This place is a neighborhood treasure for selection, knowledge and longevity. Broad range of subjects and always tasteful. Smiling, happy workers. Legendary like Powell’s but without the crowds. Magazines and cards, too. Parking can be a bit challenging around Broadway. Great bakery across the street.

I love this small bookstore. The people that work there are friendly and I always end up buying books as gifts from their table displays. Love to support our local shops, especially good ones like this one!
Broadway Books is a small, independent, women-owned bookstore serving northeast Portland and Portland's literary community since 1992. We specialize in literary fiction, history/current events, and memoir/biography. We also have healthy sections in poetry, mystery, scifi/fantasy, and books for young readers, as well as other sections. We sell mostly new books but have a small-but-well-curated selection of used books, as well as greeting cards, journals, and other sidelines. We host author events in our store except in July and August. Check the website for scheduled events as well as for curated reading lists.
