Buck is incredibly knowledgeable and has been in this business for a very long time. He knows his stuff and has a jolly disposition.
Buck works hard and so does his staff, to give you the right stove and the right set up with detailed information on what would work best for your situation. Buck delivered my stove down to the lower floor of my house and it was amazing what he and his helper were able to accomplish. Anyway, when others were unwilling or unable, the stove king came through .. that’s the point.

Buck gets 5 stars. Stars are earned, never given. Bucks knowledge of stoves and anything associated with stoves is absolutely superior. Buck and his staff are friendly and polite. His display of antique stoves is like stepping back in time, lol he should charge admission because it's like a museum. Thanks again Buck!!!

Go to Bucks if you want a personal touch and individualized attention. Visiting this Portland institution is like walking back in time - like a wood stove museum, the walls are lined with antique stoves and other iron curiosities. Juxtaposed to the old guard are modern and efficient stoves. Buck had just the stove I was looking for for my size home and the energy efficiency tax write off. He also connected me with a great installer.
An educator at heart, Buck was more than happy to give detailed information and instruction on any step of the process. He was very approachable.
He and the installer went above and beyond by expediting my project before the holidays. For that I am very grateful.

Buck and his crew helped me and my family out a ton during the ice storm where we had lost power. They stopped what they were doing to find the right stove handle for me so we could have heat. Good guys.

I needed some rotating grates for our antique wood burning cook stove, so I went to Buck's. He usually has what we need. That being said; he didn't have the parts I need in stock. Late 1920's Charter Oak cook stove parts are hard to come by these days.Being the Go-to guy for stove parts, he had knowledge of an individual who has a substantial inventory of old and new old stock for antique stoves. With a simple gesture of kindness, he put me in contact with that person and I went to the old barn, and met another kind individual who took me on a "Pickers" trip thru a vast inventory and we located the parts I needed for our stove.Buck is a wealth of information as well as being reasonably priced on the products he carries. One of the 'good guys'.

Buck has a ton of knowledge about what stove will work and how to make a stove work properly. Bought my Green Mountain 60 from Bucks a few weeks back and I absolutely love this stove. Bucks was also better priced than the competitors. Buck went above and beyond.

Outstanding customer service competitive prices huge stock of products on hand. It’s the kind of store that was common 50 years ago. In 2001 my wife and I decided we wanted a wood stove in our place at the beach. In an attempt to save money I wanted to install it myself. This was 2001, 4 years before YouTube and instructional videos so I needed a wood stove with all the hardware and the guidance of an expert. Finding a quality stove was easy, finding someone willing to explain the installation process and sell me a stove wasn’t so easy. Enter Bucks Stove Palace. He not only had a huge variety in stock they also supply top quality chimney and all the hardware but most importantly he was more than happy to explain the installation details. Instead of trying to sell me the most expensive model he could he matched my needs.It took a couple weekends but the install came out great, we enjoyed the Avalon Pendleton for years and in fact 22 years later the current home owners are still using my original work. Foreword 15 years a new home & we need another stove, I went back to Bucks. Nothing had changed, same massive selection and same excellent customer support. I again did the installation myself and again because of the expert guidance it was up to code & passed inspection with flying colors. I don’t anticipate needing to purchase another wood stove but we may decide we want a pellet stove. If we do I hope Buck will still be in business. It’s very rare today to use phrases like “ outstanding customer service” it too bad places like Bucks just don’t exist anymore.

This place is an institution unto itself. It should be on every list for Top 10 places to visit in Portland.It's not just a place to shop for the ultimate stove - it's a wrinkle in time.We bought the most perfect grate for our fireplace. The shopkeeper couldn't have been more helpful.
