My brother and I gave Addie Balcom my mother's estate jewelry to sell. Over $20,000 worth of jewelry. Including a 2.98 carat brilliant round cut diamond of excellent color/clarity. After a year I asked to see the jewelry or the sales receipts. She refused. 3 yrs later she still owes me at least $4k and had never paid my brother a penny.

Rip off don't bother. I had some jewelry from my mother's estate to have appraised. Quote $120.00 per hour and she fiddled around for 45 minutes, no specific direct quotes (guesstimates) charged me $90.00 and expected me to write down the vague estimated quotes. Consignment quote 70% to the estate, 30% to Gem Lab. I suggest Smith & Bevill. They were up front with the fees, suggested that the value of the items didn't warrant the out of pocket appraisal cost, wrote down what they would considered reasonable value, and didn't charge a dime.

I had an amazing experience ring shopping for my wife and myself here. It's not big-box so I was able to find unique rings for my wife and me! 7 years later I still love my one of a kind ring I got there and he antique ring I got for my wife from the 50's for a steal!!!! Don't use for consignment. Does not keep good records and try's to go off memory. My wife brought in a couple pieces of jewelry for consignment and she told my wife that she sold the jewelry for half of what my wife wanted. I would leave a 0 star if there was one..
