Called to inquire about a frozen prepackage item. The woman who answered was not willing to give me any information beyond ‘yes we have this item’. I asked the weight, how many were in the package, how much it was and instead of just looking/providing any type of customer service she just said ‘I don’t know’.When I prompted her to look at the weight, price, etc. on the package she just said I don’t know - maybe get off your butt and go look? Not an unreasonable request.Also not very friendly.Anyway, sorry to the owner who loses business due to employees like this. I buy this particular item on a regular basis and thought I’d support local but nope. Will not be getting my business now.

Very upsetting and disappointing to see that these people use on their website my copyrighted photo of Salami Milano (from my Taste of Artisan blog), which they cropped to remove the watermark, without my authorization or permission, to sell their sausage. I am flattered that my Salami Milano looks much better than what they sell, which is why I believe they use my photo instead, but this is not the way to conduct business. Even worse, I called and spoke with the general manager, who flat out denied any wrongdoing, and even after I politely asked them to remove it, the photo is still there, two weeks later.

Just came here for the first time as I was looking for bone marrow for a recipe, and I was stunned at the high quality of the meats. Just visually the marbling on their cuts of steak was phenomenal, at market value prices. Not to mention that staff was super nice and attentive and even cut my marrow into halves for me. I used to do my steak shopping at Longos but I think I’ve found my new butcher here!!

Dear Meat Merchant,This is the second time I visit your establishment. The first time I visited, I was left unimpressed as I inquired about special cuts of meat such as beef liver and beef cheek, I was basically blown off with a shoulder shrug and the staff seemd unknowledgeable and or unwilling to help with questions such as; do you ever hold special cuts, what day of the week should come for my best chances of finding special cuts and so on. Because I believe in second chances I visited again late last week seeking AAA med ground beef for burgers. Only lean ground was under the counter but I was told they had some med. in the back. When I got home and unpackaged it (about 30 mins after leaving the store), it had the smell of 2 day old ground beef, (that sour, not fresh smell), not only that, the top portion of my 1.5lb of beef was a nice rosy pink color, however the center had that grey brown color, almost as if "fresh" meat was mixed with freezer meat. Once again I was left unimpressed. Perhaps I am simply more accustomed to what I consider 5 star establishments such as Bloor Meat Market, White House Meats, Sanagins and The Cheese Boutique. These all have select special cuts at the ready, most of them age their own beef, and the staff is ALWAYS extra knowledgeable. Also when you ask for AAA med. ground beef that is what you get. 1 star for wasting my time and money. You can do better Meat Merchant.

Sausages, chicken, pork… everything we’ve had so far as been fantastic and affordable. We just move to Stouffville, and we’re so happy we found this place!

I love the meat merchant. The quality of their meat is so good, it’s unbelievable. The taste of their steaks and chicken is far superior to anything I’ve purchased from any grocery store. They are also very friendly. A local gem. They have solid weekly specials. I love you.

Quality is always top notch. The staff is knowledgeable as well. Price varies but is on market value. Beef isn't cheap at the moment so factor that in.

Place seem to go down hill. Got some volcano potatoes as we have in the past. Only to find out their have shrunk and one is almost twice the size of the other although you pay the same price for them both

Worked here for awhile . Had my phone stolen from my locker by the only other guy working that day . I spoke to one of the owners about it who was there at the time ,she did absolutely nothing to assist me in getting to the bottom of it just a shrug of the shoulders and back to work. I really enjoyed working at this establishment but i thought that was just not professional in any way .I am only speaking about this now. This was back in 2011-2012

Great little place in Stouffville! Came from Markham to get something special for a Father's Day BBQ. Friendly helpful staff, really nice atmosphere, will go back. Oh..and smells incredible in the shop , should have asked what they were smoking:)

This is the only place to buy your meat. I am extremely picky when it comes to the meat I buy. The Meat Merchant has never let us down with the quality of their products. The meat is always excellent and the great flavour always comes through. Whether its bacon, ham, chicken, steaks or roasts, its all delicious. We have had so many compliments from dinner guests its crazy. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. They even go the extra mile for us in vacuum sealing and freezing our order that we take to the Caribbean. Yes we are allowed to take meat where we travel. Trust me when I say we have people lining up for dinner invitations when we arrive. Even when thawed, the meat tastes like it was bought that day. My husband is crazy over the chipolte sausages and I get requests from our guests for the prime rib and steaks. You will not be disappointed buying your meat here.
