Absolutely phenomenal! I haphazardly stumbled onto the gallery and was so pleasantly surprised. The galleries are a nice, smaller size, but I quite liked that since I get tired and overwhelmed in big museums. The shows were very well-designed and curated, especially the Normal Takeuchi retrospective. It was truly excellent. Another bonus is the cafe and gift shop, as well as no cost entry! What a gem.

You get what you pay for (it's free!).The Firestone family collection on the 2nd floor is well worth the brief stop for the limited group of 7 paintings, but the rest is junky contemporary student stuff or revolving exhibitions so YMMV.Opening hours are fantastic (til 9pm weeknights) probably because the building is also used as a student hangout.

We went to see the Ottawa Art Gallery since it was very close to the Rideau Centre, where we ended up parking over the long weekend. It was a nice, small gallery and surprisingly, free entrance! We spent about an hour there and then we checked out the gift shop. We’ve been to Ottawa so many times but this is the first time we’ve visited this gallery. Highly recommended to visit in the downtown area.

It always baffles me how many people don’t know about this gem. It’s a wonderful gallery with free entry that I always try to visit when I’m downtown. It’s always worth making a visit whenever I’m in the area, with so many amazing local-based artists showcased within it. The gift shop is always stocked with lovely giftable prints, merchandise, and more that are fun to look through too.

This was my first visit to the Ottawa Art Gallery and it won't be my last. The building space is great with local artists' works displayed throughout. The main floor has a variety of interesting pieces in many different mediums, available to enjoy on the sport or for purchase or rent. The second floor houses works from local artist Wilfred Flood and the Firestone Collection, including A.Y.Jackson of the group of seven. The third flour housed works highlighting historic Ottawa, and the works of Norman Takeuchi were on level four pointing to the sad history of Japanese Canadians during World War II. The 5th floor has some nice space for relaxing and working while delving into the history of Hip Hop in Ottawa. here are some nice views of the city and a space to get away and read or work for a bit. The building has a cafe and is well-connected to other arts and film resources accessible through the basement.

It is a great thing that this gallery is free which adds up to the overall experience of it. The only thing is that unfortunately it is not as big as it seems. But overall the gallery and exhibitions are enjoyable and nice to look at

Such a hidden gem in the city. Browse the first floor for ever changing exhibits, well lit, clean, lots of ambience. Great for a break from the city, maybe a nice first date. Browse the gift shop like a local tourist. Have a latte or a pastry from the downstairs Cafe. We went on a rainy day so it was an easy choice for lunch but we were pleasantly surprised by the table service even though we split the panini between the two of us. Great coffee, lovely servers and great ambience. Will visit again!

Convenient location close to Rideau Centre. Smaller gallery but good pieces to look at amongst the floor, enough pieces to enjoy.Free entry. There was a Cafe in the basement but when I arrived it was closed so perhaps it has different hours than the gallery itself.
