On Sunday I dropped in for a quick look at the Inuit carvings and mentioned to an employee that I had chipped a carving....she told me the owner might be able to fix it. The owner spoke to me and said next time I was coming downtown to contact him and he would look at it .......so three days I call the store and his assistant has him answer the phone and he tells me he would be there all day and bring the carving......he fixed the chip to make it look like new within 5 to 10 minutes and did not want any money......he said next time......Little did he know that 49 years ago I bought my first carving from his store when it was located on Elgin St. (The carving he fixed was not bought at his store.....)It is easy to understand why he is still in business.....

If you are looking to buy authentic Canadian crafts, and gifts, then this is the place to go. One of my favourite shops in Ottawa. They sell everything from First Nations and Inuit items to non Indigenous products as well. Compared to other souvenir/gift shops around Ottawa, this store does a very good job of carrying local and national products.
Nothing is imported. Well, to my knowledge I’ve never seen anything they sell labelled as made in China etc. Some items are expensive, but overall this is a good store, and has something for everyone. They have a wide selection of items, from moccasins, to traditional Inuit and First Nations carvings, Pangnirtung hats, little ornaments, traditional jewellery, smoked salmon and maple syrup, plus much more.
The staff are friendly and helpful and I’ve bought numerous items from The Snow Goose over for myself and friends and family over the years.
One down side though is that I don’t believe they have any Aboriginal employees. It’s a bit disappointing, but oh well. This is why I’m giving it 4.5 stars out of 5. Thanks! ???

Snow Goose has been with me since 1996/97. My first customer besides my previous job. They have bought and sold over 10,000 of my dreamcatchers and have sent them out to their customers throughout this entire planet to the tourist visiting the nation's capital Ottawa. I still have the original receipts of sale. Way back then, I was working for Mr.Jack Cooke 1996/97 less than a block from Snow Goose. 1996/97 And I still have original receipts from them purchasing my work.Today they are my best customer. Let's be theirs. I highly recommend anyone looking to buy or sell original works of Indigenous art. Snow Goose should be their first stop.
