I have tried a few other shops in Beaverton and none of them are as good as these guys. Always helpful and do quality work. I have been going here for 5 years now. They have always done right by me and they are the only shop that I trust.

Had our car for 8 weeks. Not good about communication. Didn't finish work. Rude desk person in repairs.
Read their responses to negative reviews, there's a culture of lying and rude attitude. Do not use this place.

I have waited nearly 3 months to get my truck back and they just beat around the bush and make storys up about what's wrong with your vehicle.. I would recommend having a second opinion before committing to these guys. All I want is my truck back

My Jeep Wrangler 2014 had been thru hell, I previously had a mechanic shop out in SE Portland that did shoddy work at best, and after several returns on repairs that were not done right, I gave up and searched for a new mechanic. That's when I found Canyon Auto Repair in Tigard. I had first contact with Thomas, the repair shop manager, and he made an excellent impression right from the start. He really listened to the issues I had with my Jeep, and scheduled for me to come in to have it thoroughly inspected. As my husband and I suspected, gaskets, oil cooler destroyed, and the entire cooling system filled with oil and coolant, mixed. Due to having 145,000 miles on it and previous bad history with having gaskets, oil cooler, radiator, hoses, thermostats replaced in the past, only to have repeat problems, we agreed it was time for a new engine, and to have all hoses, radiator, water pump, thermostat and other parts replaced. Thomas took the time to shop around for the best re manufactured engine for my Jeep, and after getting a quote, I did call a couple other reputable shops to compare, but Thomas had the best price, beating the others by a couple grand, or better. As soon as the engine arrived, he called me up to come see it, and it was so beautiful, and shiny, brought tears to my eyes! We paid most of the repairs up front, and financed the rest thru Koali, the finance company they use, and Thomas helped me set it up right there and then. Seriously, this was the customer service that I have been looking for for years, such a nice man. Long story shortened, he made sure they got right on it, and had my baby running like a dream about a week later, which is fast considering what a huge job this was, everything was replaced, and up to Jeep/Chrysler specs! He even made sure that the mechanics put the right coolant in. Jeep Wranglers that are 2012 or newer MUST have OAT coolant, other coolants, which are much cheaper, will damage the engine, which was one of the problems that I kept having with prior shops, they wouldn't listen to me, but Thomas new exactly what the Jeep requirements were. Now that's awesome customer service. I am convinced that if I had found this shop years ago, I could have saved myself thousands of dollars, and so many sleepless night worrying about my Jeep. Trust me folks, I don't usually write reviews, but I had to share my story. If you want prompt, fair service from people with integrity, that will treat you like family, like you matter, go here. This is my shop from now on, and ask for Thomas, a good, kind, and honest man, he will take care of you! Margaret Savage.

2013 Dodge Grand Caravan Problem: I took my wife's van into Beaverton Canyon Auto for a loud front end rattling noise. The noise was extreme when idling and after slight acceleration. Also, the noise was more prevalent when the AC was turned on. During normal driving, the noise seemed to disappear and would only come back at a stop light with the engine idling. At Canyon auto, a quick noise diagnosis with the service manager John and he suspected that it may be the ac compressor or idler pulley. Of course, for proper verification the van would need to be brought in for further troubleshooting. We left the van at Canyon auto on Wednesday 7/19/23 morning and on Thursday morning I received a call from John the service manager and he communicated that we had a bad power steering pump. This was surprising to me as the power steering didn't have any abnormal symptoms and seemed to be working fine. He assured me that this was the problem.Friday morning John called informing me that the steering pump had been replaced and the major issue and noise was gone. He stated that there was still a small rattling noise due to a broken bolt on the exhaust flange. When we went to pick up the van, the exact same noise was still there. I was upset and didn't want to pay for the power steering pump. He dropped the charge and said they would replace the ac compressor on Monday 7/24/23 morning. We brought the van home and let it sit for the weekend. Tuesday morning the van was brought in for the ac compressor replacement. This didn't fix the noise, John then told me that the idler pulley and belt tensioner was replaced. The noise was still there, they then replaced the alternator, and the noise was still there. After a week of this frustration and misdiagnoses Canyon auto had the audacity to tell me that this noise was coming from the loose exhaust flange. We ended up paying them $380 for an oil change and alternator that didn't need to be replaced. We took the van to the Beaverton exhaust specialist and gave him the history of the problem. He fixed the flange and replaced the broken bolt for free. He also diagnosed that the rattling noise was coming from the transmission. We then took the van into Beaverton transmission. To cut a long story short, the root cause of the rattle was a broken flex plate in the transmission, an $1800 repair. If Canyon auto are alleged to be a professional auto repair shop and have some respectable reviews, why couldn't they have diagnosed this problem the first day? The exhaust guy diagnosed the root cause issue in 5 minutes using a stethoscope. ***Customer Beware of Canyon auto's sketchy quality of troubleshooting and dishonest business tactics. I say dishonest because they were trying to give us the van back after the alleged initial repair (power steering pump) and wanting to charge us $750 while it still had the exact same rattling noise. There also appears to be no indication of a new power steering pump or ac compressor installation. Were these parts even replaced. Overall it was a very bad experience and I wouldn't wish this on any future customer.

