This rating is relative to a series of recent events.. i want to preface and say ive been a patron of Spectrum Orthotics for over 10 years now, purchasing many shoes, custom orthotics and back brace. I want to say that anyone who got the pleasure of working with George and Eric will know they did a great job and I was sad to hear theyve both since moved on from Spectrum.
Over the past 2 months ive been appalled how down hill theyve collectively gone in a series of events.
Apologies in advance for the long review but its relative to the circumstances: a few months ago i drop off my annual rx to Eric for custom orthotics and scheduled a date to pick up new orthotics.
Date comes around to be met with "Eric no longer works here and we have no idea what he did with your molds for your feet and we cant find the orthotics that he made, we need to start from scratch. Sorry - but Eric trained me so youre in good hands." ....red flag number 1. They take new molds of my feet and now i have to schedule a new appt.
Between that appt and the next appt, i was contacted by an office member stating that there was an issue with the insurance and i need to pay out of pocket (which ive never had to do in 10+ years)...i politely say theyre mistaken. They later called back and apologized for the error. Red flag #2.
I go in for my next appt to be told, so we made you an extra pair of orthotics at no cost. I ask...so im getting 2 pairs? .... the new practitioner said yep! ...i have a long wait and notice that the office that used to be pristine and clean is a literal mess. I mean, trash all over the floor, overflowing trash bin and just all over the floor, and bits of product all over the floors and literally food and dirt tracked all over the chairs. (Red flag #3)
... The new practioner comes back with the new orthotics that are wildly different than what ive ever gotten in the past, and are extremely uncomfortable. After i explain this, the practitioner then proceeds to ask, well how about that arch though! ... (as if this is my first time wearing an orthotic, albeit ..one of their custom ones that ive been ordering for over a decade now..) i explain that the material he used is different than what ive always gotten due to my disability and injuries and they are very uncomfortable. The practitioner then proceeds to say "oh well, i can make you another at no charge but if you can just sign this document here" (for insurance to pay and say that you picked them up.) (Red flag #4) ill admit, I did sign but added a note stating they were not correct and the practitioner is making another pair so
that it is documented. ...needless to say, im appalled.
The lack of detail and attention if their new practitioner makes me wonder if he is on something.. i dont say this to be rude, but as a consumer i recognize specific behaviors from our area and im genuinely concerned. The fact ive now had to go to their office multiple trips to not get what I needed (a bunch of unnecessary and frustrating steps), and i had to correct a billing issue that should of never occurred.. and to see the state of the office when i just went in. What the actual... This is not normal for Spectrum.
Through all of my years of getting various products made at Spectrum, i will say that ive never had bad experiences prior to 2024 that I can recall. But as of May 2024..Its so bad that i felt the serious need to write this review because i would NOT recommend referring anyone to this office until they get their staff sorted. I dont know if its lack of management or lack of care collectively ..but, whoever they have now that replaced Eric...is not someone ill ever go back to personally and i would not recommend anyone to go to at this time.

Eric is absolutely The Best. He did my orthotics & knows more than any anyone that I have ever gone to for my messed up feet. I’ve seen a lot of professionals for many years.

Classic predatory billing practices with supplementary billing months after service. No online portal or electronic trail available for prior payments, only payable by mail or (ostensibly) by phone. I have called now nine times, during business hours, to the Spectrum Orthotics and Prosthetics billing department and only ever gotten a voicemail reiterating said business hours. This is an extraordinary amount of effort to pay a 32 dollar bill I richly suspect is already due to ethically marginal billing practices, for a service that could clearly be automated.

I cannot say enough about how accommodating, professional, and amazing the staff at Spectrum Orthotics is. Thank you for helping my 89 1/2 year old Mom with a sling for her broken clavicle and scapula. They went above and beyond and we are forever grateful.

I lost a leg above the knee in Sept., 1976 and have been with Spectrum and it's forerunner, Pacific Orthodics and Prosthetics ever since. Forest has been my primary adjuster for many years. Over the years he has remained one of the most caring and competent individuals I have ever been associated with. When it comes time for an adjustment that requires a new fitting, (ergo, a new liner of which must be measured for and all the other prerequisites), he does it all and gets it right the first time without any errors or hiccups. His supporting staff have always been very competent and professional. I strongly recommend their services.

I kept getting shoes that were too narrow. Eventually I got foot ulcers from the pinching. They would NOT put me in a shoe wide enough to remedy the problem. I lost 2 toes and spent 10 months in wound care. My shoe "professional" treated me like crap.

My consultant over at spectrum. Allisyn, has been very professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and relaxingly personable. She has always been accommodating and convenient to work with. Visiting me in the hospital for my initial fitting and visiting me at outpatient therapy for my follow up reduction of my AFO (foot braces) previously my ankle was locked. Now plantar flexion and dorsiflexion could happen. Allowing for “toe off” when walking. due to the fact that I couldn’t drive and had to be transported to therapy via wheelchair lift cargo van + my brother and sister in law were very busy with school, work running a family and taking care of me. The small gesture was much appreciated. Thx

The staff in this office are very nice, HOWEVER, I was seen and fitted for an ankle boot on April 6, and today, on May 28 I was told the order to have the boot made was just submitted, 2 days ago and wont be ready until June 25th!!!! That is almost a 3 month wait!!!! Someone has really dropped the ball here.

I can't recommend these guys. The Prosthetist Patrick, who was assigned my case, was very unprofessional, treated me like a child, never listed to my requests and most importantly didn't even include me in the making of my leg.

Every single person I've come in contact with while being measured and fitted for custom braces has exhibited smarts, kindness, good communication skills, and a desire to truly help. More health practitioners like those folks, please!

Yelp says that 5 stars indicates "as good as it gets," and IMO, Spectrum really is exactly that. From the pleasant and efficient admin staff, to the professionals who fit me with custom braces, I'd be hard put to think of ways to improve their service. Patrick, the practitioner who worked with me, is an excellent communicator. Plus, he gave me a sense of trust in his many years of experience and in his compassion that I have found in only one or two other medical practitioners in my life. Do they ever run late? Sure; they're human. Does every interaction go perfectly? Don't think so but perfection's a pretty high standard. Kudos to this entire staff for being incredibly helpful, honest, and professional!

I don't know that I can sing George's praises any better than Mary already has ... so let me just say "ditto." George listens, you can see the wheels turning..foot issues are challenging. He does his best to come up with a solution. I would not be walking comfortably without his attention. I am grateful!!!
