$18,000.00 Wasted...
Purchase and installation of a DFC long block Tow Haul series engine that goes bad with 1400 miles on it . Engine 5 year 100,000 mile warranty.
Keith makes no good on anything.
Engine makes Pop sound at 1/2 throttle ...Mechanic did not get injection pump timing gear tight. Pump timing slipped at 1400 miles. Damaging the engine? (Blue/gray smoke and loss of power immediately after that noise)
Keith told me the smoke is because the weather turned cold. B.S. Fuel related?
DFC engine builder said the engine is not broke in yet .
I honor there word and wait putting more miles on engine and for the weather to turn hot. (4500 miles, No change)
So after driving this nasty smoky engine till the end of summer. Replacing and adjusting mostly everything fuel related in attempt to end the heavy blue/gray smoke issue that occured anything above idle
Doing a compression test myself. while installing new economy injectors for less smoke? Engine does have Low compression). DFC engine builder said to have the engine sent back to them.
Keith says that HIS labor warranty is now over.
He will not even pull the engine to send back to DFC for inspection.
WHY?... DFC warranty will not cover engine damage caused by improper fuel injection pump timing. They say this may cause diesel fuel to wash the oil off of the cyl liners. Causing the piston rings to no longer seal.
When I checked the injection pump myself. It indeed did slip from what Keith said they set it at.I hoped this would cure the heavy blue gray smoke issue. It did not.
The pump gear had almost came off by hand. I'm surprised the pump gear was not just spinning on the shaft leaving me broke down at the side of the road
I am a full time RVer with a 10k Toy Hauler. Im attempting to make a 1000 mile trip south. 17,000 lbs GCVW.
I'm stranded now in WA with a bad engine after spending 18 k at Pure Addiction for nearly one year Come Oct 1st 2024.
I'm put into a very bad place of hoping this engine stays together for the trip south.
Plan was for a new clutch and 5 speed trans rebuild. Making for 100% reliable as can be for RV travel. All other work stoped because of this bad engine.
Keith did offer a trans rebuild at engine install. Claims SBC is at 20% also. I wanted all upgrades on my NV 4500 5 speed.
(Major Design flaw with this trans). Main shaft is not fully splined for 5th gear. This causes the 5th gear nut to fall off losing 5 gear.
All rebuilt Dodge HD NV 4500 5 sp trans come with a New fully splined main shaft.
Keiths rebuild quote was NOT with a New fully splined main shaft. More garbage exspensive work at Pure Addiction Diesel.
Thank The Lord. I avoided that financial blunder
All that typing and drama.
With the DFC engine that's rated at 700 HP. With it's 5 year 100, 000 mile warranty.
I figured it could not break.
My very first Phone call.to Pure addiction Diesel. Seemed to me this should be very simple. Have someone confirm the engine is blowing blue smoke. Issue then likely being Valve oil seals or piston ring issue. Obviously a compression check would be done
Instead told the BS story that the smoke is being winter related. Meaning a unburned fuel issue in cold weather. Ignore the fact that heavy blue gray smoke started immediately after hearing the engine make a bad sound
Keith basically tells me to wait till the Pure Addiction warranty is over. He sounds professional while he is attempting to get your money.
18,000 repair bill. You would think the shop would at least make sure the customers vehicle would start. Charged batteries? Nope... He did want to sell me some batteries at 250.00 ea. Cl

Awesome professional shop. Did awesome work and was able to squeeze me in before the weekend and get me back the truck in the same day! Also was the most affordable shop I called for the specific work I needed done. I will be a return customer for sure!

This is the place to go to get your diesel repaired or modified. I've been to this shop many times with a couple different trucks. Communication and service has always been top notch. One time they sent me a video of a bad bearing that they found during teardown and asked if i wanted to have it replaced in addition to my other repairs. That's the kind of thing you just don't get at other places. That attention to detail and communication is why I kept returning to Pure Addiction.

This is a very professional shop that cares about the service they do to your diesel. They are easy to understand, prices are explained with educated findings and data, people are amazing and the most important thing is trust, I trust they will keep me and my truck safe. Best local diesel shop I have worked with. No surprises here folks. All integrity.

Brought truck in smoking from 2 cans of seafoam. No problem with truck whatsoever. Runs like a charm. Just needed to get more power. I set up an appt with Gil. Dropped truck off and 1hour later get a call saying they can't install the chip due to it smoking. Weird how they couldn't tell me that or ask about THAT before I left or before we even set up the appt. A slight oversight I guess that only was a waste of this customers time, no big deal right boss? Except for the fact that he had the nerve to ask if i still wanted to purchase the Hydra to still make his sale? Looks like a case of laziness. So I took it in to another shop in Scappoose for second opinion. Got it back end of day. No issues. And no thanks to Gil. Wish ya'll the best though!P.S. I could've bought the Hydra for cheaper on Amazon with free shipping, I did my research ahead of time before I stopped by. Peace.
