When it became time to rid ourselves of the tired and dated 1990’s bathrooms, we did what everyone else did. Went thru Yelp to find a contractor. After endless bids and not one seeming to stand out, a friend told me about Custom NW Remolding and Floors. He had nothing but amazing things to say about Custom NW and what an amazing job they did on his house. I gave them a call and I am glad I did.Brad came out to our house and we walked thru our small hallway and primary bathrooms. We got two quotes and decided to start with the hallway bathroom last year. This year we did the primary bathroom and what an amazing job they did to both. The crew is friendly and hard working. We were kept informed on what was next and they took extra care of our house. They put down paper and/or plastic over floors, stairs and furniture.Tear out is messy and dusty. They cleaned up after tear out and then hauled away everything. No large dumpster outside of our house. When we were nearing the end and the final touches were being placed, (towel bars, handles and knobs on cabinets and the little details) all the boxes everything came in was taken out and disposed by the company. The first pics are the small hallway bath and the latest project we just completed. We love both bathrooms!!! We still have more to do, like our kitchen and we will be returning. Give Custom NW a call for your project. You will be glad you did.Services: Tile work installation

I couldn’t be happier with my bathroom remodel! The workmanship was professional, especially by Chris, whose attention to detail in the tile installation was top tier. It was a real pleasure working with this team.Services: Tile work installation

Brad quoted quickly. Same week as inquiry. Timely ordering material and start date. Office staff kept us in the communication loop. Job was to replace 2 sets of stairs complete remodel, and added iron spinals, cut staircase, new rails-treads and risers-stained wood perfect to our request. Their craftsman Lewis was Amazing!!! ***** Commnication, problem solving, caring about the quality and our needs the whole step of the way!Sam and Candy -Service: Interior structural repairs

We contracted Custom NW Remodeling to remodel our kitchen and upgrade the floors in our dining hall. We are very happy with the result. It looks fantastic and the quality of product was beyond my expectation. I appreciated how the team promoted value over cost and that they were responsive to our asks. I would have no problem recommending them to anyone who is looking to remodel.

Custom NW is a great choice for flooring. We had our dining room, living room, and office redone using prefinished hardwood, plus a family room and three stairs with new carpeting, and a laundry room and panty with new vinyl. The installation crews were great--they all did their work efficiently and finished on time as promised. The main hardwood installer, Eube, deserves special mention because of his considerateness, thoroughness, and high level of craftsmanship--in short, he's a real artist at installing hardwood floors. Highly recommended.Services: Repair flooring

We got three bids and chose Custom NW and are glad we did- our only concern was communication on the first day of the job when I had to call twice to find out there was a one- day delay due to a staffing no-show. After that, everything went perfectly. The crew was efficient, organized, professional, friendly, and highly competent. They encountered two structural issues they couldn't have anticipated ( we have an old house) and resolved them quickly and creatively. We DO recommend them. Thank you, Brad, Rusty, Eubi, and Trent. - Bart and Sallie in Hillsdale, Portland

As soon as we walked in the door we new this was the place. The staff are top notch and the quality of work is wonderful. We re-designed our fireplace, had entry way tile installed, new stairs, hardwood floors, counter tops, walnut: bar top/mantle/coffee station, backsplash, and a custom hand rail for stairs. Our place looks so classy and is so inviting, perfect ambience. I highly recommend Custom NW, we are already thinking about phase 2 for upstairs.Services: Install flooring

TLDR; Notice how this business says it's "closed"? Interesting, because while the legal entity might have changed, it is the same group of people running the establishment known as Custom NW. Going through a major name change and then trying to appear as if the original business is "closed" is a pretty shady move when it's the same people running the show. Really seems like you're trying to outrun your negative reviews. Avoid at all costs. For real, save yourself a huge headache and don't get into business with them. Custom NW (also known as Carey's Custom Flooring) is a shady company that will take your deposit and immediately becomes impossible to contact, they will move the start date of your project multiple times (and only tell you after you've proactively contacted them), they will improperly project manage the work, and they will add exorbitant change requests at every turn. (Oh - and when they forget to submit the change request to the homeowner for approval, WHICH THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO DO BEFORE ANY OF THE CHANGE REQUESTED WORK IS COMPLETED - they will add the charge retroactively and act like this is perfectly appropriate and/or expected business conduct. So, yes, SURPRISE additional charges await you if you work with this company.) Beware - once they have your deposit, they will become almost impossible to contact, and you will have to manage every detail of the project very closely to keep them on track. I had a relatively simple and relatively small project to complete that included replacing carpet with Vinyl Plank, redoing a staircase, and refinishing hardwood floors. Maximum coverage was around 400 sq ft. I got an estimate in midsummer, and the deposit was submitted in early September. This project was supposed to start in November and wrap up before Thanksgiving. First, it was pushed back to mid-December, and then it got pushed to the beginning of January. It is now mid-February and the project is STILL not complete. There were some delays in obtaining supplies, HOWEVER, had they properly managed this project and had me pick out finishes and details before the project started, there wouldn't have been such a long delay in acquiring materials. Before my project started, I had to call them multiple times to try and get someone to talk to me and answer my questions. They were consistently unprofessional, and I was very unhappy already, but I was locked in due to the deposit so I tried my best to make it work. The first set of people who worked on my property were ok, but their work was solidly average, if that. Picture attached where they left a huge gap between the installed flooring and the existing bathtub (and just filled it in with caulking). I didn't complain because of the aforementioned issues with getting in touch with these folks, and at this point, I was ready for them to get out of my house and move on. Then, Lewis came in to start the work on the staircase and the stairs. Lewis is the only person I've interacted with at this company that is consistently professional, communicative, and very easy to work with. I would honestly rather work directly with him and pay him the money rather than give it to the people that "run" this business. He was absolutely great, no complaints at all about him - would happily have him work on my house in the future. Finally, the floor refinish work was supposed to start this week. I hadn't heard ANYTHING from Custom NW so I reached out (again) via email to confirm that the work was starting as expected. Of course, there was some emergency and they were so sorry but they would need to delay the refinish by another month. This was the last straw - This SMALL project was supposed to wrap up by end of November, and we are approaching the end of February. After complaining about the timeline extension, they offered to give me a spot in two weeks, but then couldn't pick up the phone to give me a call and confirm the work to be done. It's truly astonishing how bad they are at basic c

