Heading home to Ottawa after a family road trip, van breaks down 2km from Today's Automotive. Gave them a call and Stephen suggested a few possible issues over the phone. Limped the van over there and Jerome took a look right away. Found the issue and told me exactly what had to be replaced, which had to be ordered and delivered to the garage. I explained that I had the whole family in the car and needed to get back same day. They fit me in that afternoon! Brought me under the van to show me the broken water pump, belt and tensioner, and kept me informed over the phone while we hung out nearby.
Received the final call almost an hour before the estimated completion time and we were back on the road, getting home that day.
I couldn't be more grateful for the assistance, honesty and friendliness of this team. Both Stephen and Jerome are model mechanics and I'll be recommending them to everyone we know in the area. Wish they were in my area!

I had to return because they didn't fix the problem the first time they fixed the car, they told me that there was no extra charge to correct the error, but in the end they told me that on the first day they forgot to charge me a part, I don't know if they do this regularly but I felt cheated, I wouldn't recommend him.

My recent experience with Today's Automotive as a designated CAA-affiliated mechanic for Emergency Services left much to be desired.
While their regular customer base of reviews here seem highly rated, I cannot fully recommend their Emergency Services through CAA roadside assistance, especially for individuals in sensitive situations like I found myself in. Although the team was initially friendly (I was dealt with at first by the junior mechanic and then a senior one present), I felt entirely judged and somewhat brushed off for the rest of the time.
I felt they made righteous assumptions where I had questions, trying to gain their professional opinion, about the chain of events which led to us being there and without fully understanding the situation, which made me feel uncomfortable. Because my car had pre-existing repairs that were on hold to be done, separate from the incident itself, it just seemed like they were constantly being questionable of me or something. Their subsequent lack of availability was also disappointing, though thankfully my flex schedule at work allowed me to manage it, not that they asked about my time at all. It was the other way around actually--they had a full slate of clients already prioritized and expressly made sure I knew that my emergency repair fell second to that, at every turn (no pun intended). It was very much an 'it'll be ready when it's ready' deal in the end-- I waited to get my vehicle back for over two days. While they eventually completed the specific emergency repair by the third day, I just felt totally dejected by then and wished I'd had the forthwith all to have my car towed to my own mechanic's shop from the start. As the senior of the two pointed out, you do have a choice to do what you want with your car during an emergency, regardless of CAA's recommendation (during the road service call, it was this shop that the dispatcher named among two others that were part of the CAA network and closest to us). Ironically I was due to bring it in next week after my main mechanic was back from being away before everything happened but... Murphy's Law. I think the advice around handling CAA roadside calls was one of the main take aways for me, given the treatment I received.
The overall lack of empathy and being made to feel like a burden during this stressful time was disheartening. The incident itself was an awful situation for me and my family to even get our head around. The junior of the two again, once I came in to settle, didn't even come out to wrap up the services with me and my father, who was there to support me over the days. I found it cold. But not surprising.
People in this life don't owe you any validation. But I firmly believe it's essential for service providers, especially those professionally endorsed, to maintain a level of unbiased decorum regardless of who walks in their door, especially if they're under stress. I just don't feel I got that, even where I aimed to command it. It's also essential to remember that newly met customers don't generally come from a dishonest, suspect place and may actually even be coming to you humbly with admitted naivety, confusion and with a need for clarification of what the heck happened to them -- and not be made to feel embarrassed about it.
But they had no time for that favour. In terms of respect and treating me with dignity, I won't outright say they didn't, but I won't outright say they did either. Maybe I just had to be a regular customer...
I learned a lot overall and just pray to not find myself in a situation like this again.
All said, if you use CAA and have a choice in the emergency service offered during roadside assistance, in the proximity to Northeast Scarborough, I don't know that I would necessarily choose Today's Automotive. Despite their initial accommodation and subse

Thank you Steve and staff at Today's Automotive. I thought that my brakes needed to be done and that is exactly what I took my Rogue in for today. Steve was so honest, it wasn't time yet. Most mechanics would have taken my not understanding my car as an opportunity to make money. At the same time I had my A/C serviced, and oil changed and my heat shield replaced. I was absolutely delighted at the price. If you are looking for a mechanic that is more than honest and fair, Steve and team are your best choice. Thank you again!!!!

I told Today's Automotive that my car needed a brake job. They looked at the car and said no. They showed complete integrity. They could have taken my money. They knew that, yet they maintained their honesty. I'm a customer for life!!Services: General repairs & maintenance
