Don't sleep on these tailors! If you ever need something done that the average cleaners can't do--go to Coats by Mary Ellen. The seamstress at my cleaners told me she couldn't put shoulder pads in my blazer, but because John is a real tailor, he did it. All my alternation needs will be here from now on. Reasonably priced, easily accessible, lot's of parking.

What a fantastic experience! John from coats by Mary Ellen designed a custom tailor made cape for me and it is absolutely beautiful. ?My late father was a wonderful tailor and I was blessed to have so many beautiful coats custom made for me throughout my lifetime. This is especially important for me as I use a wheelchair and it is difficult to find comfortable yet stylish coats that work for me in a seated position. After my father passed away I was referred to John at coats by Mary Ellen and I must say that I was very happy with the experience from start to finish. He was extremely accommodating and understanding and worked together with me to make sure that everything was just right and that I was completely satisfied. It actually brought tears to my eyes as it reminded me of the many beautiful pieces my father made for me.Many thanks to John and everyone at Coats by Mary Ellen for carrying on this "old school" art and doing it with such great expertise and quality.

MaryEllen coats saved my shearling coat. A coat that would cost over $3k today to obtain, had minor problems and one serious problem that needed attention. Without fixing them, the coat was unwearable. The work done was very good, done in a timely manner and at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend them for new coats or repairs.

These people not only know their craft but are very pleasant to deal with. Their artisanship, quality, and prices make it impossible to go back to off the rack. Custom is custom. They need to be recognized for keeping this amazing old school trade alive. Thank you John.

The best place for coats and alterations!! John was so friendly and helpful. I brought in a genuine leather coat that was too big for me and they did an absolutely amazing job altering/tailoring it. It's flawless. The turn around time was very quick and it was reasonably priced. I couldn't be happier, thank you for the fantastic experience!

The #1 place for coats of every kind!John is so friendly and helpful. He did not have my size on the rack so he made me one to measure - at the same price as off the rack!The final product was beautiful with impeccable craftsmanship (the stitching is flawless) and custom lining & buttons. And on top of that, the turn around was under 2 weeks!Thank you M.E. for an awesome experience!

I have had a wonderful experience with Coats by Mary Ellen.I emailed them to ask about sizing with a specific style of coat, and if it would be possible to mail it to me, as I live several hours' drive from Toronto. They could not have been more friendly and helpful, answering my questions by email, and then later on the phone when I called to place my order.Upon arrival, my new coat fit perfectly, and was even more stunning than in the photos online.I cannot recommend this business enough!

Fantastic experience! Bought one of his wool coats a few years back, and it's still just as stylish and warm as on the first day I wore it out on the town. I also bring in my leather winter coat for rips/tear fixes, and for a good de-salting after a brutal winter, and it always looks brand new upon pick up! Highly recommend!

they gave me a comphy coat that i use as napkin, it smells good i also bught a cape that make me fly like superman and im happy, why does no one like me my mom said im special, someone told me i have special needs but i dont need to be special i already am

I was looking for a tailor to fix a zipper on a sleeve for one of my leather jackets. Fortunately I was able to find a reputable tailor in the North York area. Jon was able to replace the zipper in two days, after we agreed on a price and timeline to complete the job. It was worth the drive from Scarborough to do business with this company!

I was looking for a winter coat for a few years. I finally found a beautiful coat at Coats By Mary Ellen. The coats are not only stylish but made for our Canadian winters. The best part --they are all made on the premises--supporting not only Canadian Made but the local economy. The store is well organized and the service is outstanding. Easy to get to--Keele and 401. I would recommend this store to anyone in search of a coat.
