My wife went here around noon today to buy me a couple of beers and a bottle of wine for dinner with friends tonight. She is very visibly pregnant. (Almost full term) The young girl working the self checkout gave my wife attitude and several dirty looks and was reluctant to approve the purchase at the terminal because her being pregnant and buying alcohol. Is this person not smart enough to either realize that she obviously has a spouse or friends that she would be buying alcohol for or to simply mind her own business?
This is unacceptable and my wife shouldn’t be made to feel awkward just for running an errand.

The Great Grape Heist at Sobey’s Kanata: A Fruitful Escape ??
It was an ordinary Thursday afternoon when I ventured into Sobey's in Kanata, innocently seeking provisions for the week. Little did I know that this shopping trip would turn into a covert operation of epic proportions—a daring escapade of grape sampling that would test my wits and my stealth.
The mission was simple: to taste a grape without drawing attention. Why? Because I had heard whispers that Sobey's had the most succulent, juicy grapes, and I needed to confirm the rumors before committing to a whole bunch. What I didn't anticipate was the level of intrigue and drama this seemingly mundane task would entail.
As I entered the store, I made a beeline for the produce section with a focus that would make a marksman proud. My eyes were set on the grape display, which gleamed with a tantalizing array of plump, shiny grapes. I approached the table, casually eyeing the selection as if it were merely a casual browse.
In true heist fashion, I picked up a bunch of grapes, holding them in a manner that suggested I was contemplating a major purchase. The grapes looked inviting, their lush purple hue promising a burst of flavor. I selected one, subtly bringing it towards my mouth, trying to blend in with the crowd of shoppers.
Just as I was about to pop the grape into my mouth, I noticed a store employee—let’s call him Dave—approaching from the corner of my eye. Dave seemed to be on a mission, and his sharp gaze suggested he was patrolling the produce section with the vigilance of a hawk. Panic set in. I had to act quickly.
In a moment of sheer brilliance—or perhaps desperation—I clutched the bunch of grapes to my chest, pretending to scrutinize them intently. I glanced sideways to check if Dave was still in sight. With all the subtlety of a spy movie protagonist, I nonchalantly shifted my weight, trying to look as if I were deeply engaged in the produce selection process.
Dave passed by, oblivious to my covert operation. I took this as a sign to resume my mission. I selected another grape, preparing to sample it when, out of nowhere, a child ran past me, chasing after a rogue shopping cart. The cart skidded into the grape display, sending a few grapes tumbling onto the floor.
I froze, my heart pounding. The grapes on the floor seemed to mock me as if daring me to make a move. Dave, now alerted by the commotion, turned his attention to the scene of the grape chaos. I was momentarily paralyzed by the fear of being caught in the act of what could only be described as a fruit-based felony.
With Dave’s attention diverted, I seized the opportunity. I quickly popped the grape into my mouth, savoring the sweet taste as if it were a rare delicacy. Success! The grape was everything I had hoped for—succulent and perfectly juicy.
As I wiped my mouth and attempted to appear nonchalant, Dave returned to his patrol, seemingly unaware of the daring grape escapade that had just taken place. I carefully placed the bunch of grapes back on the display, giving a last glance at my fruity accomplice.
Mission accomplished, I swiftly exited the store, feeling a mix of relief and exhilaration. I had managed to successfully sample the grapes without being caught—an achievement that would go down in the annals of my shopping history as “The Great Grape Heist of Sobey’s Kanata.”
In the end, it was a humorous reminder that even the simplest tasks can turn into grand adventures. And while the grapes were indeed delicious, the thrill of the covert operation made them taste even sweeter even though I ended up buying them. ??

I was there to pick up a floral arrangement. Bianca greeted me with a friendly smile. After our conversation, she offered to make a special arrangement on-site. She listened to my requests patiently and knows what kind of flowers are appropriate for the occasion. She took her time trying flowers in different vases after that. Also, before I left, she made sure I was entirely happy with the arrangement. Overall I am very happy with her work and would highly recommend it.

During my shopping today, I noticed quite a few items had dates that were passed due. One example was the Croissants, all but one had July 17th expires dates.
Even while going through the cash, the cashier brought it to my attention that a bag of Terra chips I wanted to buy was expired back in May.
This was my first time going to sobeys in over 10 years. It's no better than loblaws or any of the other grocery companies. Keeping expired or soon to expired products off the shelves should be the basic minimum standard, and they couldn't even do that.
