“There's no doubt The Dragon is a staple establishment to the community of Guelph and is integral to so many residents and visitors who are not just stopping by for the latest comic issue release but to have a provided safe space to meet others and attend events with others sharing their hobby/interest.
The Dragon store tends to provide recent popular comics including indie titles, games, collectible figures and host events in the area right beside the store such as D&D, MTG and Pokémon TCG (although you need to signup at times I believe there is still walk-in at times). They also host visits from writers and artists in the industry.
The main store is wonderfully designed the layout entices visitors to come in and browse (and hopefully buy heh). I love it, and it's worth mentioning how clean it's kept. Yes this matters.
I've many friends and colleagues in the industry mostly writers and a few artists and I get a smile seeing their work on the shelves in-store right here in Guelph. I'd never really stepped into the store frequently until 2023 but I have had family visit the store on my behalf over a decade who always praised their experiences.
While I've not run into Jenn or had the pleasure of visiting The Dragon's location in Milton I raise my glass of rootbeer to her and wish continued success. I have had the pleasure interacting with Amy a good few times who always had a positive aura making me feel welcome and informed.
I've had pleasant experiences with many other staff who could also tell when I was a little bewildered searching for a title and were happy to help. This attitude keeps me coming back and eager to continue recommending the location to families and friends to visit from out of town.
“Nice and quiet. Good selection of Cricut accessories. Clean restroom. Needed more checkouts open though. Revised Oct 2,2024 - they have moved to self checkout. Ick and cumbersome”