My wife went to the Tigard Canyon Auto Repair for DEQ testing since they participate in the DEQ Too program.I had my car body repaired and painted years ago.DEQ testing:The advertised fee for DEQ testing is $30 according to the DEQ website. DEQ centers charge $25, but a $5 difference is no biggie considering the convenience of not driving another 15 minutes to a testing center. However when my wife arrived the technician working my wife's car at Canyon Auto Repair at Tigard said the cost is actually around $90 (DEQ device fee = $39, DMV Registration processing fee = another $39, Shop Supplies = $8, Hazardous Materials = $3 and tax = $0.47) and that doesn't even include the $25 fee DEQ charges you plus your registration fee! That's right! All for the honor of getting tested at Canyon Auto Repair, they're going to charge you $89.47, $59.47 above the advertised price for doing a DEQ test with Canyon Auto Repair and Autobody in Tigard.Of course after my wife got there and set off to the waiting room, the mechanic approached her and said they couldn't test her car because the check engine light is on. Outside of normal operations at start up or when just using battery power, we've never had the check engine light on in all the years we've had her car. The check engine light wasn't on driving to-Canyon Auto Repair, but as soon as the mechanic touched it, it comes on? Hmm. Of course they offered to fix the problem. Thankfully, my wife wisely said "no" and will have it looked by someone else. Me.When she got home I cranked the engine and got my OBD-II ready and voila, the "check engine" light never came on! What could've possibly miraculously happened?!? I told her to not be lazy and just drive over to the Sherwood DEQ and get it tested. She did, it took less than 10 minutes for the wait and process...and most importantly, the car passed. And, all she spent on was the $25 DEQ station fee and her registration. Zero repairs needed. My advice, DO NOT GO TO CANYON AUTO REPAIR IN TIGARD FOR ANY AND ALL OF YOUR DEQ TESTING NEEDS. Don't be lazy! Just drive over to a DEQ station who's people aren't working on revenue to get your DEQ testing over with!Autobody:I've had my autobody worked on at this place years ago. They did a decent job, but I believe I got charged for stuff that was unnecessary, e.g., removal of headlights that weren't connected to anything they were working on. I actually had them remove the charge for one of my headlights. But, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed ignorance on their part and the possibility that they removed at least one of the headlights because "that's what the computer said to do". You know how that works? These independent non-specific-vehicle-certified shops get these computers that tell them exactly what to do so the techs don't have to do a lot of thinking? It sometimes compresses the time they work on your car, but it could cost the consumer extra stuff that you wouldn't otherwise had to do even if it's quicker. Of course no one is as quick on working on your car as a technician/mechanic who works on the make and model of your car all the time. Then there was the overspray on surrounding areas of where the work was being done which I had corrected later on. They also employed the worst cleanup job I've experienced from over 8 autobody shops I've had various cars worked on over the years; it was dust material inside my car and all over the other parts of the body that weren't worked on. They couldn't even just wash it down. There was more from the vent when I turned on the AC. But, their labor rates were downright cheap compared to many for this type of non-dealership-type work. So, if you're just into cheap labor and don't care about getting nickel and dimed on other stuff you don't really know about because you don't really know much about cars, then by all means this is probably not too bad of a place. Either way, I don'