After getting a couple of bids for a major kitchen remodel and new hardwoods throughout our house, we selected Carey Custom Floors, which I guess is now called Custom NW Remodeling. Their pricing was competitive, and they seemed experienced and knowledgeable. Our project was pretty sizeable at approximately $100k. It consisted of taking down walls, moving electrical and plumbing, turning a bathroom into a pantry, and a complete high end new kitchen. We also installed approximately 1500 sq ft of new hardwood floors. We even had to install a large new beam in order to get rid of a load bearing wall.Brad was our project manager. He is great to work with - very knowledgeable, always pleasant to be around and communicated well. The project did take a bit longer than originally estimated, but we expected that to be the case for a project of this size. We had a number of different workers that contributed to the project from demo until the end, and liked just about all of them. We trusted them in our home and they all seemed to care a lot about their work. Our finished remodel turned out unbelievable. Our kitchen is a thing of beauty and every guest we have over is amazed by the quality of the work. The floors are gorgeous and I feel they did a terrific job on the install. They even had to deal with running hardwoods up to multiple stone walls and a stone fireplace, which I was originally really concerned with because I didn't know how the transition from hardwood to an extremely uneven surface would look. Like everything else in our project, this turned out fantastic and looks better than I could have imagined.I have recommended Carey Custom Floors to many friends and will continue to do so in the future!

If you’re looking to manage your own job, make regular calls to find out the status of the work, and get end-of-day email responses (conveniently timed so that they’re closed if you call to discuss) and have the entire job done at the convenience of the contractor- this company is for you. You”ll even get to match and purchase your own paint and do some of the touch ups!I could go into greater detail, but enough of my time has been wasted working to get this job finished after 5 weeks (we were told it was a one week job)of having people in and out of the house. Besides, based on the email responses I received from the office manager, I’m sure their response will include putting the blame on me with one of the many excuses I heard throughout the project.Put half down July 7th and the job finished yesterday.. Lewis and Rusty produced a quality end result and were great, but I had to do my own punch list and hold back the second half of payment to ensure the company would send them back to finish.Service: Interior decorating

After getting a couple of bids for a major kitchen remodel and new hardwoods throughout our house, we selected Carey Custom Floors. Their pricing was competitive, and they seemed experienced and knowledgeable. I'm EXTREMELY glad that I didn't see their Yelp reviews, or we likely wouldn't have chosen them. I'm very surprised to see the negativity, as our experience was fantastic. Our project was pretty sizeable at approximately $100k. Carey Custom Floors & Remodeling did another major project for me, by building a new deck. The employees are all perfectionists, and the deck is spectacular. This completely transforms my home. I absolutely recommend this great company.Carey Custom Floors & Remodeling did tremendous work on my Master bathroom remodel, and also the tiling of utility room floor (and beautiful paint work too). Like most people, I enter my home through the garage, and then the utility room, and it is now a beautiful place. It was a bit of a nightmare before.Carey employees completely built a new shower to replace the original fiberglass "one piece molded shower", and their work made the tiles I had selected look far more beautiful than I ever imagined. Their work was so beautiful that I kept adding on to the original project, and had the shower tile extended to cover the main bathroom floor and Master closet as well. I could not be happier with this beautiful and expertly constructed project, and I am already planning to do more. They deserve the highest possible recommendation. Be sure to visit their website and showroom for beautiful tile selections, design help, and other products and services.A great group of very talented, knowledgeable, and skilled people, and a company you can trust.

Wow, they just keep digging this hole deeper! I called and emailed *multiple times* after they missed the appointment, and they never responded. This response just continues to point to the lack of professionalism of this company, I think they speak for themselves.

I had contacted Custom Nw Remodeling for an estimate to remodel my whole kitchen. I spoke with Evelyn and gave her all my info. I was told someone would contact me. Two weeks later I called back because I still havent had anybody contact me. Jean answered this time and I was told they had no info for me. She wanted all my information again and told me someone would contact me shortly. Again no body contacted me. I guess customer service is not their top priority. This was a complete waste of time. They are not organized and seams like nobody knows what they are doing when you call.Service: Remodelling

I can not stress enough their inability to communicate and their lack of professionalism at every level. They will retain your payment information. They will use it without consent, they will ignore you when asked about it. Dan is far more concerned with letting his customers know that Oregon law states Carey Custom Floors & Remodeling get the first chance to repair the damage they caused. Just get someone else.
