This is a brief explanation of the discriminatory incident that I experienced with an unnamed employee. I will also be filing a formal complaint, with an official letter to be delivered to the Dollar General in Merlin, Oregon.I went to the Dollar General location in Merlin, Oregon at 9:40 pm. As I went to pay for my Items, my card was declined due to a chip malfunction. I left all 3 items that I had brought up, apologized for the inconvenience, and then went and grabbed another card and came back into pay 10 minutes later and the incident began at around 9:54 pm. When I walked into the store, the lady behind the cashier stepped out and immediately greeted me by saying "You were acting sketchy and I checked the cameras, your head was down." and "My card machine is messed up because of you." I asked her why I would come back to pay for my items if she believed I was guilty of something illegal, and explained that my chip malfunctioned and I left to grab another card. I then asked her if I was still able to shop and pay for my things. She said yes, but then stared me down the whole time I was waiting in line. I then asked for her manager's name and number, and she says she was not allowed to give that information out. Then when I asked when her manager was to come in next she replied, "I am the manager for the night." Fellow customers were talking to me and the ones closest to the employee in question were able to hear that she was racially profiling me and whispering offensive slurs about me, which I was not able to hear but others were. Other customers were defending me, and telling me that what she was doing was wrong. I was trying to remain calm while she publicly humiliated me for no reason and without any proof of any wrongdoing. I believe the fact that people were not on her side, that she began to lash out at me and I responded with sarcastic comments. Then she responds with if "If you keep talking like that you won't be able to shop here' I then told her I didn't want my business. and left to go to a different store. Before I left she said that I was 86ed from the business and was no longer allowed to shop there ever again.

A local surplus of quality items at amazing prices! This well organized store has some of the most amazing low prices that you will find. It's got that local charm feeling and whether you need a gift for someone, supplies for your pet, grocery items for dinner, home improvement supplies or other items, you should consider dropping in to this store to find something at a very reasonable price. The staff are genuine and they get you out of the store very quickly, even when the line is long.

This store is the worst managed, and worst stocked dollar general I have ever been to. There are countless towering boxes of stock invading the aisles that never seem to be worked on. The ladies that work here are lazy and do not prioritize store cleanliness or order. They have received help from other local stores and still have no clue how to run a grocery store. The older lady with white hair needs to be fired. She cannot maintain this store. The employees here need to visit the bridge street store to see how a dollar general should look inside and out. One word to describe the effort at this location. Pathetic.

The only reason I am giving this store a 2 out of 5 is because their prices are a little higher than what it says on the app. Also I am from Gp and shopped here and the prices were higher at this location than at the ones in grants pass. The store seemed a lot smaller as well and was really crowded with product and carts. The employees seemed really stressed out and were not very friendly.
