My little guy spent most of the time holding onto the side of the pool. ?
The swim instructor looked like she was young enough to be in his class.?
He received a teeny tiny bit of lesson for his 30 minute session -such a waste of money- I taught swimming for years and it was so frustrating I could barely stand it.?

I put my 9 yr old in 5 lessons. Other than the warm pool, she learned nothing new. In group lessons, the first and last are assessments. The teacher takes one child at a time during lessons, so a child may swim 1/2 lap twice the entire 30 minute lesson. 1 lesson kids just kicked on kick boards racing each other even they all were at a level they could swim basic free style without boards already. So really she ha 2 lesson with minimal instruction- no technique. I gave Beaverton Swim a center and chance and out her through 5 more. Same thing. Just paying for fun play in the water…she learned nothing new in 3 months.

I go to the shallow water aerobics class at 8AM M-W-F. Water temperature is warm but comfortable for exercise.

The locker rooms are brightly lit and very clean. The pool facility is large and also brightly lit.

Well run, staff are pleasant and efficient. Deck space is limited for meets but still good.

We tried couple levels for both kiddos, the younger age group 3Yrs was okay. The group size was not too big, instructors are really good.
On the other hand, The 6 years old group was way too bad. 30 mins class and each kid get 2-3 mins turn maximum. the entire class instructor spends looking at her file, taking and not doing much.
Overall, you get what you pay for. Quality is really bad ! Kids won't learn much. There are a lot of other alternative options around. do not waste your time and just go somewhere else

Pool 5, staff 5, locker rooms 4, toilets 2, showers negative 5.I have been swimming at the Beaverton Swim Center for more than 30 years. Our children and I have taken lessons here. It has never felt unsafe.I like the pool and the staff. The facility needs some major renovations. The toilets in the women’s locker room are crooked and frequently leaking. The stall on the left has the TP holder positioned so that it is pretty much in your lap when you are on the toilet. The showers do not have any individual temperature controls. The way they work is with one shower on they are cool. With two on they are a little warmer. The more showers that are on the warmer they get. Therefore even with only one person using the showers, hot water from 3 or 4 showers is going down the drain. It is a colossal waste of energy and water.THPRD knows about these problems but refuses to address them.

The level of competence and decency required in THPRD lifeguard staff is abhorrent. After more than a few visits and never actually conversing with lifeguards or other staff, I never had a problem of any kind. One day there was a notice on their calendar that there was an upcoming event where kids could lap swim starting in the middle of the set, standard, adult lap swim time.I forgot about this, but happened to visit. I was lap swimming, and at one point, when turning back to the start, saw a kid standing at the other end.I was swimming breast stroke, and about halfway back I slapped him.I tried to get the attention of several lifeguards, but none of them were paying attention. I helped the kid to the side and asked if he was ok. He nodded yes, but he was not able to talk and did not look anywhere close to being comfortable.I yelled at a lifeguard. They didn’t care. I told the kid I’d get help.I got out of the pool and walked into the front/main office and informed them that kids aren’t being informed of how lap swimming works, and the lifeguards were not paying attention or caring. They said they would take care of it.I went back to the pool and the kid was standing next to his dad, bawling. The dad was rightfully furious, but angry at me. He yelled at me for hitting his child. I informed him that kids were being invited to an adult lap swim without any instruction whatsoever; the staff, and therefore, unfortunately, his child were at fault.By looking at the lap swimming lanes, he realized, while his jaw dropped, that there was no instruction being given and was astounded by the lack of safety at an (un)organized event he saw just by looking at it.I’ll always remember this event as the amount of care given by THPRD.

Our family moved to OR about 2 years ago, and my now 4 year old has been to both the Tualatin Aquatic center and the Beaverton Center. We LOVE Beaverton swim. Staff is great, the instructors are friendly and very committed to their students.

All I ever wanted was a diving board. Is that too much to ask? Is it really?

If you have little ones, stay FAR away. I honestly think its only a matter of time before something really bad happens here. It worries me so much that I'm compelled to write this review and warn any parents out there. This location only has one bathroom outside of locker rooms. ONE. My 5 and 7 year old boys and I were directed to the women's locker room before their swim lessons which was apparently a mistake, but still. My poor boys did not need to see all that. So unnecessary. My boys would either have to go to the men's locker room escorted by someone we don't know or go with me to the women's locker room. Both scenarios are totally unacceptable. Based on that alone, this location is not equipped to be offering youth swim lessons, but it gets worse. The first day of lessons my 7 year old has to use the one bathroom outside of locker rooms. He waited over 20min before having an accident. I saw the person leaving was homeless and the swim center confirmed their location is also a "public restroom" and homeless use shower vouchers there. They also have zero security cameras. Why allow this while young children are around and without ANY disclosure?! Why do this when you only have ONE bathroom outside of locker rooms? I even heard one little boy tell his mother that a "creep" was trying to look at him in the locker room. Another mother asked me where my boys were showering because the staff never told her about showers outside of the locker rooms (only 2)and her little girl cried every time she went in there.I believe this location has major improvements to make before they should offer any services to minors. I'm so glad we will never be going here again.

Parents, please keep your young children away from this location. This location is not equipped to be offering youth swim lessons and I believe it is unsafe for young children. There is only one bathroom and two showers outside of locker rooms- not nearly enough to accommodate young children who shouldn't be subjected to all that can be seen and strangers in a locker room. Additionally, this location is a "public restroom" that allows homeless to go in and out without security cameras while young children are present. One mother asked where my kids showered bc the staff never told her of the two showers outside of the locker room bc her little girl cried everytime they went into the locker room. I overheard a little boy say a "creep" was trying to look at him in the locker room.

This Swim center is severely outdated. There are no lockers, the locker rooms are square and small. The actual pool here is nice. It's generally Warner than the other swim centers, but even now in the heat, it feels cold, which is nice. They have pretty mediocre hours. They aren't open most weekends, Fridays are half days, and they aren't open late or super early. Most normal working adults can't utilize this facility because of these limitations. The service here... Is ok. Would be great if the ones checking in were more enthusiastic.
