I guess they don't always open on time. when you call the store you can't leave a message. With no idea of how long we needed to wait, sadly we went somewhere else.edit: Thank you for your reply. I understand the challenges businesses face today, including staffing issues and health concerns. My feedback was aimed at highlighting the importance of communication with customers during such unforeseen delays. Providing an estimated opening time or updating your phone message to reflect temporary issues could greatly enhance customer experience and understanding. Disappointment arises not only from the delay itself, but also from the lack of information about it. I hope my feedback can be seen as constructive and can help in improving communication in the future.

Quoted $1500 to fix a shaking engine and flashing check engine light. The only problem was the ignition coil which can be bought from the dealer for $270. They billed $400 for just that part on the quote.

Great service. Blew out a tire on the 407 and quoted me a price for a new one. Then on her own looked up my history to see that I bought them there and purchased the extended warranty. Called me with 2/3rds off.

Active Green and Ross have been storing and switching my all season tires to winter tires and vice versa for several seasons. This year, I switched the tires myself but was unable to remove the all season tire on the rear driver’s side because it was clearly over-torqued when AGR put it on in the spring. When I asked them to remove it because I was unable to, they quoted me $850 to torch the locking lug nut off and cover the cost of new materials in the event of damage. I declined as they were the ones to put the all season tires on and so should be responsible for removing it as well. They denied it was over-torqued and said it was because of rust build up (in six months). When I went in to pick up my vehicle they suggested I take it to a Volkswagen dealership who could remove the tire with a master key since the key that came with the car was now stripped. When I got my car home, it’s clear they caused damage anyway (see pictures). After this experience, and multiple experiences where AGR has told me I need new rotors and brake pads when I don’t, I will never use their services again. Buyer beware. The VW dealership in Hamilton has had similar stories from unhappy customers from this particular active green and Ross on main in Hamilton. I will be reporting them to Better Business Bureau as well as pursuing compensation for the damaged rim (see picture).Edit: The folks at the Hamilton VW dealership confirmed you should have stopped and consulted with me before causing damage to the rim. They were unable to use the master key (your suggestion) because of the damage you caused. Had you stopped they would have easily been able to remove the tire. At any rate, they removed it in 20 minutes without causing any further damage (thank you Hamilton VW dealership!) and at a fraction of the cost you quoted me. They also said you would respond with “we torque to factory spec” and suggested I ask you exactly what “factory spec” is for my particular vehicle. So please let me know. The issue remains: you put my tire on in the spring, when we tried to remove it we couldn’t, you offered to remove it for $850 because of potential damage to my rim, I declined because that quote is highway robbery (especially since you put the tire on), when I arrived to pick up my car, you DID NOT notify me of the damage you had caused to my rim, and you advised me to go to the dealership so they could use a master key, which you knew they would not be able to use because you melted the bolt (and did not inform me of this). You also neglected to return the stripped key, which I had to return and ask for.

They tried to scam me by claiming I needed work done when I brought my car in to get winter tires put on. Said I needed new brake pads, but when I brought to a different mechanic they said this did not need to be done

I have been taking my car to this garage for the past two years and feel I should recommend it and share my positive experience. From making an appointment to taking my car in and getting it back, I have nothing but praise. As busy as he is, Eric is very patient and understanding, addressing all my inquiries and needs and ensuring I am happy with the justified cost. I have dealt with two mechanics there, Doug and Dave, and their years of experience and professionalism are evident. Their work is of a high standard, and compared with other garages I have been to, the cost is highly competitive. Use this garage, and you will not be disappointed!Services: Transmission

I don’t normally write reviews but I recently took my car in for a few things and had such a great experience. The staff were a pleasure - special shout out to Eric for coordinating everything so well and Doug for taking great care of my car/taking time to thoroughly explain the work that was done. I will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family!Services: Tires

I have been going here for years now and cannot be happier with this crew! From oil/tire changes, to the bigger jobs that are bound to pop up now and then, Doug (owner) and Eric (manager) are honest, courteous and professional. I've never felt taken advantage of or talked down to because I'm a woman (like some of these silly reviews on here imply). Prices are more than fair, they've never tried to up sell anything, and my car is always returned to me clean and running great ?. Thanks guys for keeping my car in great shape. 200,000+ kms and going strong!

No gimmicks just straight up good mechanics. I choose them whenever possible (for non dealer-required jobs). Recently they responsibly guided me to defer certain required maintenance services while waiting on the resolution of a potentially serious engine problem. They fixed my engine and then did the maintenance, all very timely and reasonably priced.

So pleased to be able to recommend this business to my family and friends. They don't try to up sell ( which is something I've experienced at dealerships). They've always let me know when something may be coming due for repair so I have time to prepare, instead of insisting on doing it immediately. I have a new car still under warranty and it has been back to the dealership several times for the same issue so I always stop in here to get them to check the work and take photos of what is going on to take back with me to the dealer.

I booked an appointment for my father's car to have the safety inspection done to transfer ownership. I had a family friend (retired mechanic) look over the car thoroughly and mentioned there should be no issues with this vehicle passing the saftey. Took it to the car in and 45 minutes later I got a phone call stating I needed to spend approx $2700 for all new tires and brakes. The tires were had "weather craking" and brakes had "rust" on them. Car did for about 2 weeks after my father passed but no longer than that. I went then took the vehicle to another shop and it passed with absolutely no problem and they stated that whomever didn't safety this vehicle is trying to scam you. I went back to Active Green and asked for my money back and refused. I mentioned how could you fail it and another shop pass it with flying colors? I also left them me email requesting pictures of my tires and brakes as to what they thought were unsafe. Lesson learned not to go back there. Ever.
