Unfortunate to be writing this review. Wanted to form a relationship with a local shop. Had a ball joint failure and insurance covered the entire bill. Asked them to bill insurance for as much as they could, I also specifically asked for OEM parts. The repair took 24 days. They didn't install a rotor properly and my entire wheel assembly was wobbly. Alignment was never true took it to another shop to finish that. My front tires have now been wearing unevenly. Took it back into the shop and they said I will need another rack and pinion to replace the one they replaced 25 months ago. They said my shocks were worn and that caused the rack and pinion to fail. Again I told them to replace whatever they wanted with the insurance check they said the shocks were fine at time of original repair.
Perhaps if OEM parts were used, perhaps if rotors were properly installed the first time. This wouldn't have popped up in less that 20k miles of driving.
I tried to be patient and friendly with these guys. I do believe they are hard workers and I hate to speak poorly of local business. But it has been an unsatisfactory experience.
They gladly overcharge for subpar parts. I think this shop will survive on warranty and insurance claims but if you are looking to pay out of pocket it might be best to look around.

5/22: I brought my vehicle in after calling around to multiple locations for a air conditioner evacuation and recharge so that I could get my water pump repaired. I was quoted a reasonable price when I called so booked a next day appointment. When I went to pick up my vehicle I was told that the actual price was going to be $160 more then quoted and they did this work without calling me to tell me about any change in pricing otherwise I would have picked up my truck and had somebody else do it. They also claimed that the freon that was evacuated and captured was unable to be used which is against standard practice for evacuation and recharge. I feel their process was deceptive, dishonest and misleading.
5/27: Have since talked to a warranty adjuster and 4 other shops and 5 out of 5 people/shops I talked to agreed that they would charge only for needed refrigerant as the R1234yf is recycled by the machine that is used to evacuate meaning they are double dipping on the service.

This shop did a pre purchase inspection for me when I was out of state. They were easy to work with and happy to talk to me on the phone multiple times.

And I took my Ford f150 to Northgate auto early july, its still there and theyve invested a whole hour to the truck. During that hour they managed to lose power to the starter and completely destroy the steering column. There was some play from left to right before i took it to Northgate auto, but now the whole things moves up and down a good inch and the truck doesn't start. I still was charged for that hour of service, gotten multiple excuses as to why the truck has not been fixed or even looked at without breaking someting. Initially is was thet only had one mechanic able to work on late model manual trucks, then somebody was sick for weeks, then its a parts issue, then theyre guys been wrapped up on another project........ then yell me these things and dont take the truck to start with. I would have appreciated the straight forwardness and honesty then the costly, delayed, shit show scenario i have to deal with now. They take no accountability and im left eating the cost for a more effed up truck. Now, i have to find another mechanic and have it towed when it started and drove fine before going here. I had just used it as a daily driver for two weeks on a demo job and it drove fine, minus the clutch issue, wich is why it was there to start with. Im a repeat customer but ill never be taking a vehicle to northgate auto again, unless by some miracle a business actually does what is expected and practices good ethics. My one minor issue just became 3, i paid to get my truck back in worse condition than when it got there, now I can't work. I'm pretty fired up about this one. I could have broken the truck on my own and saved myself the frustration, work progress and money.... .oh thought this would be helpful too. The vehicle I had in prior to the truck had an oil cooler leak, initially invoices at 940, because this included a 300 dollar battery I didn't ask for or need. I've tested the battery, it tests good on my end. I also find it interesting their's of services on yelp says free estimates, if by free they actually mean 135 dollars an hour then this would be accurate. Thanks

Excellent service. 40 years of experience. Diagnosis is spot-on and they get the job done right. Diagnosed to replace the original battery after two other shops claimed it was fine (until I was stranded and called Joe Palmeri). Professional family business that excels in engine overhauls and far beyond the simple stuff.

This company blatantly lied and said they flushed my heater and that it needed a heating core. I got a second opinion and discovered it had not been flushed. I had it flushed and it worked fine. These people have no shame.

I had a 2006 Toyota Tacoma suffering from a fuel issue. I had been to four other shops before taking it to the Joes. Joe Junior and Joe Senior managed to figure out what the problem was. It was kind of like magic. It was so nice to have consistent horsepower And not have to worry about my truck anymore. And I like them.
