Didn’t have the greatest experience with them I came upon this dog and brought it in whatever.. I fell in love and I could have provided her the best home ever and they knew how I felt about her so they promised me that they wouldn’t post the dog and the second she’s available to be seen I’ll get a call well after horrible communication and many many unanswered calls and sleepless nights thinking about her I decided to be patient and just wait as I know there busy fast forward to there dog event that just happened and what did they do took her there and had no problem posting her without answering my calls and me hearing nothing but they say something is on her “file”.. it’s just disappointing they say they want to find these pets a forever home and they see people come in or call multiple times feeling deeply about animals and it’s just so unfortunate that I’ve decided that maybe this dog isn’t for me. I just feel like communication is key and if you promise someone something you should follow up with it.. as there are a couple comments as the same situation happened and I also had a feeling they were gonna do this and trusted them I wish I never called them and just kept the lost dog I found. I hope someone gives that baby a good home because I’ve decided to give up and find my forever pup❤️ if they only knew how some people feel about these animals maybe they would have a little bit more compassion. If you find an animal and feel like you should call try and find the owner before bringing it there and just really think about your decision because I hate myself for bringing her and I will always think about “ Fiona” please someone give that puppy the best home ever with the biggest yard ever?..

The staff here are phenomenal and their main goal is to find these animals their forever home. They were nothing but helpful and helped us welcome another fur baby into the family.

Had a very bad experience with wanting to adopt a kitten about 2 weeks ago.
The kitten in question had just come in, so I waited there until she was uploaded to be on the website.
Next day I received two confusing and contradicting emails, telling me my application was under review, and the one right after, that she had been taken.
I called for clarity, and was told applications were put on hold, as were the kittens because they were going to am adoption event at the Pen Centre in St Catharines.
I let the girl know I'd pit in an application the day before for the Ginger female I liked.. her response was I was to go to the adoption event and do another one.
I truly don't know how the society business can stay open when they have this poor way of dealing with adoption
I've had cats all my life, and was hoping for a 3rd.
I will NEVER deal with this SPCA again.
I was rather lucky to adopt another Tortie kitten by a rescue I support on Hamilton instead within the week.
They put their cats first....

Recently had to surrender a cat due to his massive fear of children (his quality of life was poor in a home that had children frequently)
The staff was pretty rude until I tearfully handed off his favourite toy they were more empathetic after that (which I can understand to them it might have seemed like we didn’t care but in truth the spca was our last resort to try and get him a good life)
I had been waiting and watching to see when he would go up for adoption so I could sponsor him.
Well it’s been a month and nothing
At this point I’m scared to call and ask after seeing some of the other reviews.
This place is supposed to be a second chance for these animals
I really hope I didn’t make a mistake in trusting you

There’s no vet tech to watch the animals when they’re not directly with the veterinarian. Many vets have volunteers or vet techs to watch them. My cat was left in a cage where its cone started to choke him. He had to be given oxygen while all this time I’m left at the desk not knowing that my cat was literally being unalived.
Called the next day to check on him. Not an apology. No “this is how we’re going to prevent this from happening” kinda stuff. So it’s clear they have little to no care for the animals here and don’t see a need for improvement after such a serious event.
My advice: spent the extra to have them spayed at your vet. It may cost more but at least it won’t cost your animals it’s life

A story about Lucky.
Thank you to all staff who looked after lucky but especially Cassie who helped saved lucky off the streets, Nioami and Renee who helped to comfort in very sad+happy times, Alicia whom treated him with kindness brushing his mats out and Brianna whom collected his fur and whiskers for my boyfriend and I ...
Lucky was a stray cat who lived on the streets that we know of for at least a year. Day by day we would pass him and try to get close , of course to feed him Tuna. It was tough to grab him because he didn’t trust anyone. He survived the winter and the rain storms by luck.
A week ago my friend and I were walking my dog and just so happened to meet Cassie ( animal control officer) and she was more than willing to set up a trap.
It took lucky 4 days to go in the trap and was finally saved. Hallelujah off the streets. With lucky being saved 4 other cats were also saved, it’s almost like he wanted those cats to be saved before he got saved.
Lucky ended up having a very bad mouth infection which ended up in stomatitis.
Lucky has been put to sleep today and is in no more pain and suffering, he was able to cross the rainbow bridge knowing he was loved because I was able to spend 8 days to love and comfort him which included a lot of petting and kissing his sweet nose.
The humane society of greater Niagara I know did everything possible to comfort lucky in his last days and I am so very greatful I was able to love him before god needed to take him.
Thank you
