Been taking our 3 Persians here for around 8 years. Was recently black balled by the Dr. because he evidently can’t handle a phone message from my frantic wife when we had a Saturday emergency with one of the cats. They had always been open Saturdays in the past but recently changed their hours I guess. Anyway evidently the bottom line is butt hurt feelings amongst humans outweighs the well being of the pets. Found a much better place a bit closer to home to take our cats. They seem significantly cheaper as well.Edit: Posted after business response. lol, your response clearly shows maybe you should get someone else to preform the “customer service” aspect of your business.

I love this bunch! I have a totally different opinion then some of these reviews. I will admit when I first met Doc Hughes I wasn't sure, he seemed almost too serious! We got to know him and while he isnt the throw a party because we showed up kind of guy he is totally competent and a pleasure to deal with. He is absolutely hands down the vet I am most comfortable with in all my 64 years and numerous dogs. He never fails to explain things to me in a way I understand (medical moron that I am), and has my dog Luna's best interests at heart and I feel it every time we visit. Luna is happy with him as well, a good sign!My last dog Shadow had Congestive Heart Failure and the vet I was using did not diagnose her properly. Doc Hughes did and recommend an amazing Cardiologist for her, and I am convinced those 2 helped to keep Shadow alive for almost 15 years. Her heart was bad but thanks to them she lived well to her last day.David and all the staff, are caring kind people and I have no desire to go anywhere else.

Great people to work with! I would absolutely trust them with the care of my pets.

Been to this vet a couple times now, they referred my dog to a dermatologist. So far Dr. Hughes has been great and the morning desk folks are so nice! But i called this afternoon, the lady introduced herself, I politely asked if they did deep ear cleanings, her response was a very rude "Well we do, but if we havent seen you before, we have to examine them *scoffs* we dont just do ear cleanings for any dog that comes in" Seriously? Maybe ask if they are currently a patient first before being so judgemental and rude? The rest of the conversation went downhill from there and i just hung up.

We have transferred our pets' care away from this office twice. The vet is nasty, uncaring and not someone I want caring for my loved ones.

This is the first vet in years that my dog Harley has been comfortable to be around. When I rescued her she was terrified of the vet and it has always been a very stressful experience for her. When we pulled up to dogwood she walked right in! Usually it takes 3 or 4 people to get her out of the car. The vet is practical and always willing to work with you to create a plan based around your abilities without making you feel bad about it. I’ll never go anywhere else for my dog.

If you love your pet do not bring them to this guy. Dr Hughes. He's very rude and incompetent. I had a cat with cancer and he told me to get his teeth cleaned. Quoted me like $350 for that. Cat ended up needing to go to the hospital. My cat lost 10 pounds and this guy thought maybe he had a tooth ache. Real vet that cared told me he needed blood work and it came back he had cancer and kidney issues. If i had taken to a competent vet it would have saved my cat a lot of suffering and i would have saved a lot of money. Please do not bring your loved ones to this man.

We started taking our kitten here for routine care because they're close, easy to schedule and super nice. I've had great experiences every time I've had interactions, and I feel their team has the best interest in my cats welfare.

Don’t go here and have your pet neutered or spade guess what? This place will likely give your dog massive infection. Don’t go here if you want to keep your pet alive

Dogwood is great. The pacific islander restaurant across the parking lot is fantastic

Called to see about an appointment and was told I had to pay the fee over the phone to hold the appointment. Rather ridiculous to expect a payment over the phone. I’ve never seen such bad service at veterinary clinics then here in Portland!

Just because you can get an appointment within a week, you shouldn't! (There's a reason why every vet in Gresham is out a month or two). If you love your pets DO NOT GO HERE

Rude and not very compassionate. I just wanted to find out if there are any openings so they could look at my pets paw and they told me they are not a hospital. Dogwood Pet hospital said they are not a hospital. I will never go Back or recommend them.

The love that the entire team at Dogwood shows your pet is the reason I have brought my animals here for the last 10 years and even through the hard times, like having to put our beloved cat to rest, they have always managed to make the whole situation less painful. I am beyond grateful for all that Dr. Hughes and his team have done for all of my animals. I will always recommend Dogwood and will never go anywhere else. I promise you won't find a better veterinarian office.

The entire staff at Dogwood are kind, compassionate and make doing the hard things like unexpected emergencies a little less awful. My family and I have taken all of our animals here for the last 10 years, this is the ONLY place I will ever recommend and take my animals too. You can feel the love they have for your pet when you walk in and Dr. Hughes is extremely knowledgeable and always puts the care of the animals first. If any of your fur babies need a checkup or anything, take them to Dogwood Pet Hospital, you won't be disappointed.
