“One of the best curated stores for Men’s Apparel. Massive selection of Private Label & others Rick Owen, Pleasures, LANG, etc. Great guys behind the counter, great music & vibe. Spent a solid 3 hours in here. 1111 ✌?”
“My son turned 11 and really wanted a top hat. I wanted to buy one that would last. We first tried another store - thank heavens they were closed Mondays! I had never been to John Helmer, seeing as I am a single mom. The minute we walked in it felt like a step into a different dimension, one where you shopped from a local store that knew just what you needed. The first hats we tried weren't quite right, and the salesman never tried to push us to buy - in fact, he took several hats off because he said they weren't "it." We finally found THE hat. A black Italian number with an amazing ribbon band. The sales person then offered to steam and brush the hat before we took it home! While we were there we went to look at ties. The man came up with the hat, so I asked how he ties his neckties. The salesman not only showed us his basic tie (which was not so basic!), but then showed how he comes up with his own knots, depending on the tie and his mood. What?! I didn't know you could do that! We were never shuffled off or given less than stellar service, even with me (this was during the ice storm this Jan) looking a little worse for the wear, and their customer being 11.”

816 NW 23rd Ave, Portland“There were a few bags I was looking at online, but I wanted to check them out in person. I didn’t catch their name, but the employee who helped me (short pink hair?) was so incredibly helpful. Highly recommend stopping by the store if you need help choosing a backpack!”
“5 star experience for my daughter’s FIRST SKATEBOARD! Devon was fantastic. 10/10 dude. It was late & he stayed past closing to help us. A lot of great information and got to commiserate over the good ol’ days of the 90’s. Educated us on the board & fully assembled it for us (very knowledgeable, very patient, very friendly and not in a weird way). Even gave my kid a free lesson at the end! Place has 5 stars for a reason. We’re just in town visiting but whether you’re new to Portland or a skate regular this is your one stop shop! Thanks so much Devon! Keep on keepin on man ?”
“The man is a genius. I gave him a tough job tailoring tweed bellbottoms that were way too big to my tiny lil self, and he basically remade the garment into a perfect fit, If you want the guarantee, European Master Tailor is it.”
“Ben is a true professional. From the moment I walked in, he was fully invested in helping me find what I wanted. He had no agenda—he wasn’t a salesman, just a respectful gentleman. And yet, his knowledge of menswear is worth tapping into. His sense of style and fashion is top-notch. Don’t miss out on working with him.”
“Kati did our merch and my team and I are all obsessed. Everyone wants one of the new pieces! Most importantly, the process was so easy, Kati delivered on the timeline she promised, and she answered my many questions in the process to get it all just right. Couldn’t recommend working with her more, I will definitely be back!”
9:30AM - 4PM
304 SW 3rd Ave, Portland“This store is awesome. Throwback to a time and style of outerwear before REI. Salespeople smile and are helpful. Products are very timeless quality. You won’t find much gortex, and other hi-tech fabric clothes here. Think more classic cotton, wool, and waxed canvas outwear from Pendleton, Barbur, and Carhartt. Excellent selection of Levi’s and Wrangler jeans.”
“It’s really a cool store! I was expecting everything to cost a lot of money but was surprised when a normal but well designed sweater was only about $100. It’s fashionable without being too unaffordable. Great place to get someone a birthday present or something.”
“One of the best customer experiences of my life. I had to purchase a tux a few hours before a wedding I was due to attend. They found me a suit that fit perfectly at a great price. Highly recommend.”

