I was struggling in computer skills with power point, word and excel. It was getting me so frustrated that I was going to give up. Then I thought I would give it one more chance and I came to Literacy Lambton and they have helped me in many ways. I have my confidence back and I have made a poster for my daughter to get a babysitting job. I have also learned to make a brochure for the Medical Center I go to using word. I just have learned how to do a power point slide show that i still am currently working on. I thank you for all your help and support its like a big family here. So if you are struggling and need help in math reading writing or in computers come give Literacy Lambton a chance.

I found the classes very helpful and relaxed. I am more comfortable using a computer and even able to help my Mom with her laptop. My goal was to obtain enough computer knowledge to apply for an office job. I feel confident that i have enough skills now. I would recommend this program to others looking to gain the skills necessary to make improvements in their life.

The Trainers/Staff - Anne and Swati are the best and are extremely patient! I would never have passed my Smart Serve without them. They were very thorough in the training they provided me. I would recommend them to anyone. If I could hand out a best in Customer Service award it would be to them. They are truly caring and amazing!!!!

Finding a great job is hard enough. Being an older woman, it's even harder when your computer skills are lacking. I have looked for help in many areas of our city, there really isn't much. I went to Lambton Employment in Petrolia, and my counselor, suggested I take some upgrading to help enhance my employability. With not much confidence, I was enrolled with Literacy for Lambton and I am just amazed at what I have learned in just a few short weeks. The women, Swati and Anne couldn't have been more inviting and encouraging. It made me even more excited. They gave me a tutor named Mike. He is an amazing tutor with patience beyond, kindness and smarts like, I don't know what. I wish I could plug into his brain all the time, so I never forget what I've learned. He is so great. I can't say enough about him, about the all, really! Mike has also given me courage and confidence I never knew I quite had and for that, I will always be grateful. I actually don't want to leave the learning center. Lol. I know I will have to leave at some point, but when I do, I hope I can find the job of my dreams and use everything I've learned from everyone whom has been a part of the process. Thank you all for the support. It means more than you'll ever know.

Thinking about going back and learning computers as an older adult was quite intimidating, let alone with a disability on top of that. Where should I go? Who would help me? I learned that Literacy Lambton was a good place to start. I was nervous but made the call. The lady who answered the phone, Swati, was so nice and understanding. She assured me that I would be able to learn Microsoft Office, something I have wanted to do for a long time. She shared with me she has excellent volunteers from the community and she was correct. Mike and Rick were amazing! I never felt nervous about asking a question, they were so supportive and it was such a great learning environment. I particularly liked the one on one learning as opposed to a class room type setting. I encourage others who are wanting to learn to reach out to the organization. You will be so happy that you did.
