I am posting here because Home Hardware has decided this post does not meet their criteria for product feedback which in my opinion includes the service and warranty related to the product.
RE: BENCHMARK Oscillating Tool Kit - 13 Piece
I do not recommend this tool because the life span is too short.
I purchased this product from Memorial Home Hardware in Thunder Bay back in Dec 2023. In Jan 2024 (one month) it stopped working. Home Hardware finally replaced the tool after an unpleasant interaction. There was no paperwork just an exchange. The third person I spoke to made the exchange and told me all I had to do with Benchmark power tools is bring them back to the store for warranty issues.
In August 2024 (another 7 months) that replacement tool also stopped working. As instructed back in January I took it back to the store and got nothing but a hassle to have the tool replaced under their stated 5-year warranty.
I was told I have to call some number, answer some questions and then various emails back and forth which then brings the store into the loop and then… yada yada yada the tool may be replaced. I asked how long this whole process takes and was told by the clerk “I don’t know”. After pressing the clerk, she told me (to get me off her back) “maybe a couple days or maybe more”.
In the middle of a project I like most people aren’t anxious to shut the project down until Home Hardware gets their act together. When I told the clerk I would not purchase any more power tools from Home Hardware her response was “life is full of choices”.
I am in the middle of a home renovation project and thus far have spent tens of thousands of dollars which obviously included power tools.
It's sad that Home Hardware does not make it easy to deal with them when a customer has a problem with their own brand name tools.

Do not trust Home Hardware’s warehouse inventory count and online ordering system. HH doesn’t even know how it works. It’s back to Amazon. Too bad, I wanted to support a long standing Canadian institution. Home’s HQ needs to get its act together and stop leaving their dealers answering empty handed to the customer.
