Went in to store. Only one person "working" . She sat on her cell phone for 10 minutes as I looked. If you have an empty store and someone comes in, put the phone down.

Staff stares you down and stalks you as you walk around the store. Very predatory and offputting. Store is also over-crowded and a fire hazard. Do yourself a favour and shop at Trailhead. It's just a better version of A-One.

So glad to read the reviews and to learn I wasn't the only one who was stalked by an employee in this store.I walked in and and the man there did not say hello to me or even smile, then proceeded to stare me down and follow me around the store uncomfortably close to me. So unsettling and rude.The funniest thing is that they would even think someone would want to shoplift their tacky, outdated styles.

Bought a great pair of boots from Michael (owner of A1 Clothing). The style, size, and fit are perfect and they are so comfortable and warm. Michael really listened to what I was looking for in a boot, really knew the products and answered all of my questions regarding the boots. My size (9) was available so I left a very happy customer. Excellent service. Excellent boots (Keen ). Thank you.

Be aware of the No Refund return policy!I have purchased blundstones here for years, and have never had any issues until recently. I went in and had staff help me go through the kids blundstones to find a style and size my daughter would like for her birthday. Unfortunately they didn't have a style in the size that I needed. I decided to buy a size to big and I asked the sales staff if I could return them her response was a simple "yes" so I decided to purchase. I ended up purchasing her size at a different store. So I went back to return the boots I purchased here. I was met with a rude tone and and strict no refunds policy. I explained that we went through multiple styles and couldn't find the right size so an exchange wouldn't have been beneficial. I advised I was told yes when I asked if I could return. The response I got was that I could return but only for store credit or exchange. It was not disclosed to me when I purchased and specifically asked that it was only for store credit. The man who was at the desk I believe was the owner and he was disrespectful rude and had a horrible attitude and continued to say we don't hide our no refund policy and that the lady whom sold me the boots was correct in saying they could be returned as they can. (She just neglected to share the fact that they couldn't be refunded).It's unfortunate that I have had good experiences at this store in the past, and continued to shop here even though I moved and now live an hour away. If I had been informed properly during my first interaction I wouldn't have tried to return and if I wasn't met with such a rude and disrespectful attitude when I went to return it wouldn't have escalated to such a negative experience. I will bring my business elsewhere from now on.

My husband and I had an amazing time last night finishing our Christmas shopping at A-One Clothing. The sales woman who helped us was very friendly and so very helpful, taking the time to help me decide which option was best for those left on my list. She took the time to listen and presented different price points for me to consider, without being pushy. We had a wonderful experience, and I plan on becoming a more frequent visitor to this wonderful downtown shop.

I wasn’t going to name the Downtown Kingston business out of respect for the relationship that I have built with them over the many years of shopping there but given the amount time and energy it has extracted from me I feel it necessaryMy spouse bought me an expensive and overpriced Canada Goose vest for Valentine’s Day and I returned it to the merchant because it didn’t fit.They did not have my size and colour to offer me an exchange, the owner “assured” me that the next one that came in would be mine. March 11th I was issued a credit note to have my vest replaced.I have called the merchant weekly for shipping update to replace my vest. I called on Thursday November 16th and my vest is in!!!!! I go to the merchant to exchange my credit note for my vest to be told there has been an increase in price of $100 and I am expected topay this difference. The owner was not in to resolve this situation.I had to return to the store the next day in hopes of a respectful dialogue to address my situation with the expensive Canada Goose Vest. I was met with some pretty entitled attitude towards the situation about the independent store policy and that I was welcome to use my credit note towards anything in the store to the amount of the credit despite months of calls and the mutual understanding that my only interest is the exchange of the vest that did not fit with one that did it. Multiple calls, multiple visits to the store and multiple conversations about what the desire is. Assured that my vest is on order and it would be exchanged.I was met with the business is losing money because the cost went up since our mutual understanding of my want to replace with the credit note that I was issued because I didnt have a choice of refund of my money to go to another merchant to buy what I wanted. I was not informed at any point in the past 8 months that the exact vest in different size and colour would have additional costs. Aone actually said that they did not know that the price had increased until it had arrived and also charged shipping costs, what business blindly orders things and not know the cost of the order?!!!?It took reminding them of the Consumer Protection Act (probably created for situations this one), Micheal stood firm in the NO REFUND policy and I stood just as firm in the fact that he did not have the product that was bought to be exchanged and he has had my money for 8 months against my will as I have no choice but to believe that he was going to honour the exchange.Aftter several back and forth statements I informed him that I have no other choice but to file a small claims court action against him because what he is attempting to do is morally, ethically and questionable to say the least. He looked appalled that I would even suggest this as he was doing me “the favour” . Fully prepared to head over to the court house to file the appropriate paperwork to either get my vest at the cost at the time of purchase or a full refund plus interest and court cost.Micheal took the vest folded it up placed it into the Aone Clothing plastic bag and handed it to me as he uttered the condescending words of “enjoy your vest”. I looked at him with complete disappointment and expressed how unfortunate this transaction is.Moral of the longwinded story….Buyer beware of RETURN policies.Know your rights, stand firm in your truth and don’t be bullied by those who think their beliefs are superior and use your voice because it matters!It is a very sad set of circumstances that a business owner who has been in business for 3 generations would treat a repeat customer in such a disrespectful and arrogant way. I will be taking my money and support to other small business’s that appreciate the value of giving someone your word and honouring agreements without stress and escalation.

My husband and I were in yesterday. This store is way too crowded with merchandise. Maybe this is why the 3 employees stalked us while we were browsing various items, to make sure we didn't steal something because it would be easy in a crowded shop like that. And I respect how hard it must be to be a business owner in downtown Kingston after the pandemic but back off a bit. One sales person practically walked through me while I was bent down looking at mitts. It was an unpleasant 10 minutes and reminded me why I don' t support this business anymore.

Communication: via Google messaging and in-person, outstanding!In-store service: prompt, friendly, honest advice. My memory is terrible, so I can't remember the name of the man with whom I interacted (Sat, Jan 21, 2023), but he was very helpful and helped find the perfect coat for my needs. I did not find that I was "sold" one item over another. He took pics of me (below) to help me decide between products.Price: it's Canada Goose, so the price is the price. The value for price, however, can't be matched, especially knowing someone in Canada got paid a fair wage to make this product.I am a very happy with my experience.

Really great place to buy winter boots! Very helpful staff. they were helpful with informing me how to properly care for my boots. The salesmen i dealt with was exceptional, he knew all about the brand I was looking for abd was super friendly.

While they have a large selection, the people working there have a terrible attitude towards customers. I wanted an all wool hat/beanie, but I was mocked for asking. Why would they do that? I will never shop there again and would suggest anyone reading this to avoid ever going in the store if they don’t want to be humiliated.

Went in to start looking at boots. I was given space to shop, but they helped me when I couldn't find what I was looking for. Lots of selection and it was a quick in-and-out trip!
