This is a couple years late, but I used to be a member at this financial institution that is until the summer of 2019, I walk in one day, waiting to start to get my credit history going , I requested a credit card application, and after filling out all the paperwork, I was denied a credit card, because of a lack of credit history..I guess they didn’t take another consideration the fact that I had well over $20,000 in their safe of my money that I know they lone out to other people and barely give me two or three dollars a month off of and they were probably making hundreds if not, thousands of dollars in interest.I went to Unitus, which is much closer to my house, and within two hours of me filling out the credit card application.I was approved the next day I went back to this financial institution and told them I’m pulling all my money out and going somewhere else. Have a good day.if anyone here is not happy with what used to be Albina, Unitas is a much better credit union to be with.

Marcus Martinez at the MLK Branch was such a delight to work with! He listened to my trouble and showed up when it truly mattered to our little business. Thank you, Marcus!

If I could give a negative-100 I would. They treat black people so bad at this branch it’s ridiculous. Gentrification is showing its as* at this location.

Rude! Cruel...just horrible customer service. In this lifetime I pray I never have to bank at this location again. drive the extra mile(s) to the Sandy locationHere's what happened:My business partner and I have a business account. I was told a signature card was to be signed...okay. And I got a call saying I needed to come in soon to sign or the account would be closed. So I show up politely told them I needed to sign the card and they lady (shoulder length black hair/olive skin) was like:Rude employee: Who'd you talk too? Do you have name? - she begins naming other employeesMy response: Handed her my ID. I don't remember, can you please look up my account to see the notesRude employee: well...I'm logging in and its taking time so I'm asking you questions because if we didn't call you may be the other branch (Sandy) did you call them? Did your business partner tell you?My response: I don't know. Can you read the notes on the account.Rude employee: The paperwork is not here as it's usually prepared so when you come in to sign its ready. My response: So you're telling me that this branch can't do the same thing?Rude employee: No we can BUT I'd rather not download the paperwork, its a hassle it will take time. Let me call the other branchMy response: Ok. Can I do a wire transfer as wellRude employee: Well, I called and they have it ready so go there and no you can't wire if the card isn't signedI left, and went to Sandy location to handle it and withdrew all but $2.04 of my dough. Spoke to the staff there (pleasant). My fault: I should have asked my business partner more details about which location before I showed up at "Bank of Rudeness" & I could have called before driving from Happy Valley. Lessons Learned. My next steps: Continue my primary banking elsewhere. Screw their funky customer service and treatment of a customer who is BIPOC. Trust me I took out 5-figures...so this review anit coming from someone broke.

Been a member since the first branch of Albina community bank. My local branch won’t let you inside due to Covid but all other branches will. They also now close at 4pm which is no good for me. Shame. They used to be so good.

Drive up from Salem to get added to a vehicle so I could take over payments. Very friendly and professional service. I figured it would take hours to get paperwork done. Paperwork was done when I got there. We read threw it together. She made sure I understood everything clearly. Then I signed and was on my way. 30 minutes in and out. Very professional! Will definitely be running all my financial transactions with Beneficial State Bank.Oh yah…. The parking lot is small but plenty of parking across the street. Diagonally to the left from there entrance. Huge free public parking.

Not treated well. Lied to and a refusal of cashing my check. She didn't even put any information or run the check she just said she wasn't going to cash it.

I never realized that having an awesome bank would make me so happy. I bank with Beneficial for my small nonprofit and have had nothing but outstanding service. Craig Hill, our account rep is caring, thoughtful, and always looking out for us. He came to visit our office just to get to know us when we started (with a tiny account balance). They've always made things easy, helping us with a PPP loan, and tracking down a copy of a check I had lost, for example. There's always a friendly, competent human answering the phone. They use language that non-finance people understand and help me feel more confident in our financial management. And most importantly, I feel great knowing that our money is being managed in a socially and environmentally responsible way. It gives us another way we can make a difference. If you've never kept your money at a bank that feels like a community with smart minds and big hearts, give Beneficial a try. You too might end up having a crush on your bank.
