The pharmacists and techs are great and am grateful for having a local option. However wait times have exceeded 30/45 mins on several visits. Additionally there isn’t a suitable waiting space for folks with mobility or other health issues without interruptions to other shoppers or folks waiting in the unmarked line that forms in an aisle. Lastly, there are 3 terminals that are perpetually empty that would benefit the customer experience and improve waittimes with the addition of another pharmacist and tech or 2 on duty. Lastly this location has absorbed a large contingent of the now closed nearby Walgreens and little to no additional support or assistance has been provided for the existing staff and they are doing the best they can. They need more staff simply put, a better flow for both drop offs, pickups, a better waiting area for folks with “health issues” and a designated line that doesn’t feel like Frogger with shopping carts.

I'm a nurse and I was helping out a patient on my own time to get some meds that insurance wouldn't cover. I was absolutely amazed at how kind (and competent) the pharmacist was. The pharmacy tech just didn't know how to handle it when it turned out that the med was not available. The pharmacist stepped in without even being asked. He just overheard my conversation with the tech. He spent quite a bit of time online trying to locate the correct medication which has become extremely difficult to locate at all. I left the other prescription my patient needed and went off to Walmart while it was being prepared, hoping that I could find some of this medicine that's so scarce. Walmart, to say the least, not only didn't have it, they were not helpful at all. In the meantime at Safeway the other medication they did have in stock was ready. The tech asked me for $144 for a 5-day supply! That sounds terrible, but at OHSU where they also had a supply, it was over $300. Still I was a little shocked and the tech said that the GoodRx number I had given wouldn't work. This blessed pharmacist stepped in again. He just overheard the conversation again and very kindly said, "We've got all kinds of GoodRx cards around here. I'll find a way to send her home with at least one of the medicines she needs." Instead of $144, I paid $21.95. He ended up spending more than a little time on this. It's not like he kept any other customers waiting. There were pharmacy techs who were able to fill prescriptions so no one had to wait, and he just made it his business to go over and above. The man deserves a medal AND a RAISE. Safeway pharmacy manager, are you listening?

Severely understaffed, one pharmacist had to have me explain the dosage to get a refill. Wait times are often hours, and calling ahead is a waste of time since they never answer.

I was at self checkout doing a shipt order and I asked the person there if I could leave my stuff with him so I could go get my shipt card from my car. He said that it was fine and when I came back, he had already given my cart to someone else to reshelve my items? They went back to find my items but couldn't even remember what they had reshelved and I ended up leaving without one of my original items. If you can't hold things for a couple of minutes, just say that instead of saying yes and then fucking over your customers

Overall: I grew up going to Safeway as a kid and still depend on it as my primary source for groceries. Having recently moved to Gresham, the size and selection of options from this location put the others to shame. Location: You can call this location somewhat hidden if you're coming from Powell. If you're coming from southeast Portland on Powell, make sure to turn right immediately after the T-Mobile store and if you miss it, the right turn on Highland works too but you might need to wait for the light. Service: I have never had a problem with this location - everyone is always friendly.

I don't understand why people have such an issue with them... I've been getting my medication here for Years & never had an issue. Only thing is they changed the brand of inhaler on me from the blue to yellow & it doesn't spray as well so it's not as good... but I'm guessing that's a corporate decision, which isn't the location's fault.

Bought bird eye corn, ice cream robins, and asparagus with 2 pads of butter flavored with rosemary. Love the asparagus and broccoli when it comes with seasoning. The veggies are fresh. Would recommend them.

Really difficult service today. I product (soda) was marked two different ways in two places. In the end, the store would not honor the lower of the two prices. For manager issued her edicts from her office without coming out to discuss it with the customer. I won't be able to go back; I really struggle when the customer is always wrong. Funny, I've had the opposite experience at Division Safeway. When the product there was mis-marked, they always give me the lower price.

Safeway in the Gresham neighborhood. Been here long time, has a gas station next to it too- along with Starbucks inside (Starbucks not always open). In a little shopping mall. Prices are ok, shop only for the sales mainly, along with use of gas station is convenient when in the area.

Terrible service. The Turkey Bacon croissant sandwiches don’t actually have any bacon. Bought some a few days ago and tried them again today. Had to even ask the Loss Prevention guy what was up with all that since he was curious as to what I was doing the whole time I was in the store.
Had to come back in and get mayo and mustard packets anyway since they didn’t add those to the sandwiches either. So they have money for an LP salary but no money for mayo/mustard and bacon for sandwiches they should be with? This doesn’t really make much sense to me. 0/5
