A Critical Assessment of the LCBO Monopoly on Liquor Sales in OntarioThe Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) stands as the sole purveyor of alcoholic beverages in the province, operating under a government-mandated monopoly. While it may boast a diverse range of products, the drawbacks of this monopolistic structure become evident upon closer examination. One of the primary concerns for consumers lies in the restricted selection of wines and spirits. Despite occasional gems, the limited variety often falls short of meeting the diverse preferences of discerning customers. This lack of choice can be attributed to the LCBO's exclusive control over the market, impeding the entry of other retailers who might offer a broader and more tailored assortment of alcoholic beverages.Furthermore, the issue of pricing cannot be overlooked. The LCBO's monopoly affords it substantial control over pricing, potentially leading to higher costs for consumers. With limited competition, there is a diminished incentive for the LCBO to competitively price its products, leaving consumers with fewer options to find affordable and diverse selections. The impact of this monopoly extends beyond the economic realm, influencing the very choices available to consumers. The absence of market competition deprives individuals of the opportunity to explore alternative providers who might introduce innovative products or unique offerings, fostering a more dynamic and consumer-driven market. In conclusion, while the LCBO serves as a convenient and widely accessible source for alcoholic beverages in Ontario, its monopolistic structure undeniably hinders consumer choice. The limited variety and potentially inflated prices underscore the need for a more open and competitive market that empowers consumers with diverse options and fair pricing.

The black lady as another customer described her Trinidadian (Caribbean) and some other one, who’s always wearing too much lipgloss, are extremely rude and lack customer service skills.
The self importance is misplaced, you do not own the LCBO, you are employees, act accordingly!
Nobody gets freebies at the LCBO York Mills, so your audacity to be rude to customers, especially female customers is beyond me.
My encounter with the extremely made up one, who was smiling and being very jovial with different male customers but was extremely rude and unpleasant to me, was surprising. If you prefer to serve only male customers, please hang up a sign.
As for the older black lady, you’re as basic as they come, a cashier at the Lcbo. Raising your voice at me, and being condescending in front of other customers shows how classless and uncultured you are. This Gail has been rude to me on several occasions, the last episode, she tried to embarrass me in front of other customers, with Cindy as her partner. So this review is off of several interactions.
A woman your age should know how to show others respect, but then again you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
It is the LCBO, a provincial store, keep your attitude at home, nobody cares to deal with it.
There’s also the option of opening up your own business, where you can disrespect whomever is stupid enough to walk through your doors.
There are other bad reviews about both these employees, from other women! Why the management is ignoring customer complaints, I’m not sure.

Awful customer service at the cashier, very rude and unprofessional. I was never treated that bad in a LCBO before.

Staff is helpful for the most part, there is a wide selection of beer as there is a beer fridge.Update: Be careful with the prices. This location in particular enjoys shuffling the price cards where the wine you are buying is actually more expensive than the label in front of you which is for a different bottle.

What I like about this location is that it has the harder to find bottles in stock (Which is always a plus!) Also, the staff is more than willing to help. Parking here might be a little tricky because of the volume flow but you should be fine.

Recently moved nearby and it was my first time coming to this location. Seemed to have a nice variety of selections in stock but the cashier (younger Asian guy with glasses, didn't catch the name unfortunately) was quite rude, impatient and condescending. I can understand if it was busy and he was checking 100 people out but he came to cash to help out the other girl so I was technically the first person he served. No need to raise your voice at me to follow your weird directions for everyone else in line to hear like I'm a child. For that reason I won't be returning.
