The most uncaring organization in Ontario. I called about someone leaving dogs trapped on a porch in direct sun, no water, no shade, and all they told me to do was to call another organization. This was their email back "I understand your frustration. It frustrates us as well that we cannot help you further but our hands are tied as neglect and cruelty is provincially regulated. As per the government we are not allowed to assist. The only time we can step in would be if the dogs are injured.
Please know we do all we can for the animals.
Thank you,
Erin:
Well Erin, you only step in if dogs are injured? But not if they are being neglected? Shame on you all.
I used to donate yearly to them, but no more. Useless staff, rude management.

I am extremely disappointed in the lack of CARE and absolute NO response and help from the emergency after hours officers.
I called in to report a poor skunk that had his head stuck in a jar and I was told someone would call me back shortly and NO-ONE called me at all. Even the dispatcher could not help guide me on how to get the jar off the poor animals head. I was not going to let this animal die, but the employees at Humane Society would have.
It’s so sad and heartbreaking.
I tried my hardest to get the jar off and I was having trouble and then I asked a young man walking by if he could help and he did. It was amazing that he got it off and that skunk was the happiest to be alive.
It was such an incredible experience and feeling to save his life.
The animal control officers were NO Where and NO Help!!!!
Very disappointing beyond words.
Not even a call from them.
Unbelievable.
ALL LIFE of any kind of animal whether skunk, cat, dog, possum, raccoon, squirrel etc….should be VALUED and taken care of!!!!
This is what the humane society should do, but sadly does not.
Their job is to take care and save animals and they failed big time. They didn’t care or even try to help.
Anyway, happy ending to this story is that me and this young man saved the skunk’s life thankfully.

Very helpful phone conversation and super fast response to our call about an injured bird. An officer came right away to take the bird. We are grateful that this service exists within the region especially for those of us who have no experience with animals. Thank you!

My love of my life passed away at 15 year old and I miss her every day . I feel it's time to look for a rescue or special need or even senior dogs I'd like to help as much as I can. But the cost to adopt is way to much I get that three cost in sheltering them but this is why people don't go to the pound to rescue. I have everything need to home another dog but the cost is way higher and I the only one who see this. Do these dogs get out down because no one can afford the prices that break my heart. You don't encourage puppies mills I get that and agree but 700 dollars for a full grown dog puppy compared to 400 on a home breeder who dogs are just as in need of homes as shelters. I'm so confused as to how people can help rescue with such big pricetags not right to the animals. Ort the great people like myself that would rather rescue an older doggy that been abandoned . Blows my mind makes me sad

I can't help but support the incredible work being done at this institution. When i first adopted my pet they made sure that I was aware of the responsibility I was taking on that the pet and I were a good match. I was brought up to speed on acceptable care practices so that Newt's needs are consistently met. I am grateful that their veterinarian team was able to ensure my pet was in good health and ready to come home.

This morning I made a call after observing a raccoon on my apartment property. Once it was clear he was not well, I reached out. I spoke with Linda on the phone. She was so pleasant and asked me some questions and promptly said someone was on their way! The gentleman that came was such a nice man. He concluded the raccoon was ill and I watched him trap the little guy for transfer. Smooth, efficient and genuine dude! Wish I got his name. Thanks everyone! :)

Their standards for qualified people to adopt animals is ridiculous. Apartments can be a great place for an animal for somebody who has access to other means of exercising their animal. Money hungry savages.
