triple the hours that he would normally have to do. When I went to pay he not only kept his originally price as quoted, but respectfully declined my tip. He must have went completely gray working on this.
When I got home and fired up my system I was gobsmacked by the improvement. I was assuming maybe a ten percent improvement; it was more like 100%.
The ease, tone, bandwidth, and presence all took a dramatic turn for the better. One really doesnβt know what can be unlocked from the record grooves until your cart has been perfectly calibrated. I could wax eloquently for paragraphs about the dramatic change but I wonβt bore you.
I just urge you to please use him if you are needing some peace of mind about your own turntable. He is a consummate professional, friendly and knowledgeable.
You cannot go wrong. I am proud to have him nearby. He has found a new and loyal customer.

βThe shop manager Leandrew was helpful and able to fix our issue and able to correct after sale staff had not been able to and falsely claimed the supervisor would have the same options. I haven't named this employee because I trust this has been resolved and new people deserve a chance.
To be honest, I likely would have given 5 stars and there been no issue if the answer was "I haven't encountered a situation like this, let me grab a supervisor" instead.β
βI have an old Korg MS-20 I bought in 1981 that needed to be restored (since it sat for a couple of decades in an attic). Synapse Audio did a great job. I got it back cleaned and restored and it sounds as good as it did on the day I bought it. I would absolutely trust Synapse Audio to repair any device. They know what they're doing and clearly have a passion for vintage gear. I can't recommend them highly enough.β

βThis review is about ten years overdue. I bought my first ever turntable off eBay. A Setton TS-11. Now I don't remember what I paid for it but I bought it knowing it needed a new belt. At the time I lived about a half mile away. It wasn't far but it meant walking up and down a couple of hills. Oh yeah, I didn't own a car at the time. So I walked it over there and asked them to take a look at it for me. I knew next to nothing about turntables. I don't remember why exactly all the back and forth but I believe I carried that turntable between the shop and my home three times altogether. In the end, they got it working beautifully. In addition to fixing my turntable, they sold me an old radio shack mixer and helped me troubleshoot my audio setup at home. Both the turn table and mixer continue to work perfectly to this day.