“I LOVE Shwop and my daughters love it, too! Great quality. Novel idea of a 1:1 swap for members. I got a ton of compliments on my style, and Shwop is my biggest enabler! Super fun shopping experience! Marcy, the owner, is it delight!”
“I came into Portland, Oregon for a work conference and while walking around town I stopped in to see what Michael Allen's mens store had that was different. First, Jake Houston zeroed in what I liked within 10 minutes. He was the consummate professional. DIFFERENT I say because this haberdashery has exquisite taste in mens clothes. TY Jake for all your help!”
“The customer service from this company is outstanding. I had a small problem with a simply beautiful kendogi that I ordered and it was resolved immediately. The quality of work in my garment shows. Fran reached out to me even on a Sunday to make sure that I was completely satisfied. ありがとう”

“Love DXL/Casual Male XL. They have everything I need, and more. The staff are helpful. I'm a Platinum member and wish I could get more perks other than the usual $15 to $20 Dollars off 100+ purchase. But it's still worth the drive and the spending.”
“Sean and Kaitlin are amazing here at this location. They are very thorough, knowledgeable, and kind, and will do whatever they can to make sure you are happy and satisfied with your fit. Off the rack suits don’t fit me because of my odd proportions so I really appreciated their detail oriented work to make sure I am satisfied with my suits. You won’t be disappointed.”
“Talk about a place to feel welcome and invited too. It's brilliant! The shop is an area for art and discovering treasures in the shelves. Stop in to look about, supporting our local community in the process.”
11AM - 7PM
8017 SE 13th Ave, Portland“This is exactly what you want from a thrift store! There is an excellent selection of vintage tees, jackets, and denim. Definitely some high quality pieces and hidden gems if you take the time to look. And everything is reasonably priced as well.”
10AM - 8PM
621 SW 5th Ave, Portland“Where do I start? This place has very high quality clothing basics, and has gorgeous bed linens. But my favorite part was the atmosphere. I have a lot of sensory issues, and this store was a very pleasant shopping experience for me. It wasn't too bright, the music was instrumental, and the smell in the air was very light fresh and calming. For the first time in a long time I could comfortably shop for clothing without environmental stress. The anti sweat t shirts will be a new favorite for sure. They are so soft and smooth, as well as opaque so you don't have to worry about your undergarments peeking through. There needs to be more stores like Muji!”
11AM - 6PM
1136 SW Alder St, Portland“This is my favorite store in Portland! They recently moved to a new “forever home” space in the West End, a block from their original location, and it brings so much warmth and life back to downtown Portland. This store used to intimidate me - the type of place where everything was so pretty but seemed like nothing that would actually look good on me. But I was so surprised once I actually tried something on to find how approachable the clothes were and how good they made me feel in my body. Yes, you are throwing down $$$ for these items, but they are one of a kind and will last a lifetime. I get so many compliments every time I wear a piece from here - Rachel Comey is my favorite line they carry!”
“Don't often leave reviews, but this was a super great experience. Really appreciate Drexler for helping me secure a grail for a reasonable price. Conversation was efficient and transparent, which made the process feel smooth and easy. One of the best sneaker shops I've ever come across; incredible selection to choose from. Really appreciate the great customer service.”
“This long time small business is great! Staff and ownership are friendly and helpful. The store is overflowing with punk, goth, and rock-n-roll shirts, pins, patches, dresses, shoes, skirts, and tops. Not to mention the fun kitschy things like books, finger puppets, earrings, and other accessories that make awesome gifts!”
10AM - 6PM
3205 SW Cedar Hills Blvd #38, Beaverton“Dropped off a bunch of shirts for my work crew. The owner was able to immediately customize the logo and design I emailed him and get me a preview of how it will look. Turn around was very fast and they turned out great. Best of all, the price was great!Thank you!”
“It was my first time going to a Hot Topic. This one was pretty nice. It had tons of unique styles and accessories from different animals and Japanese-related characters that I recognized. They had great sales like (Bye One Get One for $1) I bought a T-shirt of Jack the Skeleton($16) and I got another for $1. There are plenty of esthetics in this shop like emo, Cutey, Punk, Stylish, etc. Would recommend Coming into the mall and check in this shop out.”
“Great shop! Beautiful custom designs. I'm a larger fellow, and Tony helped me feel stylish and comfortable for an upcoming wedding, in which I am the best man. First time having tailored clothes of any kind, and now I'm not sure I can go back to the rack!”
