I'm done being a regular customer at this Home Depot location and Home Depot in general. Long story short, a tin of wood stain fell off the rust bucket cart I was using and imploded onto the ground right when I exited the doors. I understand why they didn't want to replace the $40 can of stain (they offered 50% off a new one), but it was frustrating that I had to unnecessarily walk back and forth from one end of the store multiple times, explain my situation a number of times, and wait for an answer of whether I could get it replaced. I ended up walking off as I was done entirely with HD.
This story may sound blown out of proportion, but these negative events keep piling up and costing me money. I run a small maker business; I may not be pushing big purchases like a contracting crew, but I spend at least $100 - $300 every month (sometimes more) at Home Depot on supplies or tools for my business (and home).
Recent examples:
-Dealing with defective clear coat spray cans, which isn't fun when I'm trying to finish a project late at night, and the clear coat that I just purchased was utterly useless. (This happened twice; each time, I couldn't even do a quick fix like swapping the nozzle from an old spray can to the defective one)
-I regularly purchase 2ftx4ft MDF sheets from HD for one of my products, and an employee advised me that 4x8 sheets were available. Taking this advice, I bought over $100 worth of these sheets as stock and had them cut to size so they could fit in my vehicle. After realizing these 4x8 sheets were made by a different company and partially from a different material, I ended up with a low-demand stock of something I didn't need, I couldn't return it because it was cut down to fit my car. This was an honest mistake by the employee, as both MDF sheets looked and felt the same.
I could go on, but these events continue to happen on top of the declining product quality. I would rather spend my money at Rona, Princess Auto, Amazon Business, and even Temu for my maker business needs. Moreover, the employees at this location are genuinely friendly and courteous; the policies, restrictions, and product changes that I assume high-level management or HQ has placed on stores have slowly eroded my positive perspective of Home Depot. I'm done.
Update below: HD customer service was useless, they didn't even bother to provide a good resolution.

I was at Home Depot, Pickering on October 9, 2024 in the evening. I needed help in aisle 38 Plumbing to find a coupling. I asked the front a person for help. They said they qoukd call someone again. I waited 15 minutes. So I asked the front person again if they could call again. They said someone will come and help me. After 30 minutes of waiting I left Home Depot Pickering location and I went to Rona in Pickering. I give Home Depot Pickering location 0/10 for it's horrible customer service. I highly recommend Rona Pickering location for excellent Customer Service!!!

In this block 1105 kingston you can visit food basics and home depot. Shops tools and then grossery together. Home depot staffs are friendly and helpful. I was there several time. Well designed and there is some body front of lines to guide.
