We rented a car from Avis twice, picked it up and returned it quickly and without problems. The cars were new, everything worked well, but the interior was not very clean. Overall the impressions are positive.

My mother and I rented this truck to drive all the way from FL to OR and budget sure made it as difficult as possible giving us ancient equipment and a beat up truck and oh so horrible customer service along the way not to mention hidden fees and overcharging. Go with uhaul to save yourself some stress. Thanks for making our trip a nightmare budget!

Do not rent from this price-gouging pack of frauds, ever. You're better off walking. When I first wrote this review, I said they're either they're utterly incompetent, or they're thieving liars. They have now confirmed for me that it's most definitely the latter.Purchased two $100 rental coupons, then called customer service to make sure I knew how to use them correctly before booking a car. Was told to just book the car and prepay, then bring the coupons with me on pick-up. At pick-up, desk agent says there's no way to apply the coupons at pick-up, bring the coupons with me when I return the car. At return, new desk agent says coupons can only be applied at time of reservation, refuses to do anything further, and tells me to call customer service. Customer service turns out to be a useless victim-blaming overseas call center empowered to take no effective action whatsoever, with an operator who "apologizes" that _I_ was confused about how to use these coupons, refuses to take any responsibility or make good, and upon my insistence "elevates" the case without taking any of my actual information or coupon numbers so my complaint can be boilerplate rejected in 5-7 days.Upon seeing this review, I was then contacted by Avis with an offer to look into the matter. Foolishly assuming that offer was in good faith, I responded accordingly...only to be subsequently told there was nothing the company would do and either I should contact the agent that sold me the coupons (a truly disingenuous buck-passing suggestion, given that the coupons were provided by Star Alliance in exchange for frequent flier miles, and clearly indicate on their faces that they are Avis' responsibility), or just try using the coupons again next time I rent from Avis. That next time, of course, will only be if and when hell freezes over. Thanks for the "help", Blake.So, in short, Avis first defrauded me of $200, and now has pointedly explicitly doubled-down on it. I will refrain from deploying the full list of four-lettered invective this company and its representatives so richly deserve, and instead simply note: if you enjoy being ripped off like this, then Avis is for you. Otherwise, there are plenty of rental car companies out there, none of which have ever attempted to pull anything like this scam on me.

Kurt was a delight to interact with. The price, which doesn't have the Airport surcharges, are okay, even if the selection of vehicles is really small.I can say this being the closest place to our house had a lot to do with using this location. But the customer service is the saving grace.

First time I rented a car through them, the first two vehicles had major mechanical issues and I had to return them. The third had cosmetic blemishes, and though I wasn't thrilled I accepted it. When it came time to exchange it for another, I was told that because I had prepaid I would be charged a $250 deposit that I wasn't informed of when I prepaid. I informed the lady at the counter that I didn't have it. She extended my current rental through monday (4 extra days) and gave me a voucher for an oil change to be charged to their fleet account. I drove an hour to the Jiffy Lube listed on the paper and was informed that Avis no longer has a fleet account with them. I recommend avoiding this business, if possible.

I was happy with they're service by far when i 1st started with them it was ok service as we progressed & after spending $6k in 3mon I can't wait to take them to court they had my rental towed when I crossed state lines and the tow truck driver stole cash and valuables from car as well then put me on the national fo not rent list just be careful there looking like hertz here it seems.

My preferred place to rent from. The staff is great and when backed up give you a comeback time and when you show back up bring you to the front and gwt you on your way. Highly Recamend the downtown Portland on washington st.

I had a very nice experience with Avis at this location. I recently booked a SUV for 9-days trip in Oregon. Both pick up and return process are very smooth, and the vehicle is in a good condition as well. Thanks to Sarah and the gentle (who managed the return process, sorry forgot his name). Also the price here is very competitive.

I had reserved a Premium SUV thru Costco for a family road trip with my family and my parents. It was critical to get a larger vehicle to accommodate 6 people and our luggage. Today, 3 hours before I was to pick up my vehicle, I received a call from this location telling me that they did not have my vehicle, nor a minivan or other similar vehicle to accommodate my reservation. I was given the choice of a 12 person death trap van, or a Ford Explorer that has enough room for people, but no luggage storage. I had this reservation for 7 months and 3 HOURS before my pick up they call me..... and we are leaving tomorrow for our trip. Thanks for nothing AVIS- this location was not helpful, would never recommend that you book here. ZERO STARS.

Took my mom here after she was involved in an accident and the insurance of the other driver said they would pay for it. The call center clearly stated they would do direct billing of the insurance company. The woman behind the counter refused to do the direct billing and was rude about it.

Reserved a truck, wasn't available on day of pick up. They said they don't have anything to give me in writing showing that they didn't have the truck I reserved available. They said they'd cancel the reservation and not charge me a fee, but I was still charged $75 no show fee

Had a reservation in advance, and we were treated exactly that way. Seriously, at 8:40 they called our name that's when our appointment was scheduled they ran us through all of the necessary evils of passing on liability and responsibility issues, added myself as a driver to them, then they wanted to charges then they waived it, just all of the right things to happen before a vacation is Southern California. They didn't have our Dodge caravan and we had to somehow put up with a brand new three bench Ford expedition black FBI style, with all of the heated seats separate controls front and back and right and left, and it was four-wheel drive and such a smooth drive all the way in back. And to boot 20 plus a gallon mileage wise. Excellent sound system. Couldn't ask for more. Four star rating is only because the car was dirty when we picked it up and a car this nice should never be that dirty. But otherwise drop off a smooth no hassles at all and I would highly recommend this Avis car rental. A+ plus professionalism.

Completely dropped the ball and refused to rent us a truck even though we had a reservation. Owner was useless when I gave him our confirmation # "yeah, sorry, I see the reservation but we don't have any trucks. Nothing we can do to help" Budget was also useless. Trying to help my elderly parents move and this caused a big problem for us. Never using them again.

Very dissapointed in this location. Does not take cash and will not take debit payment from anyone other than the driver. What if the driver is operating on behalf of someone who doesn't drive?
