This is the best occult book store I’ve have ever been in. Deep stuff, less airy fairy fluff. They also are very fair with offers on your collectable occult books that need a new home. Can’t recommend enough.

Best occult bookstore in the whole area. Expertly curated selection of books for serious practitioners. Beautiful Babalon altar as well. Looking forward to stopping by next time I'm in town.

I cannot recommend them highly enough! The selection is well curated and full of practical texts for anyone interested in the occult or esoteric. I visited once in person and the owner was very friendly and helpful and my recent online purchase was carefully packaged and the books arrived in perfect condition.

Absolutely wonderful, sweet, friendly place with the darkest occult stuff I’ve ever seen. Love the juxtaposition, will make this my home bookshop for this kind of work!

Whenever I travel, I'm always checking out local bookshops and the spiritual scene. When I randomly discovered that Portland has an occult bookstore (NOT Spiritual or New Age a la Renaissance bookstore) I was intrigued and made a note to check it out before I left town.I'm not sure anything can ever come close to the epic uniqueness known as Watkins Books in London, but between Dark Star Magick, Renaissance Bookstore and Powell's , Portland comes mighty close. This is an occult bookstore. Meaning, that there really isn't much in the way of crystals, angels and New Age potboilers from the likes of Joe Dispenza or Louise Hay. What you will find however are books and tomes by folks like Aleister Crowley, Julius Evola, Nicholas Flamel and even Anton Levay. There are whole sections on Enochian Magick, Satanism, Choas Magick, Spellcrafting, Demonology, Angelology, Alchemy, and advanced Pagan and Wicca stuff. The burly store owner stands guard in his kilt and keeps a watchful eye over the store. There are a few seats available to sit down and look over the books before deciding which ones to purchase. I even saw some rare first edition grimoires in some glass cases with price tags veering towards 4-digits. I hope they stick around because every city needs a store like Dark Star Magick.

I have to say that I feel privileged to have made it to this store. At the recommendation of my girlfriend, we stopped in recently and were blown away by the deep Esoteric treasures that line the walls here. The décor is top notch, and fine attention has been paid to every detail. We bought some books that we can't wait to pour over. We recommend it as an A+ establishment.

Someone in an earlier review stated that this place didn't have as much material as they wanted. I learned that this is for a reason; when I mentioned a gate-keepy book, he told me that is why he hand picks what is sold. The selection is carefully curated. As a brand new witch I still haven't found a solid, pre-named path. He told me to look around at everything and see what called to me. I found about 10 books that called me, but we are just going to start with 3 for now! I will certainly be back! It was nice to not be pestered, but also there was no air of an issue with asking questions. I'm not very comfortable around men, but I felt just fine being alone in the store with him. Thanks so much for creating this space. It was cool to see the local art, too!
