British Imports first opened in 1987 by Lilian and Jack Ramsden when they were fed up with not having their favourite English staples; Heinz baked beans, PG tips, walkers crisps and Cadbury chocolate. Not satisfied with the North American counterparts to all of these products, Lilian knew Newmarket needed the original English market goodies and always had sweets available to sample for anyone that came through the door, especially the children. The store has since changed hands in October 2020 and is still thriving.
