Though relatively reasonably priced (for some items) and conveniently located only a few blocks from my place, I made the decision to stop patronizing this co-op due to the broadcasting of their extreme, far-left viewpoints on pretty much every cultural polemic you could imagine with the posters dominating their front window. Not to mention, several of the employees tended to have a rather pungent body odor that would permeate throughout a large radius near the registers all too often, which isn't exactly appealing to be forced to endure while grocery shopping...It's a shame management here is unable and/or unwilling to focus solely on providing our community with healthy & affordable food instead of engaging in the toxic and extreme ideological activism contributing to the unnecessary polarization of society.

Best co-op in the city. A neighborhood treasure.

Grocery co-ops are the best. There’s this one and there’s People’s Food Coop in SE. both are fantastic. If you live anywhere near this place, it should be your go-to for all your shopping. Their bulk foods section is amazing.

May 21st around 1:45 pm - 2 pm I came into the store. This store by far, is extremely bigoted. I have come into the store on a couple different occasions, 2 to be exact. I must say the atmosphere is very strange! On this occasion, during an event on Alberta Street; I brought my niece, who is a beautiful 13 yr old De La Salle honor roll student and the owner just starred ? at us the whole time! I mean she was just fixated on us like we were going to grab something and just run. My husband and I make a pretty substantial amount of money, I have the ability to afford anything that I need. My look is what people would describe as very classy and elegant, my niece is as pretty and well put together as they come, so it’s not like we had “that look” if you know what I mean lol... Which really is the bizarre aspect of this situation. I will not return to this store; the owner knows she is racist so why would you bring your establishment to an urban area, and then make the black customers feel uncomfortable. What kind of sense does that make? This is my city, born and raised, I personally do not think this store is good for the well-being of the community. To add insult to injury, they have the nerve to have a “BLACK LIVES MATTER” sign! WHAT???? Give me a break!

I usually love the co op, but the last few times I've been there I've gotten rotten produce. I've bought micro greens/spinach and other greens in bags and containers from here that looked fine without opening them, but I get home and my produce is rotten. The last couple of times they couldn't get me a receipt either, so I couldn't try to return it. I know it's fresher produce that may go bad faster, but I feel like it may just be better to go to a place that has fresh produce and that actually makes sure there isn't anything bad on the shelf. Disappointing.

Alberta Coop is the best!! Surprisingly affordable, friendly staff, a wide range of products for such a small store. So glad I'm a member!

Really great little neighborhood grocery coop. Wish I lived closer to it, but given how many goodies they have on offer it's probably a good thing.

A friend gifted me a membership here and I am so pleased. They are always friendly to me when I come around, and it really does feel like building community rather than just Doing Capitalism at each other. This is one of the only places that I can get local berries and grapes without any plastic. The produce is always so bright and delicious.

Alberta Cooperative Grocery is amazing. I used to frequent it when I lived in PDX in the day circa 2004 to 2005. On a recent visit here it is still a special place worth visiting and supporting. Kate, who works in bulk, was friendly and helpful. I ended up picking up some goji berries in bulk, harmless coconut water to hydrate the walkabout in the sun, and some medjool dates rolled in coconut with a sliced date on top. They have a great variety of everything from flowers, to heaps in bulk including: numerous whole grains, to various local coffee beans, almonds, and even reishi mushrooms in bulk. I try to eat a lot of whole grains. Quinoa is a staple of mine in San Francisco for it cooks fast, is high in protein, and just make sure to rinse first. 20 min it is done. For produce they had amazing heirloom tomatoes in a variety of colors, avocado, and heaps of greens which are a favorite of mine. Greens such as kale cook up fast with a little bit of olive oil or steamed. Anyone living in or visiting Portland should check out this gem of a store with amazing products and friendly helpful staff.

Stopped by to pick up a handful of things and check out the beers they had. They are located on a corner and have a very small parking lot on the side, so you may have to park on the street. Good selection of food stuff packed into a small location. Downside is the location however as you will have to get passed the Portland zombies to get in most likely. There is a little food truck park a crossed the street but 2/3 were closed on a Friday evening at about 6pm when I was there so don't get your hopes up when you see it.

All natural items. Memberships for discounts. A little higher priced items. But the store is very nice and clean.

The sweetest corner grocery in Portland. Well stocked bulk section. Gorgeous local produce. A nice selection of cheese and wine. Fresh baked goods from Dos Hermanos and Shoefly. They have funky gift items too, candles, octopus earrings, aromatherapy tinctures. Definitely no more expensive than New Seasons or that Amazon monopoly down the street. The staff is always friendly, present, chatty in a genuine way. I’m proud to be a member of such a fine establishment.

Very well stocked despite having small space. Reasonably priced and genuinely fresh organic produce, bulk foods/supplies, and other natural products. Go for the membership, it's well worth it.
