Food, tap list, beer, service, atmosphere--ALL were 5 star. The four of us went for lunch and ordered: Rachel (the special--sauerkraut and turkey); Virgil, Reuben, and a burger. Everyone gobbled up their meal. All of us were very pleased. From reviews here and the online menu we decided this place would be worth a try. Granted, we got there at 2 pm. on a Monday, but the grill/cafe was nearly empty (one person at the bar.) We were the only table of folks eating at the time. The food was delivered to us quickly. Fresh and delicious. And good value. We plan to go back!

One of my absolute favorite places to grab lunch. Their Smash Burgers are out of this world! I also love, love, love their sandwiches. The pastrami sandwich has some of the freshest pastrami around. Also, they have a wide selection of craft/local beers and wines. Everything is new inside and the the cafe gives modern retro vibes on a low key level. Sit inside at the bar, at a table, or in a booth! They also have quaint, enclosed patio with picnic tables where you can enjoy your food with a cold brew and a spring breeze. What more could you want.

We were big fans of their Multnomah Village location and we're thrilled that they now have a Beaverton location. One half of their pub/shop is a retail store selling a huge variety of beer and wine. They have both cold and room temp beers from around the world....a beer lovers paradise. The other half is a tap room with 12 or so alternating taps and various ciders. The biggest draw for John's is their food. The menu is simple and the prices are fantastic. The burgers are simply the best. The meat is very high quality and they are always perfectly prepared and so well priced. The Rueben is also very good. The staff is friendly service is quick.

This place was SUPER cool! It reminded me and my husband of a place we love back home in Austin called the Whip In.John's has a separate room for buying specialty, local, and import bottles/6 packs. You can purchase a can or bottle and bring it to the restaurant part, pay a opening fee, and enjoy it with your food. The Reuben sandwich was hearty and delicious. I personally loved the options on their menu, and the prices were quite affordable. Servers and bar staff were friendly and fast. 10/10!

REPLY TO OWNER:Beer: Higher on some, lower on others? You are definitely higher on almost everything. You price by the unit. I've priced out a six pack that would cost $15 here, while the same thing at a grocery store is $12.Grill: Slight increase? One example, the double burger went from $6 to $8 a couple years ago, now $12. 12-8/8 = 50% increase. That is not slight at all.Cork fee: Not just a bar or taproom? Then what else are you? John's is not a full service restaurant. Pouring into a glass ensures people are of legal age? No, checking their ID does. "Making sure they paid"? A receipt does that. "Enjoyed in a proper glass"? You have 2 beer glasses, hardly a selection. I understand the fee helping to pay for other items and I think that is the real reason along with extra profit. I disagree that most bottle shops have a cork fee. I've been to several without any.You are a business, not a charity, and in it for profit. I get that. I'm not mad at any business for wanting to make money. What I don't like is being nickeled and dimed.I will still be a patron, but much less often than before, and I simply won't use the grill again.*****I will give 3 stars. Good location given that the store is much smaller than Multnomah.John's prices have always been on the high side since it is a specialty store. They charge by the bottle, so it is definitely more expensive than a grocery store, albeit with a larger selection.I think the food is very overpriced what you get. I remember one of the ladies at Multnomah a couple years ago said that the supplier really jacked up the costs, so the owners had to raise their prices. Did they look for another supplier? For the small size, I can't justify the cost, so I no longer buy them. The biggest thing that honestly upsets me they did is charging a cork fee to open a can. It literally takes 1-2 seconds to open it, yet it costs $1. I had one employee at Multnomah tell me "are you going to stress over that?" Ummm yeah considering it is literally nothing but free money for the owner. I have only been to one other place with a cork fee. I don't go there anymore. John's claims the cork fee is due to increased costs, yet they had enough money to open the Beaverton store. Hence the cork free is just extra pocket money.I only go here every few months. Decent selection, overpriced food, and I hate the cork fee. Otherwise It's fine.I'm sure if the brothers reply it will be something like "thanks for your business!" or something like that. Please get rid of the cork fee and I may come here more often. And no brothers, most bars and taprooms do not charge that.

A great place for a smash burger and trying a huge variety of beer. Service is always great and patio is the place on a warm day. No frills as it should be.

What a wonderful find! Directly across the street from the food truck park, parking is a bit of an issue. They have their own off-street parking but it's pretty small so you'll likely have to find a spot on the street. This place has an impressive selection of craft beers from around the world. Unexpectedly, they have a smaller but interesting selection of wines. They have a truly impressive selection of vermouths, many of which I had not seen before.I ordered a nice Belgian ale that was on tap (see photo). The barkeep was quite proud of his accomplishment of finding a supply of kegs of this brew as well he should be.We all ordered sandwich's and grabbed a table while we could, as the lunch crows was streaming in.Their food menu is small, a few grilled sandwiches and some burgers, but my Swanky was really delicious.Of course we had to purchase a basket of brews - they sell individual cans and bottles so you can try out a new brew without spending a fortune. We'll be back! I want to try one of their burgers next time, maybe with a gose.
