This seems like one of few locally owned grocery stores in Corvallis, Oregon. I love the fact they are one of first grocery stores ihere to sell organic food.

First Alternative Natural Foods Co-op in Corvallis is one of the finest natural food stores, grocery stores, and Food Co-ops on the planet. I have been vegan 15 years and lived in CO, OR, CA, and now OR again. Davis has a great Co-op and Rainbow Grocery is great in San Francisco, but right here in Corvallis the Co-op sets the bar for every other place!
I went here yesterday w/ my friend from out of town and in her rental car from my abode in Eugene. If I had a car I would frequent this place every week from Eugene and still plan to go here at least a month.
The bulk section is giant. They have three kinds of hummus in bulk, vegenaise in bulk, and even daiya in bulk. Raw almond butter, several kinds of miso, and heaps of other amazing things in bulk. While Sundance in Eugene has a better hot and cold bar than here I feel that First Alternative sets the bar high from giving customers a bean to donate to 5 different local charities to using grey water to having amazing local organic sweet potatoes to 5 lbs of organic local potatoes to heaps of greens.
This Co-op was featured in vegan body builder Robert Cheeke's documentary w/ Vega founder Brendan Brazier and performance artist Tonya Kay.
If you are in OR you must check out:
First Alternative in Corvallis, People's Co-op in Portland, Sundance in Eugene, and the Co-op in Ashland.

Vegan options are plentiful and really tasty. Produce solid, everything great…a little pricey but that's to be expected.

I like the co-op. It's all quality products and the local products I like. The staff is friendly enough but there are some that really go above and beyond. Their hot food is usually nice and I especially enjoy the soups and baked goods. However, they don't really have much of a seating area anymore so it's all to go which I don't like as much. The main downside for me is the cost, but for the quality it's worth it.

Amazing all around. Wonderful staff, great variety of produce, hot food, pastries, groceries, and more. Deals are regularly available and there's always something new to try. Get their Chocolate Orange Cheesecake if you can.

Everytime I shop here ? I feel annoyed by how extraordinarily high the prices are, this has to be the most pretentious healthfood store on the west coast! I think they must have meetings about how high they can get away with pricing things before the middle-class yuppies revert to whole foods...They have a monopoly on the locally owned healthfood stores in Corvallis as the other coop is run by the same people, so prices are extraordinarily high too... If you want a real quality healthfood store that's focused on quality and not on profit, go to Eugene.. go to Sundance foods or the kiva , or even the co-op in Ashland, or, and see how a healthfood store should be run! This healthfood store is Just for pretends for all the pretendians in Corvallis who feign humanity, but really only care about money . They forget that poor people are the ones who began the healthfood industry in this country...

I had a concern, expressed it here, management responded immediately and treated me very well, which I very much appreciated. It was a pleasant interaction that reflected well on the business.

From out of town, wanted to find a local co op and was blown away by this store. I was impressed BEFORE I found the lower level with the wines and bulk foods and gifts. I will be going back later this weekend to do all of my Christmas shopping. Every person was smiling and helpful. Corvallis you are LUCKY to have such a beautiful co-op and I am so happy to have found it! Go Beavs!

I just can’t say enough good things about this place, these people, and the product offerings. I moved away from Corvallis a few years ago, but the kind folks at the Co-op continue to provide me with my favorite whole coffee beans from afar. My favorite things about the co-op are the soup/salad bar, the delicious fresh-n-ready sandwiches, desserts, coffee, produce, and of course the amazing bulk foods section. Both locations are amazing for general groceries, a quick meal, or even awesome locally made treasures. I miss being able to treat myself to a beautiful fresh flower bouquet. Really. I just miss Corvallis in general. If you find yourself in town, check this place out. You won’t be disappointed!
