Horrific experience with Samantha. My sister and dad purchased a car over the weekend and I'm appalled by the experience they shared with me. I'm writing this review for them because it hurts to hear that my family was treated this way. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and kindness, especially in what should be a celebratory moment. Never thought in a million years that I'd ever hear about my sister crying at a car dealership. Have respect for your customers and people you don't know. I hope this feedback encourages better customer care in the future.

Unwilling to take accountability for this misdiagnosis of warranty work
In April of 2024 when taking off my mothers winter tires and changing her oil, I noticed a leak from the transmission on her 2020 Mazda XC-5. The vehicle was still under base warranty so I booked her an appointment to get it looked at. When dropping the vehicle off the service advisor (Cody) was already trying to deflect the issue, questioning as to how I know its a transmission leak. I guess the answer of "I put it up on a hoist, removed the under tray, and looked at it with my own eyeballs" was still not good enough for them, and they continue to defect the issue. Keep in mind, they haven't even looked at the vehicle at this point.
So they took the vehicle for the afternoon, inspected it, and proceeded to tell us that there was no transmission leak. According to their shop foreman (Ryan), what we thought was a transmission leak was actually just an oil leak coming from the oil pan drain plug. Given that I had literally changed the oil four days before Mazda looked at the vehicle, and the residue I had noticed was there before I did the oil change. This issue was clearly misdiagnosed, or they just didn't want to deal with warranty work. They then proceeded to charge us $190 to film a self cam video of an oil leak and clean up some oil residue.
Fast forward to late September of 2024, my mother informs me that shes now got oil drips in her driveway when ever she parks the car. I call Mazda, book another service appointment, and once again before they have even taken the keys, they are trying to deflect the issue of the transmission leak. Telling me its probably a timing cover leak, or a valve cover leak. They took the car, inspected it again, and this time diagnosed a bad transmission input shaft seal. Ordered a replacement over night, and fitted it the next day.
When we went to pick up the car, we approached the topic of getting the original charge of $190 refunded as they misdiagnosed a warrantable issue. If they hadn't misdiagnosed the issue the first time, we never would have had to pay that $190. Their initial response was no, and after arguing with them for a while, they offered a service credit on the account equal to the previous service bill. We told them that was not acceptable to us as the vehicle would never be returning to the dealership. They then proceeded to tell us that there was nothing else they could offer with out the service mangers approval (Marc), and we would have to contact him ourselves as he wasn't in that day.
I then proceeded to play phone tag with the service mangers for the next week trying to get this issue resolved. While on the phone with him he predictably defend his staff, but told us he would review previous work orders and video footage to resolve this issue. When we finally heard back from him as expected he denied all accountability and told us that their initial diagnosis was correct, and that it was not a transmission leak.
We are currently taking this case up with Mazda Canada as Forbes Waterloo Mazda refuses to deal with their mistake.

I had an excellent experience working with Spencer at Forbes Mazda. From the very beginning, he was incredibly attentive and personal, even going the extra mile by sending me a personalized video of the car before I had a chance to see it in person. Went for my first servicing and won’t be coming back to this branch again.
Made me wait over 30 mins even though I did my due diligence to ask beforehand and was told it would be 10 mins at maximum to get me out of there.
When I expressed my urgency to get to work, I was told to let my work know I’d be late… very unprofessional and rude attitude.

My daughter and I purchased her first vehicle from this dealership back in May, and we could not be any happier. The team at Forbes Mazda was great to work from beginning to end. We worked with Karl, who was great and never pressured us. Samantha was a pleasure to work out the warranty with. Mike, the manager, went above and beyond as well. Any issue we had was dealt with professionally and promptly.
