Very cool, completely renovated rustic rooms. Not a Holiday Inn, better!
Particularly appreciated minisplit AC so rooms cool but no noise from compressor which is outside, out back. Appreciated ceiling fan.
Very comfortable and quiet.
Some great restaurants in walking distance.

Amazing stay! Every amenity promised was available. There were two options for EV charging: A Tesla wall charger and a 240V 14-50 dryer type outlet on an RV post for a bring-your-own-cable solution (as well as other outlet types). The rooms are charming, well appointed, and clean. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. There is also a courtyard with a clubhouse which has a communal kitchenette and pool table. The location is great for those traveling to/from California. The surrounding area and community are quaint and beautiful to drive through. It is also affordable. Highly recommended. Will likely stay here again.

This small motel is a 21st century upgrade of a 1940s motor hotel. It has more high-tech accommodations than most modern chain hotels, but it's main feature for us was its close proximity to the Lava Beds National Monument and the Tule Lake internment center, used to unconstitutionally isolate US citizens of Japanese ancestry during World War II. Both sites are located about 30 minutes away from the motel, across the state border in California. The Wild Goose Lodge's rooms have electronic locks and the motel can email you the lock combination for your room (customized for each guest) before you arrive, so that you can enter the room any time without first visiting the lobby. Just inside the door, there's a little gizmo used for checking in. Flip the lever up, you're checked in. Flip it down when you leave, you're checked out. A QR code on the wall next to the gizmo gives you the Wi-Fi password. Although our queen-bed room was tiny, it was very comfortable and included excellent air conditioning, a ceiling fan, large-screen HDTV, coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator. The rooms feature a Western aesthetic with knotty pine accents. The motel also has a rec room with weights, books, DVDs, and a unique antique wood stove from the nearby Tule Lake internment center. Merrill, Oregon is a quiet place to stay, with half a dozen or so nearby restaurants and a food market open 8am to 8 pm. The Wild Goose Lodge is a fine place to stay a night or two on your cross-country trek.

Owner operated and very accommodating. Room was very clean with thought put into little amenities that made it more like home. Would definitely recommend this lodging to everyone.
Noteworthy details: Checkin and check out was very easy. Parking in front of room was very convienent and more secure feeling. The room and outside were neat and well kept. The little table and chairs outside the room was great for enjoying the cool evening after a hot day. The wood cabin feel of the room fit the areas appeal. Lots of local shops and food places within walking distance.

The Wild Goose has only gotten better over the years. I have been staying here for 10+ years and the improvements I see are awesome. First, the new refrigerators which are larger and have a freezer compartment to keep my ice packs frozen. And the split system air conditioner is a quantum leap from the window-based swamp coolers. If I had just one wish, it would be that the rec room again had room for two long tables, and a cooling system so our group could hang out inside. Otherwise, 5 Stars about everything
