Called, no answer. Called and spoke with someone who was supposed to call me back, did not. Stopped in, was in desperate need to have a compound prescription filled ASAP. Stood there for at least 5 minutes while none of the 4 people working there acknowledged me. Finally, when they did, they were unable to assist in a timely manner, and were not helpful in the least to offer suggestions or alternatives or to point me to some place that may assist. I will never step foot in there again. Let alone there was window smashed, the place under construction inside, and construction and supply boxes in the front 'lobby' area, very untidy.

I encourage anyone reading this review to be cautious if they use this pharmacy. The staff at this pharmacy are unorganized, slow, careless, insensitive, and rude.I have done business at this pharmacy on three different occasions. The third time was a disaster. The pharmacy gave me an incorrect medication for my son that I administered not knowing it was incorrect. I checked the label on the bottle before giving it to him; his name, the medication, and dosage were all correct. After giving my son the medication he spit some out and I noticed that it was the wrong colour and had the wrong smell. The medication is administered using a tinted orange syringe and is stored in a tinted brown bottle, so I couldn’t see the colour was off initially. I called the Pharamcy and left a voicemail (they were closed for a long weekend, it was Saturday). My son wasn’t having a medical emergency so I called health 811, who directed me to call poison control. I had no idea what my son took nor did poison control. Poison control told me to monitor my son at home until morning and take him to the emergency room if a handful of symptoms developed. Good news, my son was fine, but it was an anxiety inducing time.I called the pharmacy as soon as they opened Tuesday morning and left a message. After an hour of waiting, I drove to the pharmacy for an answer. At the pharmacy, the pharmacist listened to my concerns, checked my son’s file, and then checked the medication. When he returned he told me the active ingredients in the medication were correct, but that grape flavouring was added by accident, which gave the medication the wrong smell and colour (the medication was not supposed to be flavoured and in the past, hasn’t been, and the label said no flavouring). The pharmacist struggled to understand why it would be a problem that grape flavouring was added, he even went as far as to indicate that I hadn’t needed to call poison control. I had to explain multiple times that the bottle didn’t indicate it was flavoured, I didn’t know it was flavoured, and I didn’t ask for it to be flavoured. As a result, I had no way of knowing what my son had taken or that the active ingredients were correct when the medication was administered (all I could confirm with poison control was that something was off with the medication, for all we knew the pharmacy could have put someone else’s medication in my son’s bottle or added something more dangerous than grape flavouring).By this point, I was frustrated and asked for a refund and the information for the college that the Pharamcy reports to. I was given a refund and the information to contact their governing body (the number the pharmacist gave me was missing digits and was for OAP, not C.O.P). While I was waiting for my refund the receptionist implied that it was my fault for not checking my son’s medication before giving it to him. Both the pharmacist and the receptionist apologized after I was offended by the comment.Later that evening, Deborah who works in Patient Services at the pharmacy called me. She proceeded to tell me that my son was given the correct medication and that all ingredients in the medication were correct, not just the active ingredients. When I contradicted her she proceeded to fight with me on the phone.I have struggled with how best to resolve this situation. If l should let the pharmacy address my concerns in house or make a negative google review. I had hoped the pharmacy would be willing to own up to their mistake and show remorse. My interaction with Deborah made it clear that the pharmacy feels they did nothing wrong.

Took in my sons prescription in he needed a compound medication. I was told that a 30day supply would be $118 and that it would take a few days to prepare while I was waiting to receive information on when and how much it would be an older lady came in saying she has waited 4 weeks for her eye drops and they are still not ready. I found everyone to be unprofessional and unorganized. I took my son’s prescription to commissioners pharmacy after and they made it in 15 minutes and it was covered for him under OHIP funny that I was told it wasn’t and I would have to pay at Canadian Apothecary. They also told me that the medication could be flavoured well I came to find out that it cannot be because it can through of the PH level of the medication and this medication should only be give for 2 weeks at a time as longer then that and it will go bad. This was clearly information that the pharmacist at Canadian apothecary either didn’t know or didn’t care about. Please take your service elsewhere where the pharmacist will know what they are talking about and won’t be putting one’s health at risk.

Went for the service and am staying for the customer service. My newborn needed a compound medication. We called many pharmacies to find one that could fill the prescription and were refused by so many. The Canadian Apothecary agreed to fulfill the prescription that day. As this was a last minute request on a Friday, they prepared enough to get us through the weekend and the next week. Allowing them time the next week to finish preparing the rest of the prescription for pick up.Not only did they accept and deliver a last minute request, but they also allowed me to stop by after hours to pick up the rest of the prescription the week after. They said that wouldn't be a problem, as they often work late filling prescriptions. I really appreciate the accommodations they made, it goes to show how dedicated they are to offering their customers a great experience. Many thanks!

The pharmacists were very helpful and understanding. We needed Amoxicillin suppositories for our child with special needs, who would not take any other form of medication. They made it and delivered on the next day. Yes, compounded medication might be pricier, but it does not matter when you need to help your loved ones. Overall we are happy with our experience and would recommend the Apothecary

Very poor service. It takes way too long, I've been waiting 2 weeks to get a cream made and when I call nobody seems to know what's going on or where my prescription is in the process. They don't call back and keep you on hold for a very long time when you call them, if they even answer the phone.

They take way too long to fill prescriptions. They don’t call you when they are ready. I’ve waited a week and a half for meds. Very unacceptable. If you can, go elsewhere!

This apothecary went above and beyond for me with a hard to find veterinarian prescription. They made the process easy, and communicated effectively.

Service has diminished over the last two years. A order used to take about 3 days. That has now gone to approximately two weeks. In the past a phone call was made to you to confirm order was ready now there is no follow up. You need to chase them down on your order. This business was very efficient two years ago until one of the owners past it has gone down hill ever since.Time to find another supplier.

The pharmacists are helpful and knowledgeable. Service is sometimes slow compared to other pharmacies even if the medication isn't compounded. I'm glad they offer compounded medications though. Most pharmacies don't.

We would highly recommend Canadian Apothecary for the availability and quality of naturopathic supplements and compounding medications. We have been helped through many health challenges through the years with trustworthy and knowledgeable advice. There is nobody else in the city like them! -Peter and Deb

I am so displeased with this place.. I will never recommend them. I had a compounding prescription to fill for my 3 year old's UTI and I was told "around $46"... When it was time to pick up, they made the prescription wrong, it was actually $53, and they blamed it on the Dr writing the wrong information about my daughter... Meanwhile I had filled out a patient form with her date of birth and weight. So they had all the correct information and clearly did not look at it. They made her medicine for a 3 month old instead of 3 year old, so not only was the measurements wrong but also the amount. They said they would make more before we ran out and that I wouldn't have to pay more because I already paid for the prescription. Days later when our medicine ran out, I contacted them to see if her new medication was ready... He said they were working on it and to come later that day. When picking up, I had to pay another $23.75 AND the label was still wrong.. they gave no instructions and when using it, it was a completely different consistency and was nothing like the first batch we got.... Not only do I have no idea what they gave me, now I have to contact the Dr for a new prescription because it didn't work to cure my daughter's UTI. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!
