“Everything a neighbourhood bookstore should be! Warm, welcoming, cheery, and I love the staff selections. So glad The Spaniel's Tale is part of the Hintonburg community.”
“Come for the books; stay for the greeting cards, new-age accoutrements, attached coffee shop, free street parking on a good day, cheap next-door parking on a bad one, and the camera-shy house cat. I've successfully ordered books ranging from political commentary to science fiction. The staff are unfailingly pleasant and knowledgeable.”

258 Elgin St, Ottawa“Forgot how great an independent bookstore could be. Perfect Books doesn't disappoint. Great selection and helpful staff. Found several books that I didn't know I needed and will be visiting again soon!”
“Thina, Ariane, and also a male staff member, were exceptionally helpful in searching out Astrix volumes that my grandson had not read when I was ill and unable to do this leg work. I am very grateful for their diligence in making this special gift happen and to them for getting the books into the mail in time for his birthday. Merci!”
“I recently went to The Gifted Type on Elgin Street, and the new location is so fantastic. They really curated their selection of gifts and crafted items —it's clear that quality and original products are what they try to bring in. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as I had a few questions. If you’re in search of something unique and crafted, or simply want to browse a charming store on Elgin Street, I highly recommend visiting. It’s an Ottawa gem, and I’ll definitely be back!”

1572 Carling Ave, Ottawa“Britt is absolutely amazing. As a first time Mom going through breastfeeding for the first time, even in just one session, Britt has been so incredibly helpful. She’s extremely informative and thorough, and has taken so much anxiety and stress off of my shoulders navigating breastfeeding with a newborn. She instills confidence in you and is just so kind and empathetic. Cannot recommend her enough!!”
“Lisa's shop is first class run by a first class human who cares about books and the people that read them. I introduced a young man to the shop who is very interested in Lenin and his writing and Lisa sent him home with enough Lenin to cover 13 square kilometres. Please support local! Please support independent book stores in Ottawa!”
“My very favourite bookstore in all of Ottawa. The book and puzzle selection is great and the staff are fantastic. Books on Beechwood is also amazing for ordering books that are harder to find/not the newest which is amazing. So happy to have such a wonderful bookstore in the neighbourhood!”
“Excellent bookstore! It was my first time and was pleasantly surprised. They’ve got a wide selection of genres. I spent quite a while browsing the collection of philosophy, art, and new age/occult books. I ended up getting a beautifully printed book simply titled “Tarot”. I’ve just finished reading and enjoying the images. Extremely satisfied with my purchase. The shop owner was also very pleasant and easy going. I would recommend the shop to anyone! There’s so much variety I’m sure there is literally something for everyone.”
“This is the most well-organized used bookstore I have been to! Given that the relatively small space is absolutely packed with books, I was pleasantly surprised. I went in for a specific book and staff were able to put their hands right on it.”
“I was pretty flustered because of a misunderstanding regarding different editions of the same book. Staff took the time to explain everything to me and helped me find what I needed for a course. They are knowledgeable and professional, and I'm happy to continue getting my university books there.”

11 Murray St, Ottawa“Love the ambience and quiet, slow atmosphere being surrounded by all these historic books. It's really almost like time-travel. I'm a bit sad that they didn't have the hard-to-find books I've been searching for but I do like the friendliness of the staff and the overall feel of the place! Parking's also not unreasonably priced!”
“This is a great bookstore and gift shop, just make sure you confirm the hours before you head down. Candles, books, pendants, crucifixes, statutes - even some rosaries and scapulars. There's also a small kids section.Make sure you do what you can to support this store to support St. Pat's and ensure the bookstore can continue to operate in the future.”

315 Rue Wilbrod St 2 upstairs, Ottawa“Stumbled upon this cozy gem today and was not disappointed! If you are someone who loves a less polished and more authentic bookstore experience - this ones for you. Interesting selection!
The owner James is a very kind and passionate individual who made this a memorable and educational trip! Excited to return!”
“All praise to the book bazaar what a exceptional used book store. Very organized, friendly staff and a huge selection of books. I've been going to different used book stores all over Ottawa trying to find specific books by certain authors who are not as well know or are just obscure. It's been a painful task trying to find them but I found some of them here at the book bazaar. So if your looking maybe for some obscure titles just like me maybe you might find them here or find other hidden gems to take home too. ?”
“I am always impressed by the staff knowledge across book genres. And they are (almost) always happy to help.
Knocked off a star because of their fairly disastrous selection of vinyl. If you’re going to have vinyl, at least make an effort to curate your small collection, so it isn’t 50% Mariah Carey.”
“Store is organized and clean. Customer Service was helpful and quick. Only wish they had some options for help with paying for textbooks whether a payment plan, or discounts for eligible incomes”
“A neat store, great staff, only problem is everything is pricey. Even the books professors choose are pricey, this is while there are better textbooks and free resources. They could provide custom resources printed, but they aren't doing it. Probably because of the commissions, and honestly it's only runs up student's money. While AI is flourishing and are better at explaining things in a language level and fluidity one wants without any ill intentions, I don't really see the need of these pillow sized textbooks. Maybe professors can use them as resources to build custom-printed, copyright-free textbooks for a 10-12 week classes. While holding onto the insight that students are not just taking one course per semester, and by being a bit considerate about the course load a student generally takes during a semester. Accept innovation and integrate it into learning.”
“What a fantastic bookstore. And so thrilled that it's still doing fine. It's a LOT more than just maps. It has a wo derful selection of books and related items, and a friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Always worth a visit.”
