Ashland Recycled Furniture is still here, although a sign on the front window told us that the store is for sale. This time around, the selection is heavier on the furniture and less so on "accessories". We liked some things quite a bit, but our remaining room in the car and the inner voice saying "do we really need this" and "where would we put it" won out. Gayle did notice a cool and well priced art piece that we should have jumped on immediately. Unfortunately, it had already been sold by the time I returned the next day.

I only gave this shop 3 stars because half of the week, it is absolute hell to do business with them; the other half it was quite pleasant. Now, I only will shop or consign there on Thursdays-Saturdays. The saleswoman who runs the place the other days of the week is so incredibly rude to both customers and consigners, it is almost like a form of emotional abuse. We bring things in to sell, and she insults judges them openly as "awful, horrible, terrible, no" unless she personally approves of them and would buy them herself. She openly expresses disgust (in front of others) in what we bring in, even though we have brought in, and sold, MANY items over the years. She claims "I know everything" when you jokingly and politely question her opinion. She doesn't want you to explain your items but rather tells you to "stop talking" and has told us she is overworked and we should be grateful she sells our things. The fact is, the shop gets 50% of what we consign and details like artist signatures, or stories behind the objects ARE actually worth something to buyers and should be pointed out by us and by those who sell the items. As a shopper, she is more friendly; however, she openly states that our looking for less expensive 'impulse buys' (that is, items that may be less than $30) or things like pillows are no longer being accepted because, in her opinion, they don't sell. The thing is, we've bought MANY nice pillows and smaller items there over the years. I just find the very negative, unwelcoming, judgmental style something to avoid, and I finally had enough so came on Yelp to express myself. It is neither the consignor nor the customer's responsibility that this woman who works early in the week is tired, burnt out, overwhelmed. We don't need to hear about it or bear the brunt of it. Be professional. The salesperson who works there Thursdays - Saturdays is kind, patient, conversational and respectful. That's when we'll do business with this shop.

Up until recently (around the past six months or so) I wasn't browsing at this store as much as I usually liked to because of the pandemic. It used to be really fun to shop here. But recently when I did go in there, it wasn't anything like the previous experiences I had over the many years I shopped there. By that I mean it was downright unfriendly. I hoped it was a fluke so I gave it a few more chances, but after several instances of the same not-friendly vibe I can't convince myself that it's worthwhile going back there. The last time I did the customer sales person lashed out at me in an irrational, antagonistic manner that was shockingly inappropriate and uncalled for. If I didn't have an understanding that this wasn't meant personally- because the person obvious has issues-I would have felt more hurt. I understand very well that hurt people, hurt other people. I do feel compassion for that. Nevertheless, the heart of any business is customer service. I don't feel inclined to tolerate such a lack of civility. Simply put- I quite naturally prefer a more enjoyable shopping experience.

Ashland has lost its creative funk. And that is what Ashland has been known for for many years. Ashland is not Portland nor is it San Francisco. When locals or college students are looking for affordable "recycled" furniture this place use to be where they came to. Now, today, it is evidently, no longer recycled but upscale, and very selective about what they take. I followed their protocol, took pictures, sent the e-mail, was told via e-mail by Judi to bring it in that they could sale it, it being an old porch rocker still in good shape, maybe needing a fresh coat of paint. I took it in and was told by another lady who does not know what she is talking about nor seemingly does not know Ashland locals very well that they would not take it. After moving the rocker all across town to no avail. That ridiculous woman has lost a long standing customer, buyer and seller in the past. Never again!!!

I enjoy going to Ashland Recycled Furniture and looking at what they had. However, when I went today the salesperson was on the phone discussing her personal issues. I found what I wanted but she did not even bother to acknowledge me so I just walked out. There was another customer who also just walked out.

We were moving my daughter into her first apartment and needed a kitchen table - and found mention of one on Facebook. The store is wonderful - a great mix of things that's fun to browse, but on top of that, the tables was perfect, they held it for us, and some fellow customers even helped us load it into the car.Highly recommended - we'll be back to browse for more!

Well-cared for older furniture pieces, sofas, chairs, tables, including framed art, home decor, outdoor garden, baker racks, unique items from past genres. Consignment retailer. If you're new to Ashland, check it out! It's a local favorite ??

The employees are very helpful. And it was easy to upload pictures of prospective consignment items. The store looks very inviting.
