I stopped in this morning with my one year-old husky German Shepherd rescue, who has been with us for only three months and has had a tough integration into our home with our Australian Shepherd, who is currently receiving behavioural training. They unfortunately got into a fight yesterday evening, and anyone who has previously dealt with integrating a new dog into a home with two other established dogs knows it can be tough, but even tougher when there are behaviours involved. He received a cut to his leg, which did not require any stitches, but I did need to get a cone for him and some other supplies. I was already incredibly overwhelmed, and of course felt really guilty, but from the minute, I walked into the store, an incredibly kind girl by the name of Jennifer immediately asked if there was anything I needed. She fitted him to an inflatable collar, she even asked to look at his leg. We talked about behavioural training, and she even offered to help dress his leg if I had no one at home who was able to help. She made me feel like a friend and not just a paying customer. Jennifer was exactly what I needed this morning. Miller and I thank you Jennifer!

Pet Value has moved from the small mall by the LCBO and Dollar Store across the parking lot to a larger location. The service is still too notch, but the layout is better and with many more options than before. Staff is always helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.

Visited the Smiths Falls Pet Valu today to use the self serve dog wash. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the dog wash was clean, well-designed, and super convenient. They supply everything you need for a very reasonable price, including a variety of shampoo choices and an apron to keep you dry...well, as dry as possible when bathing a dog. Will definitely come again.

I Normally love this pet valu and was so excited for them to finally start carrying fish other than betas, I have always had kind interactions with all of the staff, and I know its impossible to expect anyone to know everything about anything but if you're selling /live/ animals and also caring for them in the interim I do expect you to know enough to keep them as healthy as possible. I know there are restrictions due to being a corporate location but sometimes feet need to be put down firmly in the ground and held there, three weeks ago I was appalled at what I saw 3 clown loaches in what couldn't have been a more than 20 gallon tank if that, at the time I was too frustrated to say anything but I wish I had, cut forward to today I notice that they have only one clown loach in a tank with other various fish, but also in another tank with other fish they have an eclipse catfish, those reading this who might not be into fish are probably wondering, "oohh fish in a fish tank what's the deal" clown loaches regularly reach 8-12 inches in size and eclipse catfish reach on average 10+ inches. the appalling part about today is the interaction I had, two staff that I had asked about the full sizes of both species had no firm idea and guessed 2-3" and went to go and get another staff member who they claimed knew more concretely about their full sizes, the "more knowledgeable staff member came and told me with confidence that they both stay around their current size only growing to fit their aquarium. which is a myth, fish don't grow to their aquariums, the excrete hormones in their waste which forces their body to stunt their growth if it builds too much, causing a host of defects and vulnerability to disease and a generally miserable life for the fish, I just had to walk away cause I couldn't be civil anymore, thats the advice they're giving to people coming in and buying their first fish tank? "pick what you like it'll only grow as big as you let it" clown loaches should be kept at /minimum/ in a 55 Gal tank, and eclipse catfish in again /minimum/ 100 Gal, remember they grow to be anywhere from 10-18' im writing this with the hope that maybe with the spotlight on them they'll get better training and strive to do better and treat their animals better, in and out of the store because people who are new to fish might take their word as gospel, and they need to strive for excellence in care and share that excellence with newcomers to the hobby, so please whoever takes the time to read this, please don't buy a clown loach or eclipse catfish unless you have the aforementioned tank sizes

The staff are amazing. Mostly Tanya and the service she offers for nail trims. No matter the breed or type of animal she's extremely good, quick and sensitive to the animals (and furparents') needs.

Love that they have Orijen cat food here and that they allow you to come in and wash your pets. Always see the cutest animals getting a bath.
