My unit was broken into, and they spent hours inside the unit. They went through every single box. Took all and everything that I owned . DO NOT RENT HERE ... the unit next to mine was broken into as well. The storage place put their lock on my unit, and they held they key. This place is a scam. BEWARE!

This took me a bit to be able to write and post this review because I'm still trying to get over what happened. To say the least, your items are NOT secure at this facility. There were multiple units broken into and our unit was one of them. We never even got a phone call to tell us we'd been robbed and it happened a handful of months prior. They had many opportunities to let me know what had occurred. I called a week before we moved out to let them know and still wasn't told. Even when they let us into the building and did all the move out paperwork, they still did not tell us. How we found out was the key not fitting the lock and noticing the lock wasn't ours and instead had AMS written on it. They had to come open the unit for us because it was their lock with their key that had been on our unit for months. Little did we know that we hadn't had control over our own unit and yet they took our money every month. All the while our items had been taken and personal effects rummaged through and pilfered. At first it didn't look like much had been taken, but then we started taking things out to move. Each and every box was cut open. There wasn't a full box left, they took what they wanted and left the rest. Private paperwork, furniture, suitcases, paintings, a vacuum cleaner, etc. just gone. If I had been told it happened, I would have looked into filing a claim with insurance as well as kept an eye out on local resell websites for our stuff! For a handful of months, we did not have control over our own unit and items. Astoria Mini Storage did. They had their lock on our unit with a key they kept in their office with their employees having access to it. No consideration was given to us as customers. If we had known we would have gone to the unit and immediately moved out. It's such a violation to have this happen. And then to not even be told, is so far beyond unprofessional.

This place is not a good place to store your stuff. They say you can access your stuff Monday through Friday but they do not keep those business hours. Twice I went at 9 am to access my unit and no one was around. How do they have a business like this? I don’t know. Not recommended

This place has raised my rent 3 times since I got my unit. They have a recorded message on their phone stating their hours and based on that info, I drove to their location to pay my monthly fee for my unit and the place was locked up and closed. There was a small sign in the window with temporary hours. Those hours show they close at 4 yet their answering machine says 5. My unit gets water in it because the rain gutter is in need of some serious repair or better yet..replacement and because it is in such poor condition water leaks from the troph and splashes on concrete and under the door which has no rubber on the bottom of it. So that should be fixed. There are numerous pot holes in the road way and have been there for MONTHS and are getting bigger and deeper. The place is on poor condition. Someone needs to get some work done and get things fixed.

This is a review about renting U-Haul via Astoria Mini Storage. 'Almost 5 stars' Everything was executed via the U-Haul app - reservation, check in, payment, etc. I made a 'local' reservation for the big 26' truck - $40/day plus $1.70 or so per mile. After making the reservation, they'll send an email telling you what you're gonna need if you are picking up 'after hours', in my case 9am. In addition to drivers license, you need 2 of: passport, alt contact#1, Alt contact #2, copy of home lease agreement or proof of employer, all of which they will check. So I thought with my wife as alt contact and a passport i would be golden. Go to pick it up. Checking in, the app claims my wife's number is ineligible as I had included her info in the reservation (hint #1, do NOT include your spouses info in the reservation!!!) So, I wound up contacting online customer service. They went along with using my wife, but now that i've exited the app check-in i can no longer use my passport, which I had dug out of my huge pile of moving boxes. Luckily, my dear old 90 YO mom answered her phone, and without her hardly complaining about her health issues, I was cleared to go. Back to the app, it gives me the lockbox code for a stored key. Get in the truck - it's nice and clean! Verify the fuel level and mileage, now I'm a big-rig driver. Truck ran great! Great mirrors, nice amenities in the truck. So returning the truck - you're supposed to return with same fuel level (its not 'full', or at least mine wasnt) - and its hard to see how full the fuel level is while fueling, even if you on/off the dashboard. I wound up putting several gallons more than I needed to. I was returning at night, and it was hard finding a parking space, did the best i could. Now the VIDEO they ask you to watch made me think I needed to take a bunch of pictures showing mileage/fuel/cleanliness/where i parked etc, but the app just said 'share my location' and then went right to 'drop off the key'. The app never confirmed my return. But next morning I get a detailed receipt, and it was all good. So, the U-Haul app still has some bug-a-boos, but the Astoria mini storage did their part pretty well, I'd definitely rent from them again.

Dry storage but recommend checking on your storage frequently not a lot of security or surveillance

Horrible customer service, asked about availability of storage units, The guy who runs the place answered the phone and told me he was completely full and had NO WAY OF KNOWING when a unit would be available as it does not show in the system...( seems like a lie it is 2020 for f sake.) Then when i ask what time I should check back daily or something along the lines of that cause they DO NOT TAKE NAMES AND CALL BACK WHEN SOMETHING IS AVAILABLE, he says do not call to check back daily, they may or may not have one or two people leave a month so check back once a month.... So basically I was told play the lottery once a month in a phone call fashion and if ones available on my once a month phone call great!! but if not too bad please play again next month!!! Complete BS. DO NOT WASTE TIME EVEN CALLING THESE GOONS!!!

Apparently all it takes for somebody to get into your storage unit is for a pretty female to say that they have things of theirs behind your storage unit door and the staff will cut your lock and let them in to take whatever they claim to be theirs. Literally, unbelievable. Also, the facility is very shoddy and vulnerable to theft, and the staff there doesn't follow any protocols to protect your things. All you'd need is some bolt cutters or a pretty pair of eyes.I can't imagine that place is up to fire code either. If you do have to store your stuff here, I highly advise that you get insurance.

Excellent service. We like the location, and ease of access to our secure storage unit.
