I have known Ron for a long time! He has worked on many of my cars (Volkswagen, Benz) and I even got to be his UPS driver for some time. Please, don’t let some of these reviews scare you, he is a brilliant mechanic and a very nice person. He is EXTREMELY busy, I have seen him try to juggle customers waiting in person to talk, while working on a rig, while a parts delivery is there that’s messed up, while I’M there… when the phone rings. I don’t blame him for being overwhelmed because I know Ron: he is as genuine as they come and he sincerely wants to take the time that each job requires to do it right. I highly recommend.

Ron is fantastic and helped me with a challenging problem with my Mercedes SL. He's very knowledgeable, thorough and realistic about expectations. He genuinely wants to help and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for Mercedes service!

I own a 1973 BMW 2002 tii here in Bend. I have dropped by Autohaus a number of times since moving to Bend 6 years ago and have always enjoyed talking with Ron about cars. One time I showed up in my tii and Ron noticed my idle was low, we popped the hood and he had her purring at 1,000 rpm in a few minutes, no charge! Most of the work on my tii I do myself. Recently I’ve been dealing with a broken driver’s side window regulator… with the heat of the summer I was getting frustrated and hot driving around with the window held up by a C clamp! I pulled out the regulator and after about 3-4 attempts trying to repairing and re-install it I could only get the window working about 80% up and down movement. I pulled out the regulator again and took it to Ron to show him what I had done to fix it and get his opinion. After some discussion we decided it needed a little drilling, thread tapping and a little “Rongenering”! Ron had the job done in about 15 minutes. I took the regulator home reinstalled it and I now have a driver’s side window that works 100% thanks to Ron and some “Rongenering”! Cheers, Wilson

Some back ground information. The subject vehicle is a 1970 BMW 2800 with very low mileage. One owner. Stored for 32 years in a garage attached to a home in Northern California. My plan was to have it trailered to Bend, Oregon. I had arranged to have the BMW brought back to life by a long time mechanic employed by German Master Tech of Bend. By the time the BMW arrived in Bend, the mechanic had retired. The owner ofGerman Master Tech, Tim Morris (no relation) told me there wasonly one mechanic in Bend that he felt was qualified to take on the project of bringing the classic BMW back to life. Tim introduced me to Ron, the sole owner of Autohaus of Bend. Ron has 35 plus years of experience in Bend. The BMW was delivered to Autohaus on 10/3/2022. The job was completed on 11/18/2022. During the 7 weeks I would receive updates on the required work 2 to 3 times each week. On the more detailed and costly repairs, Ron had me come to the shop so I couldsee the repairs that were required. Transparency is a number one concern to Ron. I have owned many vehicles over 55 plus years. Eleven were BMW's. Ron is the most honest and qualified mechanic that I have had the pleasure to work with. On the onset, Ron provided me with a written estimate. Ron made it very clear that there were a lot of unknowns. The BMW was manufactured 52 years ago. Some parts that would need to be replaced may not be available. Some of the existing parts would need to be refurbished or possibly fabricated. Ron did whatever was required to do the job correctly. His experience prove to beinvaluable. Absolutely no short cuts. Ron spent many hours on the internet looking for parts. I am sure that I was not charged for some of those hours. Ron has a passion for his work. His passion really becomes apparent when he is faced with resolving problems when working on classic vehicles. I am 100%satisfied with the results of bringing the BMW back to life.Personal note: There are a few negative reviews. From my experience, some of these reviews are the results of not following some basic rules that Ron has set forth. One rule ismaking appointments. Once you have an appointment make sure you are on time. If you find you are running late, call andlet Ron know. Remember that Ron is a one man show. Everyminute of his time is very valuable. Ron is very straight forward. If you listen and abide by the rules you will have no problems.Ron is an amazing mechanic.Services: General repairs & maintenance

Ron recently serviced my classic Volvo. The job ended up being more work than originally anticipated, and Ron was very clear and transparent with what the car needed and even took the extra time for myself to find parts for the car. He did great work, at a great price. He was the ONLY shop I could find in Central Oregon willing to work on a 80s Volvo, I’ll be back for more work in the future!Service: Auto maintenance

Called looking to get my Benz taken care of. Ron answered and then hung up on me before breathing on the line like a creep for 30 seconds. I called back confused wondering if maybe he was having technical difficulties. Ron answered again super rudely. He referred to me by my name, which I hadn't given him. I assume it showed up on caller id and he didn't just look up my number or something (I hope). Anyway, he was extremely dismissive, and said my information is very confusing and LOOKS unpleasant. I had only given him the make, model and year, so I do not know what he meant by any of that. He was extremely aggressive and sounded like he was genuinely angry with me when I just wanted to inquire about some service. The second call ended with being hung up on a second time. Ron clearly has some mental health issues. Would give zero stars if I could.

I have a 1992 BMW E30 as well as an old Mercedes that I have been searching for someone to regularly do routine service on. My dad speaks broken English as Spanish is his native form of speech. He informed me that he was kicked out by the owner and pretty much refused service on our 79 300SD TD. Looking at past reviews on here regarding this persons impatience and rude being makes it clear that they are purely someone who has little respect for anyone. We love this car and have been wanting to invest a little money to bring more life to it. It’s disappointing for the owner to have let racism get in the way of earning our business. Very unacceptable for a local business.

Extremely unpleasant owner/mechanic. Do not expect to be treated as a respected customer, THIS MAN HAS ANGER ISSUES. Do expect to pay big dollars for mediocre work.

We have been delighted with the service and advice that we have received from Ron, the owner and sole proprietor of Auto Haus of Bend. A superb and experienced mechanic, Ron has seen it all with vehicles such as our older MB 560SL. We appreciate and trust Ron's direct, no-nonsense style. He does not waste time - his or his clients'. He provides us with clear options and solutions for keeping our vehicle in excellent condition, with a view toward keeping our maintenance and repair costs reasonable, and he completes his work in a timely and professional manner. Couldn't ask for more, as far as we're concerned! Highly recommended, at five out of five stars.

I am surprised to read the bad reviews! Ron seems like a character, it's true, but he was kind and generous with his time and advice when I stopped by without an appointment to see if he could check out my Mini with a new, dreaded "check engine" light. Not what you want to see as you're heading into the mountains for a camping trip, miles from home (and car repair...), on vacation with a dog riding shotgun in a packed car. Ron checked it out for me, went beyond reading the error code to make sure all was well... then sent me off with a "no charge... enjoy your time in the mountains." I'm not local... so no follow up business from me. What a great experience during such difficult times.

I was calling to get a diagnostic quote for a cylinder misfire showing on my code reader & a variable idle on my MINI. Before I could even get that far he stops the conversation, angrily tells me that I’m talking over him, then says he’s not going to work on my car and hangs up. Weirdest business call I’ve ever had and was doing some introspection on my approach-then I checked the reviews here & on Yelp. Don’t let this guy make you question humanity, just believe the negative similar reviews and go somewhere else!
