Took my guitar in to get it set up. Got it back on the earlier side, which was great. They did the extra fret work we talked about it possible needing. Now it plays like a dream. I keep picking it up, because its so enjoyable to play. Thank you so much

When my grail guitar (2004 Gibson Les Paul Supreme) arrived to my home with a snapped neck, I was devastated! I was going to send it back to the seller, but I figured why not run it over to a shop to see if it can be saved? I know Les Paul’s are famous for these neck breaks, but they just don’t make the Supremes like this anymore. I went in and Ryan put me at ease, confident they could put it back together again. He wrote me a bill of depreciation to help with my seller transaction and got to work. 6 weeks later, I get the call and make my way to the shop. I could tell you how good the repair was, but a picture is worth 1000 google reviews; an absolute wonder of a repair job, and the guitar plays just like I remembered it from the days of running to guitar center after work to play a few minutes on a dream.

INCREDIBLY quick repair job (1 day after an estimate os possibly 3 weeks), but I just noticed the evening after that after paying $269 for a full rewire on 2 humbuckers , which included "deluxe resting" @ $50 , that the screws on my back humbucker are only held on by one screw just barely and the other 2 remaining screw are even making contact with the guitar at all with the 4th hole having no screw . I'm not saying the shop it self did that as i had done some jury rig didn't care type repairs on it my self previously (although i don't recall the screws being that bad but maybe they were. . But what irritates me about that is after noticing that I'm thinking to my self " really ? I paid you near $300 for a repair and your not even willing to throw in a couple longer screw , or at least even point that out to me ? I don't know , maybe they thought i was aware of that , but if i were doing the repairs i would have at least put in longer crews or mentioned it needed them . Not the end of the world , just a little irritating after paying a good amount of money for a full rewire , ect.

I brought in an acoustic guitar I found in a free bin that I thought was in salvageable shape that my wife wanted me to fix up as a birthday gift. They did a very thorough inspection and let me know it would cost more than what it's worth to fix up and they happened to have a used one in great shape for cheaper than the repairs. Crazy good price for what might as well be a new guitar with a very nice case, and is a much better fit for my wife and she couldn't be happier.

I had an appointment scheduled for a repair weeks in advance, I showed up, drove across town, but my guitar tech didn't. No heads up call or apology. Lame?

I brought in my Stratocaster to Ryan and he did the work at $1,400 and when I made remarks that top and bottom E strings pulled away from relative nut-neck locations as they traveled down the neck (so when playing the e-strings on the upper neck the string has a tendency to roll off the fret - no good sounds come from that!). He response after I paid him almost as much as the guitar was worth, was that short of a new neck I had to live with the result. Bottom line is it wasn’t right when it left his shop. My expectation after paying that much money was my guitar would be like new. The 70’s strat’s rolling off the line were produced like that? Nothing can be done? I intend to find out…..

These guys are the absolute BEST! I have taken many guitars here for setups. I used to do these myself, but these guys get them to play so much better. They also rebuilt an old touring guitar for me; '83 Gibson SG Firebrand. I beat the piss out of this guitar since 1985 when I bought it. It needed a rewire, pick guard, fret level, new bridge and tailpiece, clearcoat revive and a bunch of other things. This guitar is now back at the top of my rotation. Not only did they sort out the only sentimental guitar in my collection, but having them do a ground up resto job on it, it plays better than most of Strats, Teles and other Gibsons (some of which I paid over $3k for!). What an absolute pleasure it is to do business with Eastside Guitar!

Ryan and crew at Eastside Guitar Repair are great! Ryan has over 23 year of experience repairing guitars. Ryan also went to the Roberto-Venn School of Luthery, located in Phoenix, AZ, which is seen one the best schools for guitar building and repair in the United States. He was also an early employee at Trade Up Music and helped start the repair department for that music shop in 2000.Eastside Guitar Repair has helped me with tons of repairs for my person and business's instruments. I've got a really big project where he's going to completely pull apart an old acoustic guitar of mine and do everything like a neck reset, refret, bracing and rebinding on.Eastside Guitar Repair is located centrally in Portland right on Hawthorne Blvd right be tween 33rd and 34th ave, so it's pretty easy for most people to get to.Hank Failing - Hank's Music Exchange (Owner)
