They make a good cup of coffee and are doing amazing work. The person who was training was so kind and respectful and the person being trained did great! In this wild world we live in, it was such a wonderful start to my day to see such kindness and have such tasty coffee!

Came in to get my bicycle fixed.Wow. Classic Portland. Not the over done "Portland Weird" cliche, but instead, a cool fusion of small coffee house and bike shop that is trying to make the world a better place in its own little way.Damn, i miss that optimism and willingness to help and educate others.

Good place to grab a coffee and check out some refurbished bikes. Friendly, helpful staff.
Kid-friendliness: They serve hot chocolate, and have some family seating.

The coffee is delicious. My new favourite local spot to get a cup from! They have milk alternative options too for people like me who prefer soy.

Had a coffee and conversation here a few days ago with friends. First the coffee was great, but more than that this place is really interesting. The floor is covered in pennies of various shades that make patterns. We were told that you could see them better through the lens of your phone camera and that appears to be true. In the back there is a bike shop. The not-so-secret to Braking Cycles is that it helps fund a nonprofit that helps youth get off the street and into housing. What an excellent way to spend a few bucks on coffee.

Accidentally found this gem. Tasty coffee made by friendly and wonderful people! This little non-profit organization helps teens to learn how to fix bikes and make coffee. They sell refurbished bikes too. I'll be back!

What friendly & helpful people! They took care of my bike issue right away after I walked in without an appointment. Charged me a fair price for the work. And, they have a really cool mission of helping transition youth in challenging situations by teaching them bike mechanic skills. They also take donations of used bikes and fix them up for resale to support their cause. I will be back!
