“Remac is easily the best corner store in the city. It is family owned and run, making it a gem in a time where there is a circle k on every block. The staff is extremely kind and I see the same man every time who works very long hours and what seems like everyday. Week after week, as the seasons change, the same man is there with a smile and a friendly conversation as he sorts loonies and quarters for me so that I can use the coin operated laundry machine in my student house. I see those in line before from all walks of life, whether construction workers or police officers, chatting away with him as if old friends catching up. Many days, I go in for something quick like more milk when I’m stressed and down from exams but am met with kindness that turns my day around. This shop is the very essence of a hard working family business that enriches the neighbourhood around it.”

There are no grocery stores in walking distance of this neighbourhood. Thankfully, Abbas Grocery keeps its shelves stocked with all the basics, as well as fresh produce and a number of other important household items. It’s also very affordable (in a time where major grocery stores jack up their prices at will) and the staff are all wonderful. Every one of them, owner included, are friendly and helpful.
Some weeks, I’m in this store almost every day, and that doesn’t bother me at all. Happy to support this business and can safely say living in this neighbourhood would be much more difficult without it.”
“Domestics food is an institution. Hadi treats customers as if they were family. A Chocolate Bar selection second to none, Faygo Soda, & a stocked freezer of Ben & Jerry's, what more could you want.”
“A lovely little candy shop that specializes in treats from abroad that aren't usually available locally. We stopped in to get some treats before heading back to our hotel for the evening. They had a good selection of chocolate, chips, and other treats at a great price. Service was polite and prompt. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.”
“This place is a local gem. I heard Kaz Kitchen had changed ownership recently and decided to check it out since it has been a few months of disappointment with what was in the shelves. The new owner was so kind and immediately wanted to know what I was looking for and promised to stock it up for me. A couple days later, she had gotten exactly what I was looking for, and she's kept it in stock since! Not to mention the meat pies and lasagnas and desserts she makes! I always make sure to get a lunch or snack while there. Excellent cornerstore for Guigues Avenue.”
“This is the best little corner store ever I was living in aylmer and I met this little corner store owner that was really nice and took the time to listen to me and to help me go through some little moments just when I was passing by and here I am in Gatineau thinking I saw this guy before 15 years ago bu it's his brother still going really cute little business they have going on. “I love old school convenience stores. The more retro, the more I love it. Silver City Food Market is one of those stores. In the back it looks like a regular convenience store, but there's a food counter at the front and wooden shelving that looks very 1970s, maybe even earlier? Lol. The owner told me they just took over the store, so there has been a recent change in ownership (as of September 2023). I got some samosas. I asked if they had any baked ones, but unfortunately they only had fried ones. Nonetheless, I got a beef and a chicken ($2.50 each). They were both tasty, but I preferred the chicken. The owner said he also likes the chicken ones more, haha. The chicken samosa has chopped up chicken, peas, onions and spices. The beef samosa has ground beef, peas, onions and spices. I found the beef samosa a bit too salty. The chicken one was perfect. The dough wasn't too thick, but it was a bit greasy. I would have preferred baked ones ;) They also sell Biryani for $20 a container. They also sell pizza. They had a sign on the side of the store that a slice of pizza and a drink was $4.99. I'll need to check this out sometime. The owner said that they will be selling sandwiches soon as well. I feel like this place has a lot of potential. And the owners are so nice. I'm hoping they do well.”

“I have been to this store a lot of times and all I see some of the homeless guys. They dnt buy anything but yes steal a lot. I have seen these guys to struggle with them, tellinh them to return the stolen items. And after watching news yeaterday(Peterborough), I think you guys need to call Police as soon as possible. “This is a great little Circle K in a strip mall. No gas station attached. It's one of the few Circle Ks where I was greeted by the staff when I walked in. The guy was super friendly. They have a roller grill, so I picked up a taquito/tornado ($2.29) for my dad. I got him a pepperoni and cheese one and he said it tasted like pizza, lol. I like that the taquito flavours were labeled at this location. At some locations they aren't labeled, so you have to take a gamble with the flavour if you're getting one, haha. They also had Nashville Hot Roller Bites at this location. And of course, hot dogs. They didn't have that many Froster flavours, maybe 8 or so. They had lots of Polar Pop flavours, but not the elusive Blue Raspberry Crush. Their coffee/hot chocolate selection was good. I ended up getting a Mint Oreo Hot Chocolate for my nieces ($1.49). It was super sweet and potent. Staff were very competent at checkout, as I had some coupons, and they knew exactly how to process them. Lots of free parking in the strip mall parking lot.”

“First thing I have to say is the employees and managers are awesome funny and personable people it's always fun just to pop in for a quick coffee... It's what Tim's Hortons USED to be and SHOULD BE. but sadly isn't.. it's actually very clean has a lot of convenience items from beer to ice cream and finally the coffee station!!!
AWESOME COFFEE SET UP... WAY better than any fast food coffee joints like Tim's or gas stations.. it's worth coming into just see they're coffee set up it's crazy...
Quickie has definitely invested my money into their set ups they're prices aren't too much higher than grocery store prices but it is a convenience store so there is a bit more of a mark up... But just yet again the coffee... Way better quality and CHEAPER than anywhere else... If your in need for a coffee fix or looking for a late night snack or just a quick energy drink choose these guys!”
