30Dec23, went to the yard in Oakville, around Noon to store my son’s tires. Was shocked to see the lock of my unit smashed and lying on the ground. Quite a few units alongside mine, encountered the same problem. There was a break-in and my heart was pounding. I was clearly the first person to see this and I was so grateful I had someome with me. We opened the now unlocked unit; it was completely ransacked!!! Had slightly older but nevertheless money worthy items stolen. Items from the racks were just thrown to the ground whilst the burglars were searching thru my stuff. Items in boxes like serveware, etc., were smashed to bits. My personal papers & items in file boxes, were strewn everywhere; some clearly photographed for the information. I called the police, then then U Need Storage (no person so left a message). Half hour later, no response so I called Roy, who answered. I believed the place to be safe; I knew they had cameras but clearly these are not monitored in case of a break in. There are usually no staff on site at this location in Oakville. I felt completely traumatized and unsafe.. I cannot go to my unit alone anymore. Roy had left a new & safer lock in my unit before my return to meet the police (they were busy on life threatening calls). Perhaps these locks should be offered right away on acquiring the units at a minimum. The premises is not truly safeguarded and monitored and set up with alarms to keep our stuff safe. They need staff & security there. We pay good money to keep our stuff safe.As much as I appreciate that gesture by Roy of placing a good lock in my unit for my use, when I returned to speak to the police, it was too little, especially after what I had experienced. It took me a couple of absolutely terrifying days to clean up my unit at the location and Im still wading thru my papers to see whats missing. Informing all the various institutions of the break in and putting all my accounts on lockdown was and still is a nightmare. I now realize the main gate is not sturdy or high enough, the fences and/or crates that serve as fences as well are easily scaled over, and I was told by another unit owner, there was another break in earlier, just before this one. He pointed to units that had the new locks just given to me, on them.I can’t help wondering if there is an inside connection somehow. In Fall, whilst i was organizing my unit, a white pickup truck kept passing far too frequently and looking in. It was unnerving so I locked up and left… and for someone to know they can smash locks and raid units, they had to have surveyed the yard and acquired knowledge of how things operate, before.I do hope the info I’ve provided helps you make safe decisions for your belongings & your safety. And remember, the units are not climate controlled either but one now pays pretty close to well monitored storage units. I too, paid the price quoted for a larger unit, for a smaller unit but fortunately or unfortunately, the unit was leaky so I was offered a larger one. However, i had to move all contents out of the leaky unit in freezing temperatures at end of Dec/early Jan & into the new unit which was double the work.

I’m so upset with this place. I am in Oakville Location on Bronte Rd. We have tedious schedules and require 24/7 access to our unit at any given day or night. This is the full reason we chose this unit other than the kind manor and helpful attitude Roy showed. Went over and beyond to find me the right fit. Almost three years later, now we are NOT able to access the gate and we don’t know when this started. Why. Or got notified or for that matter have gotten an answer for these questions that I’ve asked more than one manager many times. They are avoiding the question and only talk to me about payment that I now feel should be discounted since the service and promise isn’t met. At least for the time I’ve been and will be inconvenienced and locked away from my property I pay $ 202 a month for and not climate controlled to feel secure about. If this does not resolve I will switch units. I’d like to think my money was good here. If not that’s another conversation.Sorry for public post but left no choice.Kel

Original review - Nov 2019I stored my RV there for 4 years, it was great as I live just off of 3rd Line. I put up with a price increase (it's business, I get it) but then with practically no warning I was informed that more space was required for their container business and so I had 30 days to move to another location (Milton or Stoney Creek) or cancel my contract. Again, I understand it's a business and financial decision but it made me feel like my business and loyalty with them did not matter - only the $ did. Unhappily, I stayed with the company (it was still a good deal) and moved my RV to Milton.Update Mar 2020 :To my surprise, 3 months after my review, I was contacted by their general manager. He explained to me that the personal storage business is a new area for the company, and was very honest in saying that they're still figuring out the best way to service their customers. He reviewed my case with me and agreed that it was not handled in a way that represents the values of the company and how they want to service their customers. He then offered me my original storage spot back at the same price.I have to admit I was very pleasantly surprised. Considering the high demand for their services, they could have (like many companies do) just ignored my case - but they didn't. They recognized something that wasn't right, addressed it and corrected it. If only more businesses acted that way there would be a lot less 1 star reviews on Google.I'm changing my rating to 5 stars because they have proven to be responsive to their customers feedback, willing to admit mistakes and take action to address them, respond quickly when contacted and offer a good deal for the money.

Have 2 units in here. Great place, 24hr access. Would be a 5 star, but getting a little congested and not as easy to get through some times.
